  1. Their decision. Looks like, if everything goes to plan regarding the new ground in Truro, this will be the last season of this arrangement. Totally understand the reasons and motivation for it happening, but it's not good for either Parkway or City now.
  2. Extreme weather is now the norm, with the South West seemingly catching the brunt of it. How many storms have swept across the region in the last few weeks alone?
  3. Yes, one way or another, they get played. But is playing Sat- Tues-Thurs- Sat (or worse), good for the credibility of the league and general well being of the players (who mostly have full time jobs on top of these expectations)? It becomes solely about getting fixtures completed. I remember what Parkway looked like in the final away game of last season after their punishing April schedule. Round pegs in square holes, a few obviously playing injured and others running on empty.
  4. Switching the upcoming St Lukes tie against Willand away from Bolitho looks like a very wise decision.
  5. Parkway and Truro have 4 home matches each scheduled for January. Cannot see any way that they'll all get played. Still 26 home league matches to be played in the remaining 17 weeks of the season between them, looks like March and April are going to be chaotic months for the Bolitho Park groundstaff.
  6. The sooner that Truro are in their own stadium and playing on their own pitch, the better, A bumper Saturday weekend crowd has now been lost, and with it the chance for City to keep their good run of form going. This current arrangement isn't good for them or Parkway. Going into January and February (which are usually the worst months weather wise), there will no doubt be many more postponements.
  7. I did the matchday programme for a couple of seasons for Parkway in 2012/13 and 2013/14 (the Peninsula League days). Used to love putting it together and trying to come up with new and interesting content that people would read (wished more people would have bought it). Remember well the disappointment of putting them together for a match that was called off, and the scramble of trying to produce 2 or 3 in a week for the inevitable fixture pile up come March and April. Given these reasons, I can understand why the on line only version is more practical, but it's just not the same. Give me something you can hold in your hand, lean on the railings reading at half time and keep as a souvenir. Clevedon just keep going. Back on top again after winning their 10th league match in 11 games. The wise amongst us keep expecting them to fall away, but they don't.
  8. Decent run of form since the new owners arrived, and it was announced that Paul Wotton and Tyler Harvey were handed new long term contracts and that the prospect of being in the new ground for 2024/25 looks pretty certain. Coincidence? Probably not. 8 point gap now between City and the bottom 4 (and a few games in hand on all of them), but still a lot of hard matches ahead this season. 24 fixtures in the last 18 weeks or so of the campaign, and the small matter of the condition of the Bolitho Park pitch to factor in as we head into the harsh months of January and February, means that staying up will be a big achievement. With new owners in place, and the purse strings possibly loosened slightly, would think that a couple of new faces are needed to reinforce and freshen up the squad and provide more options/cover. On the subject of Torquay, amazed that Gary Johnson is still in the job. Reading their various fan postings on social media, unhappy is an understatement. If they do make a change, would Wotton be one of the names in the frame? Possibly one of the reasons why City were keen to get him tied down.
  9. Shepherd scores goals, and has done for several seasons now, not surprised that he's been noticed. Deserves his chance at a higher club (even if if is on an occasional basis). Will focus minds at Helston on the need to get promoted, and how it will help them fend off approaches for their players from step 3/4 teams. Same goes for Falmouth as well.
  10. Know that Truro were relying very heavily on loan signings a few seasons ago, and Paul Wotton spoke of looking to move away from this policy. It is a great way of getting quality players into the club, but the long term planning and risk of them getting recalled at short notice (remember the chaos at Parkway when Harry Lee was suddenly needed back at Exeter last season) would worry me. On a positive note though, shows that pro clubs trust Tavi with their prize assets.
  11. An honest question regarding Tavi, what's the fan's thoughts on the amount of loan players in the line up at the moment? I counted 4 starting and 1 on the bench, is that a good thing? Not sure if they train with Tavistock, or stay with Exeter, Argyle and Parkway and only join up on matchdays.
  12. Falmouth are in the great position of having decent crowds (although they, like everybody else, probably wouldn't mind a few more). Surprised that clubs don't try a few innovative ways to lure a few more through the gate. Boxing Day would have been great for some sort of "local ground hop", with fixtures staggered through the day and a discounted ticket to cover the package. With most people off work for the week between Christmas and New Year (and no doubt desperate to get out of the house for a few hours) would staggering the Boxing Day games ,with some on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon/evening be possible? Will be interesting to see what the attendance figures for the 26th December are.
  13. Steady lads, still 6 days to go yet... 😁
  14. Used to love a Boxing Day 11am kick off. Match finished by 1pm, all afternoon on the beer. Great days.
  15. Would imagine that people on here who use pseudonyms and aliases for their postings, use real names when putting stuff on the various social media platforms. Can't see how concerns about GDPR would be any different.
  16. Wilson and Massey. The new Leonce and Rapsey.
  17. Great idea Dave. Changed my user name accordingly.
  18. Are locally born entrepreneur, Ezra Chapman and his Endorsed Academy still associated with Mousehole? It was advised back in 2017 that he was one of the architects of the "five year plan" that the club has since embarked on with great success, and reportedly signed a long term, 5 year, sponsorship deal around this time. He seemed very influential at the time, and spoke about taking a very long term approach to identifying and developing talented Cornish players. Remember as well that there was speculation back in 2019, as reported in the Western Morning News at the time, that Chapman was in negotiations to buy Truro City.
  19. Good template for Saltash. Just got to find a goalscorer, no doubt Macca Brown is searching high and low.
  20. Just heard that Chesham travelled down by train, tragic circumstances caused the long delay.
  21. Parkway 3 up, but still playing. Game didn't kick off until 4.30pm as Chesham got stuck in heavy traffic.
  22. Backs up what Macca Brown said on the podcast this week. Falmouth have pushed the boat out on two strikers who are proven at this level (who both scored), Saltash are searching for one. Goals win games, that is the bottom line I'm afraid.
  23. Was impressed when I saw him play for Truro v Chelmsford recently. Harrison, Sam Sanders and Ed Palmer form a physically imposing and solid looking back 3. This signing, and locking both Paul Wotton and Tyler Harvey into long term deals, would appear to show that the new owners are providing more funding.
