  1. At 3-1 we missed a sitter and had a good shout for a penalty turned down. It could have made for a different game. After that though Camelford scored 3 and could have had more. One great shot that smashed against the bar. At least we have a game on tuesday to try and put things right straight away at Falmouth. Heard that there were one or two little rumblings of discontent with some of Bobby's tactics and team selections , anything in this ? Personally I think that Bobby deserves loyalty for the way he stuck with it last season , but is he the man to take the club forward ?
  2. Agreed . One or two clubs may have to think the unthinkable in years to come . Especially clubs that are in the same town/city .
  3. Really sad story . Always thought of Barnstaple Town as one of the traditional old names of non-league football in Devon and Cornwall . I did overhear a local Plymouth defender boasting about how much he was getting to play up there a couple of seasons ago . He was either exaggerating , or it was , in the light of this story ,completely unsustainable .
  4. Fourth win on the trot and only two points dropped so far this season . Parkway got the first probably against the run of play as it was Newquay who started the brighter , from then on it was a text book away win . Solid defending , good possession football and quick conversion of defence into attack . Good to see Sam Cooper among the goals , that will do him a power of good . Jamie Bass and Mark Berry were both bright on the flanks , Warren Daw and Lance Bailey continue to impress in central midfield and Jon Heveran led a solid backline . Myself and The Bald One stood amongst the Newquay fans in the second half , heard one remark that this Parkway side were the best team to visit Newquay for a long time . No "stars" and no "ego's" in this side ,just a bunch of players who really seem to want to be there and are growing together . Special mention for the tasty pasty at half time , and the pitch that showed no signs of cutting up despite the constant downpour the match was played in .
  5. Club every time . The "second team" should only exist to support the first team
  6. We're six weeks into the season now , there must be players who are unhappy at being left out , not seeing what they were promised pre-season or are plain being looked at by other clubs . Anybody got any good one's .
  7. Think the Celtic analogy is good one ( Cetlic cannot go anywhere else though ) . Do agree though that Bodmin are roadblocking other clubs with ambition . In my opinion , if they continually refuse promotion then they should forefeit prize money from winning the league and be barred entry into the FA Vase and Cup . ( I've lit the firework , now I'll step back)
  8. There was a manager called Bunney . Who took on the teams with no money Of all the managerial posts He was talked about on here the most But to concede 11 goals , it's not funny .
  9. why are you being so kind, plum,no i can think of lots of names, plum doesn,t come to mind Im starting to get the feeling Im not very well liked amongst my fellow FFF (Football forum friends), The only one that seems to like me is "Pastyman". I honestly dont know what I've done??? If you read through my posts, their never intrusive or personal and its always football related (Apart from Chris Wright Barnet). Give me a break fellas!!! Ken (Downbeat Ashes nut) Keep it going Pragmatist . It's boring on here with no wind up merchants .
  10. Changed my opinion on Gavin Coulton .Always thought he was style over substance in past seasons, but the last couple of occasions against Parkway he has played in a deeper role in the backline which seemed to really suit him .We certainly couldn't handle it earlier this season when he started to stride forward and pass the ball around . Cracking own goal least season though at Bolitho Park
  11. Parkway 3 Bovey Tracey 0 (Chris Wright 2,Ryan Richards ) HT 0-0 Turned into a good win for Parkway on a cold, wet night in front of a pretty small crowd .Completely forgettable first half from both sides ( kept thinking that Ray Winstone's head was going to appear and offer the odds on a no-score draw) turned into a second half in which Parkway huffed and puffed ,but were denied by a combination of wayward finishing and the inspired goalkeeping of Tom Brooks in the Bovey Tracey goal .Luckily we had the ace poacher Chris Wright, borrowed from Buckland for the evening along with Danny Lewis ,on as a substitute to convert pressure into two well taken goals .Ryan Richards ran through late in the game to slot in the third and to round off a win from the sort of game I've seen Parkway drop silly points in before . Three wins from four in the league , a nice unbeaten start . Was interesting to see our General Manager deep in conversation with a certain Truro City striker before the game as well .Might he be looking for a club to play for in the near future ?
  12. Given their squad strength , Bodmin must be able to have a real go at the Vase . They should be able to rotate players in order to do this and also pick off star performers from other clubs if the need presents itself . With Buckland gone ,I would imagine that they will have the league sown up with plenty of games to spare . They big question is though ,will they take the promotion plunge ? Or will they carry on as big fish in a small pond ?
  13. And to be still playing at your ripe old age Roger is full testament to the powers of recovery that the human body has !
