  1. Artsakn? Though that was just off the main road between Callington and Launceston, near Swingletree.
  2. Does feel a bit that way.Wonder if players were approached, but either declined or were discouraged by their clubs. Do find a lack of players from either Saltash or Falmouth strange, as well as no Devon based players from either Parkway or Tavi. As a Parkway fan, I would have thought that Jordan Annear, Ryan Lane and Billy Palfrey (both born in Looe) would have walked into this squad.
  3. Liam Prynn or Josh Grant from Tavi? Think they're both Cornish born.
  4. What are the thoughts on here regarding the Kernow squad named? Seems very Bodmin and St Austell heavy, no Falmouth or Saltash players involved.
  5. Some of the comments on here would be a good motivation tool as well.
  6. Bit of a disservice to these players, and the whole project. Jack Bray-Evans and Harry Downing in particular are decent young players who could catch the eye, make it in to the main squad and then have the chance to showcase themselves as young Cornish talent. Would be very interested in Steve Massey's opinion of the CONIFA project with regards to a Cornish side. I remember back in the mid nineties that he tried to raise the profile of the Cornish county squad when he was in charge.
  7. At the risk of opening up old arguments, St Austell should give step 5 a go then.
  8. My good mate The Bald One tells me that Aaron has been outstanding for Parkway this season and , while he is gutted to see him go, fully deserves his chance at this level. Truro City are getting back a player that has really developed at Bolitho Park, much as Billy Palfrey seems to be doing.
  9. One for somebody from within the club, would Parkway take promotion if a top 2 finish was achieved? The chairman is obviously very ambitious, but is it a little ahead of schedule? I would expect that discussions about this are now happening.
  10. Can somebody post the Bodmin line up please? Genuinely have no idea who plays for them currently, they never update their website or post anything on Twitter.
  11. All to play for now. Top 2 and promotion looks possible, have to be right in the title race as well. Certainly have the all important momentum at the right time of the season.
  12. Would love to, the current Mrs Way Of The Park has other ideas unfortunately. She loves the regular Sunday evening highlights package though. 😁
  13. Went there many years ago, am I right in remembering that they play on the outfield of a cricket ground? Seem to recall that they the floodlights were on wheels as well. Anyway, another good midweek away win. Argyle are away on Saturday and a warm early spring day is forecast, so Bolitho should be jumping for the game against leaders Willand.
  14. Ok then, assuming all players are available, who would the folks on here pick for a Cornish born eleven to represent the county?
  15. Used to be known as the Harbour Fights by us Liskeard boys. Off limits to us (we weren't brave enough) back in the Eighties.
  16. There are always ways and means though of hiding "expense" payments away. For example, being paid directly by sponsors and supporters not the clubs. Have also heard of players being found jobs at backers businesses. Remember my Dad (who was a traffic policeman back in the eighties) seeing former West Indies test cricketer Eldine Baptiste cleaning cars outside a showroom in West Cornwall. This was obviously owned by the individual sponsoring him as the professional at a club down that way for the summer.
  17. The FA no longer distinguishes officially between pro's, semi-pro's or amateur. Since 1974 everybody is a "player", there is no distinction between what level they play at or what league they play in. This was a way of resolving the ridiculous days of "shamateurism" when teams were paying unofficial and illegal expenses in leagues in which it was officially barred, and which was impossible to stop. For example, the Southern League (containing many London area teams) was professional and the Isthmian League (mainly London & home counties) was amateur, but it was a fairly open secret that Isthmian players found brown envelopes in their boots. Pretty sure that nobody in the SWPL is on a pro-contract, so they would be on "expenses" not wages. Doubt they would be getting this through the summer months.
  18. Am I right in saying that Priory Park is council owned? Perhaps this is why the ground and facilities have fallen behind, no incentive to improve what is not yours.Tavistock, St Austell and Callington are three clubs who's ground and facilities have steadily improved over the years, possibly as a result of them improving facilities that they own, or have a long lease of.
  19. With the Parkway game being off, did Jordan Annear turn out for Falmouth?
  20. The taking/not taking promotion debate feels like the Cornish Soccer version of Brexit. Discussion/argument goes on for years, nobody is willing to see the other point of view and ultimately solves nothing.
  21. The crowds were always going to be down slightly due to the loss of the big local games against the likes of Tavi and Saltash, this was no doubt factored in by the people behind the scenes. The chairman knows that the club has to develop additional revenue streams to compensate for this, the re-development of the clubhouse ,and the extra facilities that this will bring, will go a big way to addressing this. Regarding the atmosphere being a bit flat at Bolitho, just as with the players and management, this is also a bedding in season for the supporters. New clubs being played mean that new (friendly) rivalries will need to be developed. Don't forget that Parkway were relative new boys on the SWL scene, and it took a while for them to be seen as rivals to the long established Cornish clubs and all this brought both on and off the pitch. Also, Parkway have attracted a lot of new supporters over the last year or so. They may be completely new to the local football scene, so need to acclimatise and form their own knowledge and habits.
