  1. This job is a massive task for anybody looking to take it on . Being Liskeard born and raised , and a regular at Lux Park for many years , I do find it very sad what is happening at this great club . Probably a sign of the times though that relatively new clubs ( Parkway,Buckland Athletic and Godolphin) are thriving , while some of the stalwarts of local football ( Liskeard ,Falmouth and Penzance) are struggling . St Austell and Exmouth have shown that clubs can revive their fortunes if the local support is in place , hopefully Liskeard can do the same .
  2. Parkway 6 Blazey 0 ( HT 3-0 ) ( Levi Landricombe 3 , Sam Hillson ,Jamie Bass, Ryan Richards) Another convincing win for Parkway . A pretty even opening in which both Keepers had to make smart saves , but once Levi Landricombe and Sam Hillson scored within a few minutes of each other midway through the first half and then Jamie Bass cut in to score from the left wing to make it 3-0,then it was effectively all over as a conquest by half time . Levi added a couple more in the second half to grab his hat trick , before Ryan Richards got the goal his efforts deserved in stoppage time at the end of the game . Parkway were able to leave Danny Lewis on the bench and introduce him midway through the second half , and bring Luke Rundle on for his first game since breaking his wrist a month ago as they could afford to take both the Landricombes and new Dad Gavin Coulton off with time remaining . Full credit to Blazey ,they never stopped working and forced Ben Elphick into a few saves even though they were completely outplayed . Young winger Lewis Hayward in particular looks like a fine prospect for the future ,while Tornado Bello will cause defences problems this season .For Parkway Dan Hart and Steve Colwell controlled the game from midfield again , while Jamie Bass and Sam Hillson both put in all action performances
  3. I assume that Launceston were at full strength ?. Old ones are always the best........... and of course the referee knew what he was doing in this game I take it Absolutely peerless .
  4. Parkway 6 Launceston 0 ( ht 2-0) ( Sam Hillson 2 ,Ryan Richards, Levi Landricombe, Danny Lewis ,Mike Landricombe ) The general discussion before the game was that we would take a 1-0 win as we were worried about a bit of a hangover from the Clevedon game , and that it is against opponents that we usually involved in tight encounters with . Launceston actually looked the more likely side in the early exchanges , but once Sam Hillson put Parkway in front with a calm finish, then Parkway took complete control of the game . From then on Parkway dominated against a very good Launceston side that could have gone joint top with the right results this evening .It was the best display of the season so far from Wayne Hillson's men , and showed that Parkway are very much title contenders In Mike Landricombe , Gavin Coulton , Steve Colwell , Dan Hart and Danny Lewis we had players tonight who were on top of their game and looked a class above the opposition .
  5. Evening Monty , It was an opinion of what I saw during the game . Yes , it was tainted by my obvious leaning towards Parkway , but I have no axe to grind with any officials and consider myself to be at the opposite end of the spectrum from the usual droll form of referee abuse . I do though believe that it was a sub-standard display from a set of officials that are presumably of a higher level in the referees rankings than we usually see in the Peninsula League . He was in clear view of all the offences listed previously , but chose not to act . Just by way of balance , he/his assistant also missed a glaring handball by Danny Lewis (Parkway) in a decent position for Clevedon.
  6. Good morning Monty , I am not in the referee haters camp , I appreciate that it is an incredibly tough and thankless task ,I do believe that some of the players and managers who constantly harangue match officials need to examine their own mistake littered performances before they criticise . It is though a measure of how poor this group of officials were that I feel moved to post something . At the end of the day though , I know it was not the officials that lost us the game , they were not the one's that misjudged the cross for the goal or missed efforts when they were through on the keeper .
