  1. Believe that Josh Bissett is ex of Hartpury Uni, and has appeared a couple of times for Exmouth Town in Southern League Div 1 this season. Just the calibre of player that Jake Ash will be looking to bring in for Step 4 football next season (should they achieve it).
  2. Don't know how true it is, but heard that Truro had until March 31st to get ground for next season sorted (or face a possible 2 step relegation back to the Western League). This would have put Parkway in a pretty strong negotiating position, no idea if City had a plan B in place.
  3. Yes, would think that if the league allow a 12 month grace period, then that would be based on a level of confidence about the new stadium being ready for 2024/25.
  4. And remember, if Truro get promoted to the NLS, it will be a minimum of 44 (instead of 42 this season) home matches to be played at Bolitho as it's a 24 team league.
  5. No surprise really that the game at Bolitho is already off. Sensible decision by all sides to have a Friday afternoon pitch inspection, a big headache though now trying to fit this rearranged game in somewhere.
  6. The worry at Liskeard (as with the other leading Peninsula League clubs who spent big with an eye on joining the new merged league) must now be that the step 4 and 5 outfits will come calling for their leading players. Would think that the likes of Harvey Mullis, Harry Jeffrey and Dan Jennings will be on various wishlists.
  7. Seems evident from the comments made by Mark Russell (Parkway chair) in the official statement, that it was a difficult decision for the club to reach. This really has to be the last season for this arrangement, getting to the stage where it's not beneficial for either party. Completely agree with what you said Sportsman, Truro need to get back to Cornwall.
  8. Plenty of players from non league clubs in Devon & Cornwall (even up to step 3 level), seem to go on holiday during the season. Just seems to be accepted now.
  9. Looking at the weather forecast for the Plymouth area, the match v North Leigh on Saturday at Bolitho must already be doubtful 8 more league games (4 for each club) ,still to be played at Boitho in the 3 weeks of the season remaining. Could also be required for Truro play off games on top of this. Was always going to be tough getting a minimum of 42 league games played on a relatively newly laid pitch, but Gaz & Co must be desperate for it to stop raining and the sun to come out for a day or 2.
  10. With rumours swirling about Shane Krac being in charge at Western League Blazey next season, could see several of this squad being at Blaise Park for the new campaign.
  11. Assuming that Tiverton v Parkway will be re arranged for the midweek commencing 17th April as it's the last midweek date available this season. Any more postponements after this will cause more headaches. If Parkway do play at Bolitho on Tuesday night, then Truro v Bracknell on Weds must be very doubtful. Would be a real disappointment if a match that could have a big baring on the title and play off places doesn't go ahead, also not obvious where it could be fitted in.
  12. Regardless of squad strength and numbers, any side would miss players of the quality of Mikey Williams and Ben Seymour. Callum Hall and Jack Crago are also two underrated players that fulfill big roles for Parkway. Both are badly missed when they don't play. The goalkeeping situation has become a bit chaotic since Harry Lee was recalled by Exeter. Two more signed ahead of the league's transfer deadline, Shaun Semmens (ex of Godolphin) and Lewis Moyle on a dual signing basis from Mousehole. Anybody's guess who will wear the number 1 jersey away to Tivvy on Friday. Lessons there about the perils of relying upon loan signing goalkeepers.
  13. Thanks for correcting me Gary, thought it was top 2 go up as of right.
  14. A below strength Parkway side with key players Callum Hall, Jack Crago, Mikey Williams and Ben Seymour only included as subs and featuring their 3rd keeper in as many matches with Liskeard's Sam Borthwick the latest man to wear the number 1 shirt, took a beating at the hands of play off chasing Chesham (their 1st win in 7 league games) as they slipped to their 2nd consecutive away league defeat. Quick turn around now with Tiverton away on Friday night, Lee Hobbs will be looking to turn around a run of only 1 win and a draw to show for their efforts in the last 5 away trips.
  15. Ashes 5 Barnstaple 2 By my crude (and often incorrect) maths, I reckon that this win leaves Saltash needing 5 points from their last 4 matches to guarantee a top 2 finish and promotion.
  16. Given the rain that fell in the Plymouth area last week, the fixture against Harrow would probably not have got played in similar conditions 12 months ago. As the late, great Older said on here previously, newly laid pitches need 2 full growing seasons to bed in. This is the 2nd since Bolitho was re layed, so it is only going to get more resilient with time. Expect that repair work and improvements will commence as soon as the last ball is kicked in April. Of course, long term it needs to go back to 1 team using it (any official word on where Truro will be playing their home matches in 2023/24?).
