Guest Black&White
PENZANCE AFC have begun planning for the 2008-2009 season by announcing they are inviting applications for the position of manager, player-manager or coach. The Magpies, who currently occupy seventh place in division one west of the South West Peninsula League are aiming for promotion to the premier division within the next three seasons, and are seeking suitable applicants to oversee all aspects of football policy throughout the club, including its reserves and youth teams. Club secretary John Mead revealed that current joint managers John McCallum and Adrian Ferrell had been kept informed of developments and invited to apply for the post, and it was his understanding that they fully intend to do so. Mead said: “The club are keen to progress and we have a three-year plan, during which time we will be aiming for promotion to the premier division and hopefully, consolidate within it. “However, we are aware it may be difficult to achieve next season, particularly with sides like Porthleven and Truro City likely to be competing at the top end of the table.” Anyone interested in the post should contact John Mead, in complete confidence, on 01736 369066 or 07952 312 906. Mike Odgers
Could that be the situation for the future seasons- Truro City Reserves stuck in the SWPL(W) unless their first team can get through the uncharted territory of the Southern League. Porthleven not accepting promotion. No avenue for any other ambitious club looking for promotion.
cornishteddyboy
Perhaps that's why it might be better for the SWPL Div 1 West if Helston were promoted from the Combo and not Truro.

Dave Deacon
legally left his contract What are we talking about here? Don't you mean that he's just decided to stop playing football. I can't believe surely that Penzance have players on contracts! :o
