Whats the rules with naming unnamed trialists on here? Are we allowed to speculate?

One for Dave Deacon I think. Remember watching PSF's with unnamed trialists in line ups, and the chances were that somebody in the crowd recognised them. They then of course told others, who told others and it then got spread on social media. Perhaps trailists should be made to wear disguises (the "Masked Trialist" sounds like an idea for a TV show).

The match away to Mullion on July 23 is now off, replaced by an additional home friendly against Illogan on July 19. So the revised list is:

    Monday July 8th - Falmouth Town (H) 7.45pm

    Friday July 12th Mousehole (H) 7.45pm

    Friday July 19th Illogan RBL (H) 7.45pm

    Friday July 26th Porthleven (A) 7pm

The Reserves have two more friendlies confirmed, though one or two more may be added. They are:

Wednesday July 17th St Ives Town (A) 6.30pm

    Monday July 22nd Ludgvan (H) 6.30pm

The forecast looks pretty grim in Penzance for the Falmouth game tonight. Hope it doesn't deter the locals and the F-Troop.

Never been keen on teams relying on one prolific striker for success, I’d rather have a team of 5/6 players who could hit double figures in a regular season, as your star striker could get injured, suspended, go out of form, plus opposition teams often have a successful plan to cancel them out. Fundamentally, a successful striker needs a good attacking team around them. Ryan Richards, as well as other good strikers needed it last season.

Would love to see the stats of how many points Torpoint gained last season when Ryan Richards played, against how many when he didn't. Big difference I would think.

I can start to ease off the panicking, Buckland sign another two (Rafa Beadman from Exeter City and Frankie Jones a serving Royal Marine). Still need a few more signings in my eyes but at least the squad is taking shape.

Do you think promotion is the minimum expectation for Dan Hart this season?

This might be the case but you still have to take these chances personally there hasn’t been a better striker in local football in the last 20 years at putting his chances away

Adam Carter has been a great striker over the last 20 years or so, he seemed impossible to mark when he played for Darren Gilbert's all powerful Bodmin side.

I would mention Ryan Richards though. Prolific striker, and scored a bigger range of goals than Carter. Richards can score from distance, and is also a big threat running in behind. Neither of which are strengths of Adam Carter.

I like to think it’s a good thing that so many players get the opportunity to play a higher level then they would have played if they were born 10,20 years earlier , that being said you’ll see a lot more players play deep in to there 30’s because technically there still the best out there

Players fitness, diets and preparations are way beyond what you used to see at this level as well. Every team has proper warm up and warm down routines, not just blowing into their hands and a couple of short sprints. Most teams (even in the Western League) used to have one or two in their side who were carrying a bit of weight and didn't really run (not going to name them, but they were still really good footballers) and might have been partial to the odd cigarette. You just don't see them anymore.

Don’t think Carter enjoyed the travel with going into western league etc.  certainly won’t be at parkway. He struggled in that league and again didht want to travel.  Prob end up liskeard.

Adam Carter is probably good for 30 plus goals a season in the SWPL, which is a sad indictment of the quality of the league.

Falmouth seemed to have made a good fist of it. Slowly and surely, with increasing crowds over a number of years. I’m confident St Blazey could to the same in their catchment area.

Previous St Austell manager Mark Smith, who was promoted from their ECPL side, talked on the CS Podcast about the quality of local youngsters that he had and introducing them into the first team. Assume they have all moved on?

It's half and half, you split the profit or loss on travelling and everything else. You're making a loss normally on home rounds in early games.

In the days when a coach or travelling could be £800 (as one team claimed last season) then it's loss making exercise.

Would be interesting to see what Falmouth received from the Great Wakering Vase 1/4 final match last season. The official gate was given as around 600 when, to most observers who were there, it felt like the crowd was at least double that. Pretty inconvenient (or convenient?) that the card terminals at the turnstiles went down, and it was cash only for most of the people that hadn't pre bought tickets.

It wont, as Torquay will win the League. Paul Wotton is a great loss to Truro City and not keeping hold of him will probably be something they will regret big time. He`s signing players of a great quality for not only the league that they aim to win and get out of but for many leagues higher, geographically Torquay Utd is a  better place club to attract players of higher calibre. many supporters are really excited about what's happening at the club, thus season tickets and merchandise has rocketed.

They're certainly throwing everything at it. Dan Hayfield and Jordan Dyer, both brought in from Bath City (they seem unhappy with the manner in which Torquay conducted themselves here) in recent days, were amongst the best players in the NLS last season. The new ownership and management is certainly generating a lot in terms of buzz and revenue which, together with Neil Warnock's myriad of connections and contacts, will mean that they can bolster the squad as and when it is needed.

Truro City must be looking on very enviously at this, although they can look forward to a potential sell out at Langarth when Paul Wotton takes his new club there for a league visit.

Not sure what the Vase application fee is but you get a losing F A prize money even from the first tie-

Being successful can be lucrative as Falmouth saw last season receiving around £11,000 from F a competition prize money..

The F a Vase has that mystique and adventure about it and  into the unknown also being early season its likely to be a sunny/dry colourful day.

Not the same for Falmouth this season being in The F A Trophy which doesn't have the same magic or appeal to it.-Being a step 1 to 4 competition the early rounds will be against clubs from their own SL 1S league (22 clubs) and step too far from the York City's. Yeovil Town, Oldham etc

The FA Trophy has nothing like the same kudos as the Vase. NL sides who have interest in promotion and relegation view it as a distraction, they have much the same attitude as the Premier League clubs display in the League and FA Cups.

The Vase is, to my mind, the premium knockout competion in England and Wales. Every club who's in it gives it a good go.
