  1. Curtis Damerell has become a really potent player in the Torpoint attack, and has come back well after a disappointing spell at Parkway. Wonder if clubs from higher levels have made a note of his goal scoring record and had a look. Know that Bideford and Tiverton both keep an eye on players in Cornwall, and have given them a chance in the past.
  2. Mikey Williams still to come back (was injured, now newly married from what I gather), he has the ability to be a game changer. Also see that Louis Rooney is signed on. Was a class act, but played very little football in the last few years. Doesn't get any easier for Parkway. Away to Gosport next Saturday, and then one of the pundits tips for the league, Weston-super-Mare, on Monday at Bolitho.
  3. Truro City go powering on with a 3-1 win. Tyler Harvey makes it 6 in 4 games for him, including an absolute stunner to watch out for in the highlights. Only blot was goalkeeper James Hamon getting sent off. Another hard lesson in step 3 football at Bolitho sees Parkway lose 1 nil to Merthyr. Game of few chances I understand, with Jack Crago slicing an opportunity wide, then (minutes later) Merthyr taking their opportunity. Oh for Tyler Harvey in a Parkway shirt...
  4. Is Rio Daly related to either Richard or Steve Daly?
  5. Matt Wright signs for Truro City. This is presumably on completion of the suspension arising from football betting irregularities.
  6. Brings to mind the story about the man who enjoyed a brilliant recital by a classical pianist, and then had a chance to speak to him afterwards. "I would give up everything to be able to play piano like that," To which the reply came, " I did."
  7. The Nigel Martyn story shows that, especially if you live in Cornwall, making it as a pro is not just about talent. It's about bloody hard work, dedication, plenty of sacrifice plus taking a chance and going for it. Plenty of talented players around, but how many qualify on the above? If Neil Price reads this forum, then he'll be wondering what he's walked into.😀
  8. Accidentally strayed into 5Lives Premier League "coverage" a few evenings ago. Bloody awful. Where once we had Pat Nevin, Jimmy Armfield and Trevor Brooking, we now have motor mouthed, empty headed, controversy generators such as Chris Sutton, Micah Richards and Troy Deeney. "Off" button swiftly hit.
  9. Really hope Truro City get back to Truro, and as a step 3 side (at least). The clock really is ticking though, a new ground needs to be ready to go by next July (11 months away now). If this isn't going to happen, the owners (old or new) need to be working through options. Said it before, but we really need to be hearing something from either the Pirates or Truro City on this. Ps. I am absolutely no Truro hater, and am looking forward to watching them on their visits to the capital over this season.
  10. Don't know if Falmouth, like many clubs do now, were filming the match for future highlights clips, but, if they were, would there be a situation where it could be looked at for any retrospective disciplinary action to be taken? No idea if such a process exists at step 5 level.
  11. I would put Souness in the same category as Roy Keane. Great players from a very different era, who were respected but never loved. Both obviously pretty bitter about the way football has gone, and that modern day footballers who they don't consider to be anywhere near as good as they were, earn many, many times more than they ever did from salaries and commercial activities. These character traits made them both pretty poor managers as well. They can now both be angry, controversial and condescending from the comfort of the pundits chair in exchange for a pay cheque. I have exercised my right to ignore these two and the pack of former professionals as cheerleaders, half wits and "attention seekers for money" that spew out stuff that used to be known as analysis, and don't watch or listen to any of them
  12. Tyler Harvey and Rocky Neal in the Parkway attack would be the dream ticket, and I would love to know how close that has come to happening in the last season or so. Harvey in particular looks bang in form, and appears to be a lot fitter and sharper than the player I saw last season. If he steers clear of injury, it looks like a 30 goal campaign for him. Wonder if Parkway were alerted to the availability of Alex Battle before he went to Tavi? And, if so, was he considered?
  13. If they can keep the good start going, then hopefully a few more will make the journey (and a few curious locals might even have a look). Don't know how City are marketing the matches, but don't know if it would be workable to give reduced entry prices to Parkway season ticket holders for example. Or even capitalise on Paul Wotton's status as an Argyle legend by offering reduced entry to Argyle season ticket holders. Hopefully, some of the more local teams in that league will bring decent followings for 3pm kick offs. The likes of Salisbury, Tiverton, Weston SM, Dorchester ... and Parkway.
  14. Theo Simpson, high profile signing in the summer from Tiverton, has already departed Parkway. Jared Lewington, who featured and scored on Tueday night from Dorchester, has joined for an undefined period on a "short term loan" from Taunton Town. I would guess that it's to cover the suspension of Ben Seymour on Saturday, and the departure of Simpson. The revolving door of occupants of the centre forward position at Parkway continues.. (wonder if Adam Carter is awaiting the phone call. 😀)
  15. Exmouth, under Kevin Hill, have always embraced the "under the radar" tag. They have a very capable manager, a large and hard working committee, an experienced group of players, a decent size and very vocal supporter base and are very nicely located just off the M5 in a town of nearly 35,000. A club that will probably be near the top of that division this year. Sometimes feels like that the runaway train that is the Plymouth Parkway story overshadows how Exmouth and Tavistock have progressed. Looking at the scene around Devon, hard to come to anything but the conclusion that Buckland really need to get promoted into step 4 sooner rather than later.. In recent years, Parkway, Willand, Tavi and Exmouth have all gone past them. Mind you, already feels like everybody is playing for the runners up and second promotion place with Bridgwater flying out of the traps.
  16. Dare I ask, but many in attendance? Nice evening for it no football on telly, thought a few may have popped in to Bolitho for a look at Truro.
  17. Next season's merger of the Peninsula and Western Leagues will at least put a stop to players signing on for different step 5/6 sides.
  18. Not a good start, the second away game in a few days where Parkway have taken a lead into the break, but come away with nothing. While it needs to be remembered that Dorchester played over an hour against Truro last Saturday with an outfield player in goal, they are a team that most pundits expect to finish in the lower part of the table. As has been said several times by many people, this league is a significant step up. There will inevitably be many knock backs and setbacks this season, and possibly a few players who have been fixtures over the past few successful seasons falling by the wayside. Believe that Jarad Lewington is on loan from Taunton., but no word from the club regarding duration. Possibly to cover the suspended Ben Seymour on Saturday, and the unavailable/injured Theo Simpson (who was an unexplained absentee tonight).
  19. The team sheets for Sticker v St Blazey this Saturday will reveal all.
  20. Pretty sure Boris Johnson was on the podcast last season....😁
  21. Who's next to go? I would say Harry Pope at Godolphin. They've had a good start, and he sounded very upbeat and enthusiastic on the podcast. Resigned by Thursday I reckon.... 😀
  22. Since 2014/15 (when Stuart Henderson took over) they have won four league titles, finished runners up and third once, achieved three promotions and were top when one of the two COVID seasons was cancelled in March. Over shadowed by near neighbours Plymouth Parkway's rapid ascent, but also a remarkable run.
  23. Took Tavi 3 years. They could argue that, but for the 2 COVID seasons, they would have gone up before then. They were top before the cancellation of the 2019/20 season.
  24. I would say so. Watching their documentary series, it's clearly a very ambitious club that is looking beyond the Western League. Will be a tough league to get promoted from, plenty of clubs will want to get out of this league and avoid the Peninsula/ Western league merger. Jake Ash comes across as a very impressive figure as well, the club will need to keep progressing to keep hold of him.
