  1. Getting a permanent keeper in had to be a priority signing. He's Plymouth based and experienced at this level, we'll see how it works out.
  2. Thoroughly enjoyed this documentary. The bit at the end where Jake Ash says that the club "isn't stopping here" made me think that this journey has a long way to go. Step 3 football looks a realistic shout in the next few years. The club appears to be built on solid foundations, has sustainable financing and a large army of very dedicated and knowledgeable people behind the scenes. The biggest concern that I would have in the short to medium term is that the impressive manager, and a few of the players, get noticed by bigger clubs higher up the pyramid. Do have a couple of questions though, when did Mousehole decide to seriously embark on this project and why? And, used to hear a lot about Ezra Chapman and the Edorsed Academy, are he/they still connected to the club?
  3. Tom Purrington from Tiverton is confirmed as the first new arrival. Ex Argyle, and is described as a "box to box midfielder. "
  4. Put your hard earned money into the Cornwall Football Forum Crowd funder instead.
  5. Heard rumours that Curtis Damerell will be playing his football on the other side of the Tamar next season.
  6. Announced by Tiverton Town as a new signing for the upcoming season. To be honest, step 3 is where River Allen belongs.
  7. Good luck to him. Can't be accused of a lack of loyalty as I'm sure he would have had plenty of chances to move over the last few seasons. Quite some forward line there at Torpoint. Unless either Curtis Danerell or Ryan Richards have been lured away.
  8. "People used to laugh at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian. Well they're not laughing now." - Bob Monkhouse
  9. Hopefully Darren keeps last season's squad together and gets them over the line and back into the Western League (where they belong). Expect a few of the Cornish step 5 clubs will be casting an eye over some of the Blues players though.
  10. Truro playing PSF's in Cornwall seems like a decent idea to me. Build a bit of awareness around the Cornish fans, and show them how good the side is ahead of the hoped for move back to the county.
  11. Can think of several from Mousehole that would fit Parkway very nicely, and also live in Plymouth and the surrounding area. Would not think they would be willing to leave behind what Jake Ash has built down there though.
  12. Quite a sad moment for me, a league that has had many great clubs and produced some superb players. Back in the 70's and 80's, Western League clubs certainly did not relish trips to Combo clubs in the Senior Cup. Along with the equivalent East Cornwall League, it was a very strong second tier of football in the county. Understand completely why it has gone, but something has definitely been lost. Also, just looked at the first league table from the 1960-61 season and compared it to the final 2022/23 table. Just 4 clubs appear in both the first and last versions; Porthleven St Just RNAS Culdrose Helston
  13. No shortage of plot twists in this soap opera. The piece on the BBC website advises that they are hopeful of completing the new ground by March 2024, which is around 9 months away. If so, they must be well underway with the construction work by now. Can anybody local to that area confirm this?
  14. If you don't like it, you could always get your own ground...😁
  15. Interesting read in todays' Herald. Lee Hobbs talks about the departures from Parkway this week, being realistic with the club finances, how he wants to go with a bigger squad next season and hinting that the squad rebuilding is well underway with new signings to be announced soon. https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/plymouth-parkway-see-four-key-8468682
  16. Hampton is a lovely place to watch football, fully intend popping over there to watch the SW sides in action. Ben Seymour is a pacy striker who looks to play on the shoulder of the last man, finishes well and not afraid of early snap shooting. A downside is that he has suffered with hamstring injuries, possibly one of the reasons why Exeter let him go. A season of dropping down a level, playing every week and scoring regularly has worked for him (and Parkway).
  17. Key player for the Ashes last season in the holding midfield role, and the type of player Parkway haven't had since Christian Pople. BIg leap from step 5 to step 3 though. Smart money is on Tiverton.
  18. And potentially problematic for Millbrook as well if he goes back to his old club for players. Good luck to Macca and Mark at Saltash. An experienced duo who work well together, hopefully will instill a bit of stability at The Ashes.
  19. Further work on the pitch and floodlight upgrades were two of the projects I heard about. Then of course, the upgrades to make it a step 2 compliant ground need to be done by March 31st 2024 (no idea who or both of Truro and Parkway are paying, or if the "tenants" are wholly meeting the costs).
  20. Did he not realise that Plymouth was 120 miles away from Bristol when he signed?🙄
  21. Blimey, yes. Few "busts" in last year's summer recruitment. Could add Reece Shanley to that list. Some of the loans brought in during the season didn't exactly set the pulse racing either (Harrison King, Adam Parkes and Harry Lee being notable exceptions to this). Agree with trying to develop some homegrown players. Some of last season's successful under 18's had been playing regularly at Pensinsula and Western League clubs. Know it's a big jump to step 3 football, but perhaps a few could be looked at in pre season. Former Exeter City schoolboy, Dylan Jones, who scored hatfuls for the under 18's, did get a couple of runs off the bench at the end of last season. I know the "Parkway Pathway" of trying to bring youngsters through was a big thing for former coach Matt Cusack, wonder if it slipped down the priority list a bit when he left? You cannot really hold Lee Hobbs accountable for youth development, his focus will be getting a winning first team together and being competitive in the league.
