Haven’t been on the forum for a while - rather than Bodmin issues would be nice to hear some positives about Camelford. Reg has lost players to Southern and Western league - plays with a’small budget’ but still finds players who compete for him - it’s not always about the money - some players play for the club - Up The Camels.

Shaun - fairly certain you have the right person. Credit where it’s due - you guys have turned the corners- without disrespect to former managers  - right people get the right results.

John - if I’ve said something to upset you or your team, it was unintended. My point was that imo East / West are no different both have teams that can compete against each other - and you can’t judge it on one game - as some comments have suggested. I won’t respond on you other points, we are all to our own views - feel free to have a chat when hopefully our two teams play lol

Guys - it’s all opinions, all the players mentioned are very very good. It’s easy to be a great striker in a team who give you opportunities or a great goalie behind a great defence etc etc. It’s also great to see supporters appreciating their teams players  - we all do. The cream always rises to the surface - so leave it to the players to perform and entertain us and see where they end up when the have finished - all those mentioned will, if they push themselves have great stories to tell - just ask Rappo

Good spuddling - but a big difference in a cup game. All non Falmouth fans knew there would be a day when Falmouth didn’t perform and their opponents did - Falmouth still a great team and imo put the top 5 in West against  against top five East and the West is stronger - shame the restructure of league a few year ago didn’t allow that to be tested.

    Camelford 0-2 Callington
First half saw Callington win every 50/50 tackle and they were the team who wanted it far more - I would say Camelford played poorly but I must give credit to Callington - they have definitely turned a corner - well organised / coached and a team that work hard for each other. Callington scored direct from a corner - how that happens? Camelford had one chance to level from a header but cleared at a scramble. 0-1 HT
Second half saw Camelford totally dominate possession but created no real chances - and when pushing everyone forward for the equaliser where caught with a last second break to concede a quality finish and loose 0-2. Neither goalie actually had anything to do all game and I can’t have any complaints with Callington taking the points - in total Camelford created two chance and Callington created one and a soft goal. There are a few Camels played who hid against a team who wanted it more.
Callington have massively improved - nice to actually say their coaching staff were great today and they have built a good hard working team with some quality players - good luck to them.
Camels seem to have lost the mojo over the last couple of months and will need to pick it up against Liskeard next week.

Great to see some representative football being played again, it’s been a while. Well done both FA’s and management teams.

Fair comment Bobjfh but if Westy took things easy on any team in our league a defeat could happen, thats how he will see it so im sure he will treat every game as a difficult one and make sure the team are really up for it. As far as the F-Troop are concerned all i can say is we are absolutely loving this season. Next season, wherever we are, we will love that also. We hope its the Western League of course but until we have the points in the bag we wont take it for granted.

Jeff - whilst every team will play Falmouth as a ‘cup final’ to get the honour of beating them - looking at the remaining fixtures - and meaning no disrespect to other team - having watched them all play only Liskeard, St Blazey, Dobwalls and perhaps a strong Bodmin have a chance of taking any points off Falmouth and in reality you only need to drop 6 less points that Liskeard (who have a lot of hard games left) to be certain of promotion. I am assuming the F Troop have already looked a travel options next season lol.
Will be a loss for the rest of us who enjoy the F Troop - and a ‘surprise’ for a lot of Western League teams.

All this talk of travelling to Bristol midweek is overstated as the Toolstation League would not fixture that.
This current season there are 5 Bristol clubs 5 Somerset and 8 from Devon/Cornwall (just like the old SWPL) .
IF- Falmouh were to be promoted its likely to replace Bridport(Dorset) and there is a strong possibility either Bideford or Barnstaple would relegate from the Southern League.
Also a SWPL East side to promote which maybe Torpoint (replacing likely Ashton from Bristol  so I see the Western League far more practicable than in the 70's.80's when Falmouth were last there.
The trend over future seasons is growing into a Devon/Cornwall step 5 League encouraged by the F A restructure.

First of all we've not won promotion yet.  We have to take this one game at a time, if or when the points gap means we can't be caught, that's the time to celebrate.  It was put to me on Boxing day that every game is now like a cup final, all the teams are playing for bragging rights.  I know it's been said about how many points would need to be dropped, etc, etc. but it's the points in the bag that count.  As to the players not wanting travel, when I watch the the team play, I see a team hungry for success and prepared to dig in and carve out a win when things aren't going our way.  I think the players have a desire to play at the highest level possible and all credit to them for their efforts.

Just want to make it clear from Wendron’s point of view, nothing against Bodmin and what they did on Monday. It’s perfectly ‘legal’ and within any rule book relating to the cup. As I said before, despite the scoreline, I felt it was an evenly balanced game regardless of any name on either team sheet. We more than had our chances with hitting the woodwork 5 times and some other golden chances missed. Bodmin or the neutral may disagree though. The result was as much a product of us as it was to any individual playing for them.

All the best to Bodmin for the rest of the season, other than our league matches of course.

Guys - it would of been a great festive match, but the league will have made the decision to accept the postponement and are probably one of the few with the actual facts - Phil Hiscocks tweet (I know not the same league but same rules) - is very telling. Two great local teams and I hope both continue to fly the Cornish flag and their players / staff / volunteers and supporters stay safe. The game will hopefully still take place - leave the talking to the football pitch and have a great Xmas.

There is also an opposite - I know from Camelford’s experiences (who can’t afford large sums for higher league players) - Reg, when short through injuries, looks for players from lower leagues, gives them a chance to shine and has found some real quality young players as a consequence, so dual registration can work - but I also agree playing some teams is a nightmare as you just don’t know what you are going to face.
