  2. TUES 12th July 6.30pm - Newquay Reserves v Illogan Reserves @ Mount Wise Stadium. Just to confirm this is a 6.30pm KO.
  3. The Secretary at the time pulled Newquay AFC out of the FA Vase after the draw was made. Perhaps the Committee didn't fancy the trip, but I recall being blooming annoyed about it at the time, we had a reasonable run the season before.
  4. The a Peppermints are starting pre season training next Thursday 30th at 6.30pm Newquay tretherras school grass pitches, it is an open session for all 3 adult teams and new players are welcome to come along, many thanks, Macca.

  8. Argyle play in Newton Abbot, Parkway is not their local derby !!! Exmouth perhaps ?
  9. Mount Wise Stadium does not have hard standing on all 4 sides (behind far end goal & from main stand to far end). Held 3,500 in comfort and with room to spare v Man City in 1998, but not good enough for a Vase game v Odd Down in 2016 !!! Ground improvements are one thing, and I'm all for them, but The FA are just adding to running costs year on year for village / small town clubs. Perhaps a minimum of 100 seats + another 100 covered standing, with terracing / hard standing for 1,000 is enough for clubs at Steps 5 & 6, with the toilet & catering facilities sufficient for the average of the league concerned (extra brought in if needed). Unless The FA are going to share out the Sky money amongst clubs down to Step 7, they should not be imposing financial hardships just to enter the Vase.
  10. Final date Weds 11 May, SWPL season ends with one game on Sun 8 May, majority of SWPL grounds (exc those with ressies games) could have hosted it no problem. As the Comp is for invited clubs from the SWPL West, Combo & ECPL, it would've been nice for a smaller club or one that has made great strides to improve facilities to be given the chance to host it. Many grounds currently without lights are suitable, perhaps an earlier KO time could have assisted them. I'm sure the finalists don't really care that much where and when it will be held, but a lack of common sense from CCFA does not show them up in the best light.
  11. Thursday evenings North Coast Derby between Newquay AFC & St Agnes has been changed back to 7.30pm (was 6.30pm) at Mount Wise Stadium.
  12. Newquay created just three chances first half, Blazey were quicker to the ball and took advantage of some awful defending. Second half started even worse and at 0-3 that should have been the end. However, the last half hour or 28mins to be precise, Newquay dominated, scored and could have added one or two more. With 2 mins or normal time and 4 confirmed mins of added time, did Newquay do the right thing by agreeing to let the result stand ? A hard nosed club would have said no, taken the refs decision to abandon and played again in the hope of getting a point or three, who knows what might have happened in those six mins ? Even one goal pulled back might count at the end of the season, it is that tight. Villa are down, Newquay have games in hand but play Villa, Camelford and Callington which will be vital. On top of that they face Parkway twice, Torpoint, Witheridge, Ivybridge & Tavistock, could nine points be enough ? I for one am very worried, if Newquay go down, it will be a long hard road back !!! CALLINGTON TOWN 30 8 9 13 47 64 -17 33 NEWQUAY 29 9 4 16 38 67 -29 31 ST.BLAZEY 32 9 4 19 47 90 -43 31 CAMELFORD 28 7 8 13 37 66 -29 29 STOKE GABRIEL 32 7 5 20 51 61 -10 26 ELBURTON VILLA 31 5 4 22 27 91 -64 19
  13. If true, Chelsea must have got theirs in a Xmas Cracker, certainly were not using 'Performance Enhancing' substances before Gus arrived. Anyone got any going spare ?
  14. Previously, the FA Vase ground entry requirements were, hard standing on three sides and a minimum of 75 seats. This now appears to have been changed to all 4 sides hard standing but the seating numbers seem unclear. Godolphin have 60 seats and are recommended for acceptance next season. Tania & Co have done an amazing job at getting the ground looking right, extra car parking and standing areas, it is right they get the chance to enter a National Comp. As someone above said, generally step 6 clubs do not get past the first few rounds with crowds of 200 or less, yet SWPL games are fine where attendances, on occasions, are double that and more. St Austell were permitted to upgrade for the Vase Semi, is this rule no longer valid ? Clubs can host Championship clubs in pre-season where attendances are 4 figures, but not good enough for Newquay v Odd Down in future ? Have the SWPL put up any argument or protest to the FA ? It does seem that the restrictions / improvements change from year to year, but without adequate funding from above, very few clubs will be able to keep up with the annual budget busting that the FA are imposing on village and small town clubs. Mount Wise Stadium is still one of the best grounds in Cornwall, can easily accommodate 3,500 in comfort, the ground was improved last summer, but the rules seem to have changed again since then. Can't say that I, or the many Peppermints I have spoken with since yesterday are happy about any of it.
  15. We've been playing with half our reserves for weeks now, too many jumped ship for cash or just couldn't handle to pressure. I'm sure the neighbours would love us to stay up, be nice if they did us a favour !
