VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS OF HELSTON ATHLETIC V KEYNSHAM TOWN
Ian Pethick replied to Piran's topic in Jewson Western League
Have to say that Lee Hobbs got the call right with Kyle Moore. Parkway legend as they rose through the leagues, but Adam Parkes (in the few times I have seen him play) has a calm authority and consistency about him. Moore, to say the least, can be highly strung and looks always to have an unforced error in him. Jordan Copp has always been an enigma. Quick, intelligent, great technique and genuinely two footed, but too often just seems to lack interest and disappear from games. -

Not sure if Danny Sullivan is unfit, or just out of form (saw he got subbed off again on Saturday). When I saw them early in the season against Hanwell and Hayes, he was very much the player that made them tick. Got into the space behind the forwards and made things happen. The recent downturn in performances came after he was forced off with, what looked like, a hamstring injury during the first half of the Chesham defeat. For a player that relies on pace and movement, it can take a bit of getting over. -

Truro's dip in form continues. Only 1 win from their last 5 in the league. Tyler Harvey and Rocky Neal have only scored 1 each in this run. -

Swindon v Parkway already off. Pitch failed a 4.30pm inspection, and minus 5 forecast overnight for that area. -

Don't think that scoring goals is Liskeard's problem (scored 8 in their last 3 league games), but they appear to be leaking them ( 10 conceded in last 3 league games). -

Adam Carter scored a hat trick, reports of his departure obviously pretty wide of the mark. Hopefully this result will calm things down a bit at Saltash. Looking at the starting line up last night, this is still a strong looking group of players. (No Jake Miller though. To be fair, him spending 6 months at one club is almost testimonial territory). Hope that Liskeard do get into that top 4 and go up. But only 1 win in their last 5 league games does mean that it's by no means a certainty. -
If correct, hope the board at Parkway are thinking very long and hard about this. It might well be an eye watering sum, but at what footballing cost? After today's cancellation, it is getting close to fixture chaos in the 13 weeks left available. It is only mid January as well, still the potential for many more waterlogged or frozen pitches af Bolitho.

FIXTURE OFF! Wednesday 18 January 2023

Don't envy the person who's got the job of trying to fit in all the fixtures left to play at Bolitho Park this season. Still only mid January as well... -

FIXTURE OFF! Wednesday 18 January 2023
Ian Pethick replied to Dave Deacon's topic in The Pitching In Southern Football League
Hopefully this doesn't fall victim to the weather .Between Truro and Parkway, 20 home matches still be played on Bolitho Park over the last 14 weeks of the season. -
Oscar Massey was highly rated at Argyle, and a few were surprised at him being released. Third spell out on loan this season from Swindon though, and hasn't exactly set the world alight at Hungerford and Wantage. New manager in at the Robins who possibly doesn't fancy him, and the signing of Charlie Austin will have also pushed him further down the pecking order. More forward options and support for Ben Seymour badly needed. Theo Simpson, Jared Lewington and Ollie Hulbert have already been tried so far this term. Will be interesting to see if Tom Bath does get games ahead of Curtis Damerell and Ryan Richards at Torpoint. Can only think that there are fitness and availability issues around the pair of them. Willing to give Bath a chance at Parkway, from what I heard, he struggled last season with playing as a lone striker. Currently, Lee Hobbs is going with a front two, so he may look more comfortable in this formation. Big achievement in that he has got to the stage of being ready to play just over seven months after such a serious injury.

Success in Cornish football
Ian Pethick replied to Martin Eddy's topic in The #CornishFootball Main Discussion Board
Good post. One measure of success is getting multiple sides out on the weekend (both men and women). Wendron is the one that obviously springs to mind, there are others though. Also think it can be measured by how many active committee members and volunteers they have. Mousehole look to have an army of well organised and dedicated people behind the scenes. -
Met Police 1 Parkway 0 Can't really say the Met Police were much better than Parkway, home supporters said as much. But, as you would expect from an experienced side at this level who are on the fringes of the play offs, they were just a little bit better at key parts of the games, and took their chance when it came .They scored from close range midway through the first half after Parkway's centre backs misjudged a free kick from the right. This ironically came after a 10 minute spell when Parkway were on top and looked more likely to take the lead. Parkway had the bulk of the second half possession, without really creating much, and it was the Met who looked the most likely to get the next goal as they were happy to play on the break (hitting the post at one stage). Parkway seemed to lack ideas, composure and a cutting edge in midfield, and I don't remember Ben Seymour having any clear opportunities. It must be a real conundrum for Hobbs as what needs to be done in order to reproduce the strong home form on the road.

Gone under the radar on here (understandable given it's a Cornish forum), but good luck to Brixham in their FA Vase last 32 tie. Always an achievement to get "beyond Christmas" in this competition. -
Bude January Signings!?
Ian Pethick replied to Cornishfootyfanatic's topic in Walter C Parson Peninsula League Forum
Could send them off in Truro City's direction once they've finished...π -
Good signing for them. Southern League Prem bit beyond him now, but still very capable at Div One South level and adds lots of experience and leadership qualities to their squad Makes sense that they bring him in with injuries and suspensions at centre back for Tavi.

Have to wonder what the motivation would be for a serving committee member to do this. If there is anything in this , then surely there's enough going on at Saltash United currently to occupy their time and energy without embarking on this kind of vendetta. Whatever your opinion of Dane Bunney as a football manager, it is a bit beyond the pale. If evidence exists of such activities by individuals, is it something that the CCFA would be interested in pursuing?

get rid of all football pundits, they are clueless

Agree with you St Darren. Kicked Talksport, 5 Live, Sky Sports and the others years ago. My life has only been improved by purging myself of the Premier League, Champions League and the rest of it. -

Pretty sure that VAR, and the various rules and interpretations surrounding the offside law, only exist to give Talksport something to fill their schedules with.