  7. Clevedon Town 1 (Ross McNab ) Parkway 0 ( HT 1-0) Parkway's FA Cup dreams and their 100% record for the season may have ended today , but they can come away from the Hand Stadium with their heads held high after a narrow defeat against opponents 2 levels higher in the pyramid . It was an even first half in which Parkway played the better football , but also one where a big and physical Clevedon side looked a constant danger from set pieces and crossed balls . Indeed, Parkway could certainly feel slightly hard done by when they went in a goal down after Ross McNab'scross-cum shot found the back of the net via Ben Elphick towards the end of the first half . Parkway started the second half on the front foot , and a got a good spell of pressure going in which the impressive midfield trio of Steve Colwell ,Dan Hart and Danny Lewis controlled the game . Unfortunately , Parkway didn't manage to trouble the home keeper at all during this period ,with one glorious opportunity in particular going begging when Levi Landricombe screwed his right foot effort wide when through on the keeper . If I am honest , I cannot say that Parkway got enough efforts on goal to merit a replay , but equally , Clevedon didn't threaten Elphick's goal either in the second half . On a separate note , I am not one to criticise referees , but today's official was poor . He seemed very hot on the minor issues, and seemed to relish long blasts on his whistle for minor offences, but took no action with regards to a stamp on Marc Bonney , a head butt on Steve Colwell and a 2 handed shove on Levi Landricombe in the penalty area .
  8. Andrew Moon deserves huge credit for coming in a few weeks before the start of the season and building a completely new team from nothing .I thought that this season would be transitional after John Cole's champions from last season broke up over the summer , but it looks like I could be proved wrong .
  9. Parkway 4 Bridport 2 ( HT 2-1 ) ( Parkway Scorers - Levi Landricombe 3 , Ryan Richards) The Parkway bandwagon rolls on with 8 games played and 8 games won . Levi Landricombe found his range after one or two misses to bag a couple with smart finishes to put Parkway in control ,only for Bridport to score from a very harshly awarded penalty after Will Stringer was adjudged to have handled . Levi completed his hat trick soon after the break , before a lengthy injury delay (while the referee received treatment prior to being forced off) seemed to take the momentum out of the home sides performance . Bridport pulled it back to 3-2 after a spell of pressure after the restart , but a superb Ben Elphick save ,and then a deserved goal for Ryan Richards after Gavin Coulton had strode out of the defence on the break ,restored the 2 goal advantage and sent Parkway through to the next round of the Vase .
  10. Parkway 4 Ilfracome 1 ( ht -3-0) ( Parkway scorers - Richards ,L.Landricombe (2),Lewis ) Straightforward win in the sun for Parkway as the game looked won by half time with goals from Ryan Richards and a brace by Levi Landricombe . Understandably enough , given the hot sunshine and the scoreline , Parkway didn't play with the same tempo in the second half , but still had chances to extend the lead . Ilfracombe scored through their most likely route when they nodded in a corner late in the second half , but Parkway restored the three goal finish when Danny Lewis wrong footed the keeper from close range after a being played in by a cheeky back heel from the outstanding Dan Hart . Clevedon Town away is the next stop in the FA Cup .
  11. Parkway 3 Exmouth 1 ( HT 2-1) ( Parkway scorers - Steve Colwell,Danny Lewis,Ryan Richards) Make sure you're not late getting into Bolitho Park these days ,Steve Colwell scoring inside the opening couple of minutes as Parkway made a strong start . Exmouth showed why they had a 100% record before today when they came back strongly and equalised inside the first 20 minutes . Parkway took the lead against the run of play before half time when Danny Lewis knocked a loose ball in from close range , and that seemed to take the sting out of Exmouth . Ryan Richards then ran through to slot home a third early in the second half to give us a two goal cushion .This always looked like it would be enough . Our best performance so far this season , Levi Landricombe and Ryan Richards seem to be gelling together as a pair upfront , Danny Lewis was superb in midfield and Gavin Coulton looked assured on his debut in defence . We now take a break from the league for a couple of weeks to concentrate on the FA Vase and FA Cup .
  12. Gave it all of 90 minutes ..... way off the mark more like. Carts is a bud of mine and I don't think you have the right to comment unless you no the full story. everyones circumstances are different. I understand your frustrated because you were close to having carts but he has opted for another side get over it. I have nothing against Adam Carter , and only know him as a player who has been a prolific goalscorer in the last few seasons ,and yes , you are right , I would love to see him in the Parkway side. But whatever his reasons for leaving Tiverton ( and I am certainly not privvy to them ) I cannot understand why he would play 30 minutes of football for Parkway and then leave . From what I understand , people at Parkway put a lot of last minute work in to secure his registration for Tuesday nights game ,and were under the impression it was a full time move . It is human nature that people are bound to wonder what changed so drastically in such a short time .
