  1. Only 6 goals conceded in the first 10 league games is a marked contrast to last season. Add this to the potent forward line, and it makes you real contenders.
  2. Curtis Damerell has developed into a top class striker (sometimes wonder if he was discarded by Parkway a bit early). Are you having doubts about the current Mousehole forwards?
  3. Oxford City 1 Parkway 1 Back to Bolitho on Tuesday night for the third successive replay in the FA Cup this season. Parkway came within minutes of a causing an upset after substitute Jack Crago's late 25 yard screamer was cancelled out in stoppage time. Backs to the wall display with City enjoying the majority of possession, and Lee Hobbs sounded slightly disappointed that they didn't take one or two other chances to seal the result. A big positive though is that, in the last two matches, the flow of second half goals conceded has been stemmed.
  4. More of the usual condescension shown by the media towards non leagues when the FA Cup comes around. "Plucky underdogs, enthusiastic amateurs, always struggling, taking time out from the usual grind.Club run by eccentric local business man." Accompanied by shots of a sprinkling of elderly supporters.
  5. Would think that just getting the same eleven on the pitch every week would be a good start for Dane. The current revolving door is no good for anybody.
  6. Totally agree Richard. As I keep saying to my mum and eldest brother (who still live in Cornwall) when they also bemoan a lack of investment, "then stop voting for the ..." (sorry, almost strayed into politics there).
  7. Just a thought, and think it's been discussed on here before but, if you are sent off, should a player be given the option of reducing the ban by attending a referee training course? This would be in the same way that if you get caught speeding, you are given the option of doing a driver awareness course as a way of reducing the penalty. The players might end up understanding more fully why they received a red card and, who knows, might even be tempted to give reffing a go.
  8. All of these grounds, with the exception of the Bath Rec. which is owned by a trust, are all privately built and owned. There were incentives and grants from local authorities regarding land and infrastructure, The current plight of the Worcester Warriors rugby club, who play at the impressive looking Sixways Stadium just off the M5, is very much a warning of how a shiny new ground is no guarantee of future prosperity.
  9. If (as strongly rumoured) Truro City are back in Cornwall next, and going well at step 3 (or possibly step 2), then it will be interesting to see how it plays out between them and Falmouth (especially if, dare I say it, Town have a poor step 5 season). Accept that there is a sizeable hard core F-Troop, but no doubt there is a lot of floating support in their attendances, including many former Truro fans. Helston is a strange one. Heard it was a miserable evening weather wise, and Millbrook might not bring much travelling support, but 78 through the turnstiles to watch a step 5 team that has gone unbeaten in 14 games since losing on the first day, is not good.
  10. You certainly need an ace goal scorer at this level. Parkway have one in Ben Seymour, Truro, just like Poole, have two in Rocky Neal and Tyler Harvey.
  11. How ironic that his first game back will be away to the Met Police...
  12. The Cornwall County football team is, to all intents and purposes, a thing of the past. The less said about the Kernow FA/CONIFA adventure, the better.
  13. A good example of this are always individual club's live match updates on Twitter. When comparing them, sometimes seems like they're watching two different games.
  14. Didn't know Tony Lee had gone back there. Prolific striker, think Torquay has had a look at him in the past Do they still play at the speedway stadium?
  15. On paper, a great idea. In reality? No chance. Not a rugby union fan, and don't follow the sport. So no idea of the game's current health in Cornwall, the support that the Pirates get and how other clubs/fans in the county regard them.
  16. Good luck to Dane Bunney. He proved a lot of people wrong when he took over at Saltash, although the previous manager left them in a pretty good state.
  17. Owen Howe getting sent off? Who would have thought it. 😁
  18. Must have been a huge sigh of relief around Bolitho last night after the first win being achieved. The way the season has gone so far, even at 3-1 late in the game you couldn't be certain. Significant that Mike Landricombe was left out. One of the great Parkway players of the last 10 years, but starting to show falibilities at step 3 level. Don't know where it leaves Tyler Ashmead and Reece Shanley as well with Harrison King coming in on loan from Exeter, would seem to indicate that Lee Hobbs is not convinced by his current right backs. Free hit against Oxford City in the FA Cup on Saturday, but Yate, Poole and Harrow (all away) in quick succession. Need to pick up points against these clubs as they are all likely to be involved in the relegation scrap.
  19. The rest of the league must be hoping that Saltash can take something off Bridgwater tonight.
  20. Bodmin announced the signing of Lyle Johnson from Liskeard just hours before Matt Hayden was removed. He either didn't know what was coming, or is it a player brought in at the request of the next manager?
  21. Falmouth and Helston just can't avoid each other!
  22. Given the pedigree of Jake Ash in this competition, would fancy them for a run deep into the Vase. When the draw expands, clubs would not fancy a trip down to Trungle Parc.
  23. Mousehole going up to Shepton Mallet (played 7, won 7 in the league) and winning 5-1 is quite a result.
  24. Good chance for Town's youngsters to measure themselves against those from a professional set up. Hope the F-Troop turn out for this. Said it before, but I think Monday night football is something that merits an extended trail at step 6 level. Especially as it would avoid Champions League football (heard on CS Podcast that some think attendances at local matches are down on these evenings).
  25. Not been mentioned here, but Truro kept their unbeaten league start to the season going with a 1-0 win against Gosport. A Rocky Neal penalty in stoppage time at the end of the game secured the points. In contrast to their landlords at Bolitho, that's two consecutive clean sheets in the league (and no more than 1 per match conceded in the 8 played) . With the quality of City's attack, the sort of defensive record that they are putting together almost guarantees that you are going to get something from each league game.
