  1. Great result for Millbrook. They may well be almost down, but they're not going without a fight.
  2. Not over yet for Liskeard, but 3 wins out the last 6 games on the home straight is not title winning form and it does feel a bit like the favourites have blown it. Same as you Both Sides, gutted. Most people (including myself) thought this was to be the Blues' season. By contrast, St Austell winning 5 from the last 6. The extra experience and league winning nous is telling when it matters.
  3. Would add your keeper, Morgan Coxhead, to that list and also George Newton of Blazey. Am I right in saying that even if Truro Res win the Peninsula League next season, they cannot get promoted? I think the Western League only accept Football League reserve teams.
  4. Not sure at the moment what value Truro City are getting from running a side in the Peninsula League. I understand that they need a progression pathway for the under 18's and want to keep the side together, but it is too big a gap to the NLS in terms of playing standard. Would think that a useful option would be for them to loan out their better youngsters to step 3/4 teams for playing experience, and then have them develop as potential first team players in the future. Something along the lines of what Tavistock do with their development program.
  5. Pretty much the same discussion everybody has been having regarding Truro City for much of the last 15 years. Regarding the new owner, he talks very well and sounds like he has good intentions, but (in my mind at least) I keep coming back to "what's in it for him?" We'll find out in the next 12 months or so what the new regime means for the club.
  6. What was with the hi viz vest, was he cycling home afterwards? 😀
  7. Pretty hard to disagree with anything Steve Massey says here. Said it before on this forum though about what a missed opportunity the Stadium For Cornwall was, especially as a 3G surface was in the spec. Would have quite comfortably hosted the Cornish Pirates, Truro City, Cornish Rugby League and still had the capability to host multiple step 4, 5 and 6 games when needed.
  8. A good start in the league will do wonders for attendances. Not sure when Langarth will be available, but a few pre season friendlies in Cornwall would also be good in building awareness and links to the locals. Definitely need to add a few in key positions, also a bit more squad depth required. Suspect that there might be a bit more transition on the playing side than we've seen recent seasons, a few of the older Plymouth based players are probably reaching the end of the road at step 2 level. Do think that the coaching and support for Paul Wotton needs looking at. It's basically just him and Stewart Yetton at the moment, which contrasts with the small armies of staff that you see at some other NLS clubs.
  9. One or two "coupon busters" (avid Football Pools players will recognise the term) in amongst the results yesterday with wins for Tiverton, Harrow and Hayes against high flying opposition. All of them teams that are in and around Parkway in the survival scrap. A pretty bad day all around for Lee Hobbs' side, lot for him to do to in picking the side up for the 2 big "6 pointer" midweek away trips that are next up.
  10. Well done Truro and Paul Wotton. Thought at the start of the season that keeping City in this division would be a huge achievement, even more so considering the chaos it became. Wotton deserves the Manager Of The Season award for this. Now to start planning for 2024/25 in the new home.
  11. Both sides dropping points at the top today, but Falmouth will be happier than Helston this evening. Pivotal week in the Western League title race upcoming.
  12. This will now set a precedent for every other league I would think. Bit too late to avert the fixture chaos and player welfare issues that we're now seeing though.
  13. I wouldn't put money on Jack Bray-Evans,Reece Thomson or Matt Wright being at Parkway next season. Would think that Dylan Jones will be on the radar of clubs at 2 level, and they will do well to keep him. Another summer of transition upcoming at Bolitho Park I would think.
  14. Not so much of a title run in for both sides, more like a couple of closing time drunks lurching towards the kebab shop.
  15. Teenage defender Keon Sanniola made his debut last night, I assume that he is on loan from Forest Green Rovers. Truro must have made a whole bunch of these signings on transfer deadline day to bolster their squad. Parkway must be wondering what could have been when they look at the numbers through the gates for the recent City "home" matches with Torquay and Yeovil. Would have almost have been like a couple of lucrative pre season friendlies in terms of food and drink sales.
  16. There is certainly a Ben Seymour sized hole in Parkway's forward line (he scored something like a 3rd of their league goals last season) and he has never been replaced. Problem is, where do you find such a player on Lee Hobbs' budget? See that Tony Lee, possibly the league's best striker, has been prolific since his move from Poole to Totton. Wouldn't have thought he came cheap. Back to back defeats have certainly tightened it up again at the bottom end of the table. Parkway are locked on 42 pts with Hayes and Hanwell, who they have yet to play. Given how many sides are on between 47 and 40 pts with a minimum of 3 to play, it could be a repeat of 2018/2019 where 49 pts sent Basingstoke down. Parkway go to already relegated Didcot on Saturday, 3 points there will calm a lot of nerves ahead of an always tricky trip to Poole on Tuesday. 2nd bottom Harrow basically need to win all their last 3 matches to have any chance of survival and look close to the trap door, so I would stick my neck out and say it is then 2 from Supermarine, Hayes, Hanwell and Tiverton joining them.
  17. Parkway skipper Ryan Lane is now out long term with an ACL injury. Hope we don't see similar with other players as a result of this horrific fixture scheduling.
  18. A few club treasurers would certainly enjoy the sight of a coach or two of hungry and thirsty F-Troopers turning up on a Saturday.
  19. Add Willand and Bideford to that list as well. The league would certainly have a very Devon & Cornwall look about it. Unless something very badly goes wrong, I don't think Parkway will get relegated. Tiverton, I'm not so sure.
  20. As with Truro, just a case of the players dragging themselves to the well a few more times. Get the couple more wins that should see them safe, then forget that the season ever happened. Hopefully this campaign won't leave a lasting impact both financially and in terms of supporters losing interest.
  21. Yes, if all the scenarios above happen as you've described, could be a very interesting summer for transfer movements. The great unknown is how many players in the promoted teams can't or won't commit to the extra travelling commitments. Happens to a certain degree every season.
  22. As they're both step 4 clubs, assuming that both grounds are graded as suitable for step 3 football then. 6 (!!!) home grounds this season, Bolitho Park must be in a hell of a state as it's only hosted 2 matches since Jan 30th (around 11 weeks). The loss of revenue from home matches for them and Truro (plus the added expense of effectively playing extra away games) must be killing Parkway.
  23. Carl Fletcher, ex Argyle player/manager and former team mate of Paul Wotton's, is involved at Bournemouth. Believe his role is overseeing players who are out on loan. Massive 6 pointer for City at "home" to Torquay tomorrow night. A win could just about see them safe.
  24. To be honest, would think that all the board and management are focusing on at the moment is somehow getting the season finished. No matter where and when the fixtures are played, 10 of them have to be fulfilled in the last 20 days. Don't forget that ,just like the players, these people have day jobs and families as well. Must be taking a big toll on them.
  25. Yes. Absolutely no truth in the rumour that the next Parkway documentary series will be called "Round Our Way- And Anybody Else's Way That Will Have Us."
