  1. They would play a decent style of football , keeping it on the poop deck.
  2. Parkway 0 Torpoint 2 ( Lewis Pacey,Sam West) (HT 0-1) Pretty miserable night for the defending champions right from when Lewis Pacey run through to score for Torpoint after 30 seconds . Parkway were lucky to get to the break only behind to this goal with the visitors hitting the post , having a goal controversially disallowed and Paddy West failing to score with a free header just yards out . The only Parkway effort was Shane Krac's long range drive that went over towards half time. The second half was ,if anything , even worse for the home side, and after Torpoint had hit the post on another couple of occasions, Sam West got the second when his effort squirmed through the legs of Josh Colwill into the net. The evening of Colwill and Parkway got even worse when he was sent off late on for handling outside of his area. The headlines will be all about Parkway tamely surrendering their unbeaten start, but Torpoint were the better side in all areas ,and were good value for the win.
  3. FA Cup Parkway 4 (Levi Landricombe , Andrew Neale,Jamie Bass,Oliie Critchlow) Buckland 1 (Gavin Hammon) (HT 1-1) Excellent win for a depleted Parkway side against the previously unbeaten Buckland . Parkway had a couple of scares in the opening 5 minutes when Ben Elphick pulled off a pair of outstanding saves , but a very physical Buckland team didn't produce too much after that and were fortunate to finish with a full eleven on the pitch. A very hardworking Parkway almost went ahead when Levi Landricombe stumbled and scuffed his shot at the keeper from close range, before some dogged work by the non-stop Andrew Neale resulted in a defence splitting pass for Levi to run clear and roll the ball beyond Tom Buckler. It was harsh on Parkway that Buckland got level just before half time when Gavin Hammon scored from close range after his initial point blank header was brilliantly saved by Elphick . The lead was regained though when Jamie Bass scored after his long range daisy cutter went in off the post before some fine work from Levi repaid the favour for Neale to calmly stroke the ball home, a place in the next round was confirmed when a brilliant piece of vision by Paul Heveran resulted in a deft lob over the keeper from Ollie Critchlow.
  4. Hopefully any money that the club does make on this will not burned through in a few years on average players demanding extortionate "expenses." I too will be sad to see Bickland Park go. A real football ground with lots of history.
  5. Partially agree with you Greenandblack . Thought Blazey were good in spells ,but going 2-0 down seemed to suck the life out of a few players. Lewis Coombes and Tornado Bello must be infuriating to play with and watch, the pair of them have lots of talent, but seem to lose interest and drift out of the match. Parkway were good without being impressive, an efficient performance where they scored goals at good times. A decent first game performance to shake the cobwebs away .You say it wan't a 5-0 game, but several good Parkway chances went begging ,and the keepr and defenders were not unduly bothered as the game went on.For Parkway, the new lads settled in well, but the Landricombes in particular were superb, Mike was a rock at the back and calm in possession and Levi was Levi ,sometimes tetchy, sometimes infuriating, but deadly when he gets in the mood ,his movement and pace can run defenders ragged, particularly when teams get stretched in the closing spell. He got himself up and running with four well taken goals. As for Blazey, on paper they look to have enough talent to finish high up the table, but Bobby has got to get his most influential players playing for 90 minutes, not just little spells here and there.
  6. The Lee Doel Shuffle seems to be in full effect Bodmin to ivy bridge Ivybridge to Bodmin Bodmin to Ivybridge And all before the third week of July !
  7. .... but wouldn't England love to have him . I thought Robben was finished as a major player after Euro 2012 , but he seems right back to his best .
  8. Alan Shearer was certainly a World Class striker from 1996-98 , I can also still remember how brilliant Wayne Rooney was at Euro 2004 , England could have won that tournament were it not for the injury he sustained
  9. And yet the classy players who England have produced in the last 40 years such as Rodney Marsh , Tony Currie , Frank Worthington ,Laurie Cunningham, Chris Waddle and Matt Le Tissier are derided as lazy, luxury players .
  10. Loving the World Cup so far ,a massive improvement on the bore fest in South Africa . I have a nagging feeling that the matches will become more closed up as the stakes get higher ,and this was borne out by some of the final group games . Anyway , after a bit of thought , here's my select eleven from the group stages . 4-3-3 Formation Goalkeeper - Guillermo Ochoa ( Mexico) Right Back - Mauricio Islas ( Chile ) Centre-Back - Mario Yepes ( Colombia ) Centre- Back - Vincent Kompany ( Belgium ) Left Back - Daley Blind ( Netherlands ) Midfield - Arturo Vidal ( Chile ) Midfield- Toni Kroos ( Germany ) Midfield -James Rodriguez ( Colombia ) Forward- Arjen Robben ( Netherlands ) Forward- Robin Van Persie ( Netherlands ) Forward - Lionel Messi ( Argentina )

  12. Doubt it . The same conversations have been going on around the England football team since 1970 ( apart from brief interludes in 1990 and 1996 ).
