Reported on social media that Mousehole have signed 19 year old striker Jaylan Wildbore. Described as a tall and powerful player, he was most recently playing for Southern Prem Central side Stratford after being released by Fulham at the end of last season. After Evander Grubb, is it a condition of any strikers signed by Mousehole that they must sound like a character from a Dickens novel?

Seems like a very even league, with nobody really pushing away at the top or getting cut adrift at the bottom. Few wins and you rise up the table pretty quickly, few defeats and you fall like a stone. Just looked through the superb Football Club History Database, Falmouth met Tilbury in the 3rd round of the FA Vase of season 1999/2000. They drew 1-1 at Bickland, and then lost on penalties after the replay finished goalless. Long old trip to deepest Essex, no doubt Mike Odgers will be able to provide more detail.

At what point, as clubs rise through the leagues, do you get to a stage where you cannot run purely on volunteers anymore? Pretty sure for example that step 3 AFC Totton have a paid Chief Executive. Managers, staff and players get paid (and are often on contract at this level), so why shouldn't secretaries, commercial managers and even groundkeepers be on similar arrangements? In their own way, they are just as vital to a club (if less visible).

Transitional season. Few good wins, followed by a loss or two. Great result for Exmouth, given their manager and squad, they really shouldn't be struggling.

Reads more like a job advert for a chief executive than a club secretary. Having spoken to people over the years who have held secretary posts at non league clubs, it sounds like it is almost becoming a full time job. The amount of administration, attention to detail required and the need to respond immediately is constantly increasing. Anybody who carries out this role has nothing but admiration from myself.

Cornwall having clubs in the Western League has added a bit of spice to the Senior Cup, just a shame Mousehole aren't in the competition as well. St Austell v Helston tonight looks like a really tasty step 6 v step 5 clash.

The National League is effectively Football League Div 3 now. The excellent Dorking Wanderers fly on the wall documentary series, "Bunch Of Amateurs" on YouTube shows how bloody tough it is to exist in an intensely competitive and demanding division when you aren't a full time outfit.

It cannot be any good for Parkway's coffers either with just 4 home matches played since the end of September. I know the games get rescheduled, but I doubt that midweek fixtures replace Saturday matches revenue wise.

No idea if it's because the pitch is waterlogged or frozen, but Parkway are desperately unlucky again. Forecast looks dry and sunny, but very cold, for the next few days in Plymouth. Hopefully Truro can get their games against Worthing on Saturday and Dartford next Tuesday played.

Steady on there my friend.. 😀. Bit of mid table mediocrity, and a non event last month free of relegation worries, would do City quite nicely. Accidentally getting promotion to the National League (stuffed full of ex Football League clubs and full time outfits with big followings and budgets), would be a leap into very dangerous waters. Superb run though, coincides with a few other teams in this division going backwards (Taunton's problems are well documented, and still trying to work out how Gary Johnson at Torquay is still in the job). Truro sit joint top of the last 6 games form table with Chelmsford City.

Yes, read that. Going to be a tough second half of the season at Wordsworth Drive. From the outside, they always looked a well run and sustainable club. Shows how financially precarious things can be for anybody at this level.