  17. Overall, a good day for the Cornish clubs. Saltash, even while not playing, gained from both Mousehole and Bridgwater dropping points.
  18. What a result for Truro, puts a bit of breathing space between 3rd place Bracknell and 4th place Chesham (they will be hoping that Parkway pull off another Tuesday night away special when they go there in midweek). Sounded like a job well done for Parkway with a 4-0 win over Harrow today. A potentially tricky game on a difficult pitch against a team scrapping for their lives in the relegation zone (from a selfish point of view, i want to see them and Hendon survive) . Goals from Dan Rooney, Ryan Lane, Adam Carter and an OG saw them nudge close to the 50 point mark, which should see them safe in this league. Eyebrows may have been raised by some (including myself) when 35 year old Carter was brought back into the squad, but he showed why Lee Hobbs made this decision with, what sounded like, a well taken goal (his first in his debut at step 3 level incidentally). Doesn't auger well for Tom Bath's long term future at Bolitho though that he was subbed off to make way for him. Ben Seymour missing today, and reportedly being a doubt for Tuesday's match, would have been his chance to impress up front. With the highly impressive Harry Lee being recalled to Exeter last week, wonder if Parkway will be using dual registered "cover" keepers to fill this position for the last 10 games of the season. Jack Arthur (Crediton) played on Tuesday, Jordan Duffey (Saltash) today. Will be interesting to see who wears the number 1 shirt v Chesham on Tuesday night with both these teams in league action.
  19. What's happened to Kyle Moore? Not featured for Helston in the last couple of games.
  20. Yes, you are right. Truro will want to avoid bogey side Chesham though. The higher finishing side will get a home draw in the play off final, which will be vital.
  21. Haven't got the stats to hand, hopefully someone else has, but Truro's season tailing off quite badly last season led to some pretty extraordinary public comments from Paul Wotton regarding his players. Made myself, and others, think he would walk away last summer. Was obviously backed very heavily by the club and, on paper, looked like he strengthened the squad considerably with good signings being made ( 2 from champions Taunton), and key people being retained. Also used the loan system well (Adam Porter from Salford in particular looked a very acquisition). Do wonder what he sees in Ed Palmer and Matt Wright though, both look very slow and out of place in the side. Agree with your point about Danny Sullivan, have seen City a few times this season (both with and without him) when he is playing and on form the team clicks. When he doesn't, they look average. Tyler Harvey, for all his undoubted talent, can be a bit anonymous and remind you of the reasons why he isn't playing league 2 or step 1 football. Even allowing for the strength of this league I would say yes, he is underachieving. They should be closer to Weston, and look in danger of losing that vital 2nd place (and home tie in the play offs) to Bracknell. If they don't get up this time around, will the club back Wotton in much the same way for another big tilt at in 2023/24 (and will he have the same appetite), to get the locals back in Truro enthused about a hoped for homecoming in 2024/25. It never gets any easier in this league though, I would think that Plymouth Parkway (to name just one) will get a lot closer to Truro next season (whether it is by tempting a few players to switch over from all white to yellow and blue, we shall see).
  22. That's 25 in the league for Liam Prynn this season, and he sits on top of the SL South top scorer chart by quite a distance. Class player, sure he must have had offers from other clubs during his time at Tavi (know one or two Parkway fans that would love to see him at Bolithol).
  23. Wonder if this is the beginning of a merry go round of managers and players at local clubs this spring/summer. Expect many, like Darren Stewart, were thinking that they would be involved in the new step 5 league next season. Ivybridge certainly have a lot of young talent in their ranks that Stewart has brought in, no doubt the Devon based step 4/5 clubs will have them on their radar. Given Stewart's coaching abilities, and knowledge of young talent in the Plymouth area, I doubt he'll be unattached for long. It was rumoured that he was approached for the Saltash job before Shane Krac was appointed.
  24. Another superb home win for Parkway as they again take points off a play off contenders, and which means they haven't lost at home in the league since August. An early goal from Austen Booth gave them the lead, with a late Ben Seymour penalty sealing the victory. That top 5 position probably beyond Parkway, but they can have a big say in who is involved ,with Met Police visiting on Tuesday. Topsy-turvy nature of the league underlined again with Chesham and Poole dropping points, and Truro losing at Merthyr. City must be looking over their shoulders at Bracknell, who have won again and sit 8 pts behind them in 3rd, but with 4 games in hand. Special mention as well for Tavistock, who shrugged off recent poor form to beat leaders Sholing at home.