  13. Good round up Money Man , who are the new arrivals though ?
  14. Agree with The Bald One here . England just not good enough ( as we say after every tournament ) . The media have now turned from the usual " plucky losers" line , to the more familiar one of scapegoating an individual ( first Wayne Rooney , then Steven Gerrard and now Roy Hodgson) .This is a convenient and easy way of masking the more deep lying reasons , asking the question of how , not only the usual teams like Germany and Netherlands are producing international type players , but also countries such as Chile and Colombia . Don't get me wrong , players at a professional and international level are supremely talented , but our league and style of play is producing the hard running and tackling players that it requires to fit into the 100 mile an hour , almost basketball like English game . Which is what the paying audience in the UK and worldwide love and pay billions of pounds to watch .No good against international teams though . This though is not producing players who are composed and patient in possession , and calm and disciplined in defence . Witness the comedy defending from our centre backs , and the rabbits in headlights attitude of players who treat the ball like a hand grenade with the pin out when we have it. The harsh fact is that the players that the media spend two years telling us are great , are not the type of players required at this level .Sterling , Wilshire,Henderson ,Barkley and the rest are being overhyped , in order to be cut down as underachievers .For a reference point , see the media coverage of the " Golden Generation" ten years ago .The Premier League ( best in the world supposedly) will be back in August to suck the life out of most other football played in this country, and the tabloids, phone in radio shows and satellite TV channels will forget about the national team again . The comments from Stuart Pearce were enlightening , he spoke of his experience of running the Under -21 and Olympic sides , and of how it was impossible to get all the eligible players released by their clubs . The European Under 21 Championships and Olympic Games would have provided valuable experience for our young players of how to prepare for a tournament , spend time in a camp away from home for a length of time and how to mentally and physically manage the task of playing unfamiliar opposition , in foreign countries and in quick succession . Italy, Spain ,Argentina , Germany and the rest understand this , and use it as a finishing school for the full side . England ( or rather the club sides )can't be bothered .
  15. https://twitter.com/RockyNeal Heard a whisper that Bodmin have been busy as well . All I will say is that there will be a family re-union at Priory Park .
  16. Andrew Neal - Ivybridge to Parkway ( confirmed on Twitter )
  17. Interesting stuff as always Mike . Surely you've got a book in you about the history of Falmouth Town .
  18. Thanks for the kind comments regarding the Parkway programme Sir . Just wish that more people would buy one ....
  19. In Mike Landricombe , Levi Landricombe , Dan Hart , Lance Bailey and Gavin Coulton ,Parkway have got players that would fit right into the Truro , Bideford or Tiverton sides . There are other factors to consider besides money though , does the players family commitments allow this ? Do his work commitments allow it ? These are just two of the factors to consider . Providing these important factors are taken into account , it's not an insurmountable jump from Peninsula League to Southern League football . In the past year John Heveran ,Shane Krac , Ryan Richards , Steve Colwell , Warren Daw and Neil Slateford have successfully managed this .
  20. Agree with everything the Bald One said . After winning the league and league cup double over the weekend , the whole team just relaxed and played their football . I know that several managers from teams higher up the pyramid were watching last night , they were bound to be impressed by one or two lads and Parkway may face a battle to hang on to them over the summer . Lance Bailey and Will Stringer ,in particular , stand out as a couple of promising youngsters who deserve a crack at the big time .
  21. One match left to play in the Peninsula Premier this season , then we can get stuck into the summer player and managerial merry go round . Who's heard what about who's going where ? Who would just like to make something up ?
  22. Parkway 2 St Austell 0 ( Levi Landricombe , Will Stringer pen. ) ( HT 0-0 ) Two down , and one to go in the trophy stakes for Parkway . Tight first half with precious few opportunities in a first half that looked a bit of an end of season affair ,and a second half that proceeded in the same manner with extra time looking a decent possibility, came to life towards the end when Will Stringer strode out of defence like a tall ship in full sail to set up Levi Landricombe for a right footed finish and his 59th of the season . The victory was sealed shortly afterwards when Man Of The Match Stringer sent Jason Chapman the wrong way from the spot , this followed an amusing interlude when the referee appeared to show a red card to Chapman , when it was actually Martin Giles who had tripped Adam Carter and prevented the goalscoring opportunity .
  23. Parkway 3 Saltash United 0 ( HT 2-0 ) (Levi Landricombe 2 , Ryan Richards ) Parkway took the title after a pretty comfortable victory against Saltash United . Two first half goals by Man Of The Match Levi Landricombe took his total to 40 in the league for the season , and proved decisive over an Ashes side that played good possession football , but were restricted to long range efforts that were competently dealt with by the secure Ben Elphick against a Parkway team in which stand in sweeper Lance Bailey , Steve Colwell and Dan Hart were superb . Substitute Ryan Richards put the seal on the win late on . A bumper crowd that was counted at 682 saw a game a game that was played with little incident between two sides that wanted to play football , this also contributed to the excellent game that referee Phil Eddie had . I am struggling to remember any actions Mr Eddie took throughout the 90 minutes which , with so many men in the middle seeming to think that they are the centre of attention , is high praise indeed .
