  1. Predictably, the league tonight between North Leigh and Parkway has fallen victim to the freezing weather. Would think that the FA Trophy trip to Barnet on Saturday must be doubtful as well. Their game against Yeovil at The Hive tonight has already been cancelled .The forecast is that the night time sub zero temperatures with daytimes being barely above this, will last through until Sunday in North London (when it's replaced by heavy rain).
  2. Chesham v Parkway off. Frozen pitch. Another long midweek trip awaits...
  3. Could be a few more matches off through frozen pitches tomorrow.
  4. Quick glance at Full Time shows the Penryn St Piran's side have 68 players registered, with 38 having made an appearance this season. Makes me wonder how many players that sign for various clubs in the numerous leagues are actually active and available.
  5. Good reasons why the World Cup shouldn't be played at this stage of the season, and why this must never happen again. "FIFA.For The Good Of The Game." Don't make me laugh.
  6. Has to be seen as 2 home points dropped by Truro, Chesham breathing right down their necks now. They could leapfrog them into 2nd place on Saturday. 3rd league defeat on the spin for Tavistock last night. How many years since that last happened?
  7. Was interesting to hear Reece Thompson on the podcast a few weeks ago talking about the reasons why he left Saltash, and how he feels he has developed as a player at Mousehole. Is this a similar scenario? Thought I have had regarding Mark Goldsworthy. Is he now surplus to requirements at the Trungle, and could he be a straight replacement for JBE at Falmouth?
  8. Bracknell 0 Parkway 0 A big away point and, apparently, Parkway could have won it deep into injury time. After considering the context of this result ( 410 mile round trip on a freezing cold December Tuesday, to play inform play off contenders) is this the best away result in the club's history? Doesn't get any easier though, need to follow this up away to Chesham on Saturday.
  9. No word on if he's injured from club. Harvey missing, and Matt Wright looking at a 3 game ban for a straight red card, explains why striker Colin Oppong has been brought in on a month's loan from Salford.
  10. Tough looking 7 days for Parkway. Couple of long trips to in form play off contenders Bracknell and Chesham, followed by a must win away journey to bottom side North Leigh next Tuesday night. Despite the recent uptick in home results, and the games in hand on teams around them, need to pick up points on the road now they've dropped back into the relegation zone. Only 1 win and a draw from the 7 away league games so far.
  11. Kyle Moore joins the growing ranks of Parkway old boys at Helston. The Bentley brothers, Jordan Copp, Steve Colwell, Reece Shanley, Isaac Burdon and Teigan Rosenquest. Not forgetting Matt Cusack as well.
  12. Hanwell v Parkway game still advised on Southern League website as a 12.30pm kick off (moved to avoid a potential England last 16 clash), don't know if that's still the case. Would involve a pretty early start from Plymouth with a 5.30-6am departure I would think. Can't make it to this one, which is a shame as it's a nice ground to visit. Have heard that one or two exiled Argyle fans are planning to attend.
  13. Yet another Parkway game falls foul of the weather, tonight's rearranged game at Poole called off. Means that they have only played 1 league match in November (plus 1 FA Trophy game). Read recently about a 2 year drought in Northern Kenya, perhaps scheduling a Plymouth Parkway match there would bring much needed rainfall.
  14. Good call on Exmouth. They have also steadily risen through the leagues over the last few seasons and, as with Tavistock, have a core group of players that have been with them since the Peninsula League days and a stable managerial team. Decent attendances as well, a quick check of the Southern League site shows that they attract an average of over 300 for home games. Have heard rumours over the years that step 3 clubs have had a look at Stuart Henderson, wonder if the same is true of Kevin Hill?
  15. Heard Parkway v Met Police was called off around 10 mins before kick off, with both teams changed and warmed up. Understand that given Parkway being 5 or 6 games behind some other teams in the league now, and not being at Bolitho again until Boxing Day they would be desperate to get the game on (and I would imagine that huge efforts went in from the groundstaff to make it playable) but given the weather this week, the poor forecast for that afternoon, the recent history with the pitch and the distance Met Police had to travel (I would imagine around 4-5 hours from Surrey) this is not a great look for the club. Speaking to the Chesham fans this afternoon, they were amazed that this happened.
  16. Finished 3-1 to Chesham at full time. Truro pretty flat in first half and created little with Tyler Harvey,in particular, barely noticeable, and got caught 3 times by some pacey and incisive attacking ( down the right flank especially) from the home side. A miserable half that was compounded by Danny Sullivan going off pretty early on with what looked like a hamstring injury, and then Ed Palmer getting a straight red for, what looked like, an off the ball punch. City looked more like themselves in the second half, and seemed to look better with 10 min. Harvey reduced the arrears, and then sent another effort narrowly wide before the home keeper pulled off a stunning close range double save first of all from Harvey, and then sub Matt Wright. Had City got it back to 3-2 at this point, it would have been a very interesting last 20 minutes or so. Instead though, they received a 2nd straight red with Wright striking a Chesham defender with an elbow in an aerial challenge. A bit of a game of 2 halves at the top of the table on a pitch that, despite the amount of rain it has taken recently, looked like a carpet. If anything it was too hard, and the steady 2nd half rain made the surface a bit slicker and improved the match. With Weston also slipping up, a very good day for Chesham.
  17. Nothing official from Parkway on their various media channels.
  18. Teignmouth reporting on their Twitter that Parkway have withdrawn from the St Lukes Bowl, and given them a walk over to the next round. Probably the right thing with the Parkway fixtures starting to pile up, speaking to people in Plymouth, Saturday's game at Bolitho against Met Police must be doubtful. Hopefully, somebody at Devon FA towers is giving some thought as to how to revise this competition and make it relevant again.
  19. Just looked at the forecast for the SW for Saturday, looks like driving rain for much of the day. There is always the risk of playing on these already waterlogged pitches, and destroying them for the next few weeks (club treasurers will no doubt have one eye on the lucrative Boxing Day fixtures ,which are just over a month away). Doesn't seem like long ago that everybody was effectively playing on scorched earth, with players having to be substituted due to blistered feet.
  20. Like the way that the side gradually evolves under Stuart Henderson as well. A few inevitably move on each season, but he seems to be good at uncovering gems that fit nicely with what he has. Still has a core group of players in Josh Oak, Warren Daw, Josh Robins, Ben Cross, Dan Evans, Josh Grant, Liam Prynn and Callum Watson that have been around since the Peninsula League days.
  21. Tavistock superbly negotiated their potentially awkward Wednesday night trip to Paulton last night, with a 4-1 away victory Liam Prynn grabbed all the goals in an incredible 2nd half, 16 minute spell. Know that nobody who follows the Lambs posts on here, and it has gone slightly un noticed that they are now up to 2nd place in the Southern League Div1 South. Long way to go , but would not be surprised if they are playing Parkway in the Southern Prem South next season.
  22. Parkway travel to North West London to play Barnet in the FA Trophy on the 17th December. The Bees are currently 6th in the National League, so this would make this the highest ranked team that Parkway have played in competitive matches (not counting the Devon St Lukes Bowl, the pro clubs usually field their youth/reserves line ups).