  14. Thus joining Shane White and Tom Barwell in the "three clubs before the end of September " club . Who will be the first to four clubs ? :(
  15. He is the most naturally talented footballer I have seen playing South Western/Peninsula League football in the past 10 years . I would even go as far as comparing him to Bradley Swiggs in terms of football ability . Should be at the peak of his abilities now and playing a much higher level .
  16. Excellent pictures . The one with the Truro keeper stood in front of the hoarding advertising "employment related guidance and advice" is a bit poignant .
  17. Agreed (mostly). The standard of football in Cornwall has been going backwards since Falmouth,Liskeard and Saltash came out of the Western League . Do think though that declining attendances are as result of the times we live in . More people have to work Saturdays nowadays , you also have live Premier League football on Saturday lunchtimes and teatimes . Football watchers seem happier to sit in their living room or pub watching on telly rather than getting out and watching the real thing .Likewise a lot of players , the five and six a side leagues are certainly thriving in the Plymouth area at the expense of the Saturday eleven a side leagues . Twenty years ago you had 6 divisions of Plymouth & District and 4 divisions of Plymouth Combination . We are now down to 3 divisions of a combined league .The standard of the top divisions was pretty high and it was a useful stepping stone for youngsters between the youth leagues and the senior leagues . A combination of different working cultures , poor council pitch facilities and the expense of running a park team have contributed to these leagues downfall . It is now more attractive to play in smaller teams on a decent playing surface, over a much smaller duration in the evening with decent car parking and changing facilities . Can't vouch for the Devon & Exeter league , but have heard that the once strong South Devon League is also in decline . To conclude I don't think it would have been any different if we still had the old SWL in place , we would have found something else to be nostalgic about . There are many other underlying reasons .
  18. 189 could have been the paying figure . There would probably have been a lot of officials, committee members, squad members not playing and media etc.etc. Am I right in saying that as Priory Park is a public park you can stroll in from nothing from the non-club entrance side .
  19. The appointment of officials has nothing to do with Buckland. Officials get to come to Homers Heath many times over the course of the seasons and obviously get to know people especially players. I strongly suspect that last nights ref Tony Cloak, has officiated Parkway on numerous occasions too ? I have to agree though , that yesterday evening was not one of his best performances...He let Parkway get away with far too much..... As on Saturday so on Tuesday.."Hand Ball Ref"....."Hand Ball Ref"....."Hand Ball Ref"......"Hand Ball Ref"....."Hand Ball Ref"...Not a valid shout in the house, and not a single claim for a valid penalty. !!!! Oh and BTW Tony Cloak hails from Barnstaple...Far enough outside the area for you ? From my point of view I did not think Mr Cloak had a bad game . Quite liked the way he diffused some incidents with well placed comments . There was a big shout for a Parkway penalty in the first few minutes as a result of a handball , I thought it was a sure thing myself , but there you go . There was also the small matter of both Jamie Bass and Callum Martindale having to come off after a couple of questionable challenges which went unpunished . The Parkway bench was not alone in some of their comments , I was in a position to hear some of the comments directed towards the assistant from the Buckland bench . Some of it was a bit personal at times . None of this influenced the end result , Buckland were simple the better side . Says a lot about them when you can leave players of the quality of both Dabby Gaze and Chris Wright on the bench . We had our chance last Saturday . No complaints from me , and good luck against Bath City in the next round . Still miffed about Mike Sampson getting served two eggs though ....
  20. Heard yesterday that Glyn has indeed moved back to Parkway . Speaking to the guys that I stand with at the ground , we all seem to have mixed feelings about this and what it will do for the team dynamic of the club . Hoping that we get the man who was virtually unplayable at the start of last season , and not the man that I saw playing for Tavvy at the end of the season who looked unfit and uninterested . Fairly safe to say that he needs to win a few people over .Lots of talent, but lots of questions as well .
  21. Well its all about taking your chances in front of goal, the 3 chances Parkway had , one went 20 feet over the cross bar, another 20 feet wide and the best chance came off the cross bar to be easily snatched up by Kenny. Buckland too had their chances, but a series of great saves from your keeper (your man of the match for me) kept you in the game. As the game went on I thought Parkway were starting to flag in the heat, and Buckland looking like taking the winner, but I would settle for the draw on the day, as going down to Parkway is never an easy game, especially when there is £3k up for grabs and in front of a 200+ home crowd. Now to raise your game again on Tuesday night, looking forward to it, should be a great match You're right in what you say , had the feeling leaving the ground that this was Parkway's chance . We needed to take one of those chances that we had in that 15 minute spell at the start of the second half . Buckland finished the stronger side and a big mention for Ian Evans (our third choice keeper) who came in and pulled off some superb saves .We are a side that are improving week by week , I really think we can raise it again in the replay . Looking forward to a nice meal in the superb clubhouse at your place on Tuesday night .