  13. Marc Bonney was the name you're missing . Sam Hillson on for Danny Lewis and Darren Hicks for Levi Landricombe were the other substitutes .
  14. At least you can keep your X XXL away shirt now .....
  15. Not enough people taking up the whistle due to constant abuse and hassle / work commitments /having better things to do , established refs also giving up due to the reasons listed before . Fewer numbers of referees left means that the more mediocre ones are going further up the pyramid , this means that the referees that were of a park standard 20 years ago are now officiating at senior football levels and beyond . I also agree with the bit about some referees being too matey with some of the players , this is bound to happen though as they see these teams many times over the seasons . I always notice that referees who take charge of FA Cup and FA Vase games are not local appointees and so have little knowledge of the players , sometimes it means they are more subjective and make decisions on the merit of the incident , and not the players prior reputation .
  16. How did parkway do and who scored Bovey 0 Parkway 1 ( Danny Lewis) (HT 0-0) Bit of a copy of the Blazey and Saltash games . Parkway started very brightly and looked very good ,but didn't take their chances during this spell , and a very hardworking and committed Bovey side came right back into it as the half went on . The deadlock was finally broken when Danny Lewis glanced in a header early in the first half ,chances then came and went for both sides in a very physical , and at times , bad tempered second half . Parkway were hanging on a bit at the end and were relieved when the final whistle went . First big test of the season will come against an Exmouth side on Saturday who have also started with a 100% record in the league .
  17. Parkway 2 ( Colwell , M.Landricombe) Saltash United 1 ( Hughes) HT 1-1 Pretty fair summary of the game . The way Parkway started I thought we would blow Saltash away , we didn't build on that though and it's all credit to Saltash that they equalised and saw out the first half looking stronger . Luke Rundle ran the Ashes ragged in the first part of the game , and we lost our most potent weapon when he didn't appear for the second half . We were always going to need a set piece winner as , just as against Blazey on Tuesday night , we seemed to be more ponderous and lacking in ideas as the game went on and spurned the decent chances we did make . The system we are playing seems to rely very heavily on the wing backs getting forward .With Rundle having to be replaced after injury and Paul Heveran being shifted into an unfamiliar left flank role to replace him , we seemed to lack penetration . 3 games played , 3 won is pretty good though , especially when you consider that we haven't put together a consistent 90 minutes yet . I thought the pitch looked fantastic,The groundsman must have put a lot of hard work in to get it like that , Its grass...how hard can it be ![/ Why don't you spend the day with the groundsman and you'll be surprised hard it can be...... Or are you another talker and not a doer... I would also guess it's not his full time job either! Give him some credit! The Parkway way groundsman spent pretty much all summer working on that pitch , and he will spend most of his evenings and weekends during the season maintaining it .
  18. 19. Famouth 2 Parkway 5 ( HT 1-2) ( Luke Rundle 2 , Ryan Richards 2 , Will Stringer ) Got the win on the first day , which is the first objective given how other fancied sides slipped up . Still a bit of a work in progress with all the new signings and a new formation , but 5 goals away from home is never to be scoffed at . We were very good in spells , and not so good at other times . But a few games and wins will hopefully sort that out , it's early days yet . Ryan Richards, Luke Rundle and Paul Heveran were the pick of the players
  20. This is really depressing . I'm speaking as someone who grew up in Liskeard and spent many afternoons watching Bradley Swiggs, Steve Daly, Steve Nute, Geoff Battams and many other local greats .
  21. Parkway would have won this if not for Kevin Miller . He pulled off 6 world class saves during a 10 minute spell in the second half . The main conclusions I would draw from this game are ; 1 . Parkway have a lot of new signings , and they are still settling in . 2 . Not convinced by the Parkway 3-5-2 formation . 3 . Do not write Bodmin off this season .
  22. The usual mass migrations of players from club to club . The exit door from Elburton Villa in particular seems to have been pretty busy . . Danny Brook seems to hold the honour of becoming the first player to regret his initial decision/receive a better offer . Two clubs by July 2nd is doing quite well . The musical chairs will carry on well into the season, players don't often like warming benches .
