Bobjfh got a reaction from Tommy Matthews in Post now not showing re Falmouth v St Blazey match
I wasn’t going to comment on this thread as it is best left for the League and CCFA to deal with the issue - but I am surprised how this has swung around.

There are lessons to be learned for those clubs that attract big crowds and perhaps the likes of Falmouth may need to look at match day stewards, if for no other reason than to protect themselves should incidents like this happen, a shame that they are needed but who knew this would happen in the SWPL.
However, below is a tweet put on St Blazey’s official site PRIOR to the game:
“It’s a big one! We travel in numbers to @Falmouth_Town on Saturday in the @swpleague Plenty making the trip for this one to try and compete with the F Troop”
St Blazey only usually travel with a modest number of supporters. Someone at the club (from previous eateries, the manager), knew that a large group of men were going to attend the game to ‘challenge’ the F Troop in ‘their support’.  What did they expect was going to happen with a large group of (Argyle) adult men supporters, who would obviously have a few beers before the game? These individuals were clearly drafted in to compete with the F Troop and we have seen the result - and unfortunately one can only guess at the conversations in the pub in Plymouth to gee this group up to travel down from Plymouth. Someone in the St Blazey club should be held accountable for that, if not by the CCFA then by the club.
On a more positive note, I personally don’t think that the F Troop or Falmouth team have been tarnished by this incident - and they can be assured of a warm welcome at Camelford tomorrow (or I’m sure any other clubs), who love having true local football supporters at their games.

Bobjfh got a reaction from RAPPO in Refusing promotion
Onlooker - no disrespect to St Austell - purely they are 5 points behind Helston having played two more and 6 points ahead of Saltash having played 5 more games (two of their remaining are against Helston, I believe, and they have been comfortably beaten twice by Saltash). They have 5 points over Mousehole having played 2 more and only have one game left against Helston and Saltash. Nothing is over till the end of the season - imo just don’t see St Austell being top two and in a battle for third / fourth / fifth - just an opinion.
Leeds - my earlier comment was just rumour (even from a good source), let’s just see what happens come May
i agree with Rappo and others, would love to see every possible Cornish team take promotion to Step 5

Thank you for your comments Bob. Likewise it would've been nice to say hello. To be honest I'm a bit cautious these days about going up to somebody and saying "Hello are you Bald Brian off the Footballers In Wigs Site" only to be chased back to the car park. I'm pretty much pants when it comes to putting possible names to faces. My apology.
Yes there were plenty of cards early doors from the referee, perhaps it may have been a justifiable attempt to establish a code of conduct due to the high intensity of the opening stages of the contest. Whilst it was an entertaining game it couldn't have been easy to referee.
As for dug out shouting, yes Liskeard probably did it as well but the only bloke audible in every part of the ground was the chap in the home hut. This extended to getting in the lady referees ear during the way back to the half time changing rooms. I got the impression the accompanying linesman thought it was out of order even in the harsh reality of non league. I still feel the referee did a reasonably good job out there.
Hopefully we may (somehow) bump into each other at a local game soon. Although we seem to differ on a couple of things I respect your views.
    All the best.

    Camelford 0-2 Liskeard
Good game of football on a very very soggy pitch. Both sides played some very entertaining football, Liskeard a much improved team from when Camels beat them at theirs earlier in the season. The story of the game was more about which team took the chances, or more specifically the chances the officials gave them - Liskeard did so, so no complaints about the result. The first half saw Camels dominate early on, but when Boxy beat his player about 30 yards out, for a moment it looked like Camels may take an early lead before being copped down(yellow and too far out for anything else) - the referee then started to produce one yellow after another (mainly but not exclusively to Liskeard). The game management was poor as a red looked a certainly in a game with few bad tackles. Liskeard took the lead from a clear foul (not given) but great finish by James (hope he is okay after coming off in the second half). 1-0 HT
Second half saw Liskeard protect their lead - Camels having more possession - but in fairness not creating too much - oh for a striker! The one difference being that the ref had obviously had a word with herself and decided the game didn’t warrant a red so booked nobody - for some far worse challenged than in the first half (if I were honest I would say I think she forgot who had been given cards so didn’t want to make it worse)
Then three decisions sealed the game. A Camels goal disallowed for offside (the ball was passed backwards?), a stone wall penalty not given for Camelford (sign of the times but the striker was pulled back by the arm so hard his head shook, but he stayed on his feet - apparently you have to throw yourself to the ground) and finally a (converted) penalty to Liskeard given to a player who was so far offside as to make the decision amusing (literally 5 yards plus) made all the worse as the official was an ex Liskeard goalkeeping legend.

I know I will be berated for criticising officials and that was not my intention - but the bottom line is the final result was all about them. You get good days and bad - and I was impressed with Liskeard but the final outcome was down to who got / took the breaks and Liskeard did - and well done to them
Good luck for season, Liskeard, a good good team.

Uwdi - wish I’d known you were there as would have said hello - love your reports. I never ‘ref bash’ but would be interested in your view as to why so many yellows were issued in the first half but similar challenges in the second were not - I know it will be said ‘game management’ but that implies control has been gained - which for me it hadn’t - or the three decisions I referred to above. You are right about the Camels keeper on the ‘offside’ penalty - clear foul, should have been a yellow (no red as double jeopardy) - but nothing issued at all??
As I said no complaints about Liskeard winning and good luck to them - perhaps some of the comments from the dugs out (you didn’t mention the continuous questioning from the other dug out) - May have been a slight feeling of imbalanced officiating outcome on the day- who knows?

Ashton - i have two sons who are at uni, a lot of time playing out of the county, a bit like yourself I believe and if right I think they played together for a fair bit at college and for the County and are good mates - I know you have previously commented on Jack W a fair bit. That however is not my rational (or probably the views of my sons, who incidentally I don’t mention by name in my posts) - I do believe that Cornish football is stagnating now and youth talent is the way forward, contrary to many on here. There are young players who have played representative football at a national level, played in international tournaments abroad, played at professional academies, are first team picks at SWPL and higher levels. Who would you prefer to represent the County - the ‘same old names’ or something a bit different and something with a future?

Its always going to be hard keeping a youth team together into adult football these days because many go onto higher education or travel the world or just seek employment elsewhere - time and time again you see and hear youth coaches lamenting the fact that they wish they could keep there team which is sometimes where the bitterness comes from when they go elsewhere. Having a team locally grown that could compete at a much higher level would be fantastic in an ideal world but as you have said - a pipe dream. Would certainly make financial sense to have more local players but they firstly have got to be good enough. Only time will tell I guess.

Paul - whatever the reason for Levi signing for you, it has to be credit to the club -and an outstanding signing!! One thing that must concern you though is the discipline record - that’s now 8 reds, 40+ yellow cards and at least 6 sin bins - if St Blazey could keep 11 on the pitch, think where they would be in the league now??

Great to finally meet you and Smokie - best behaved spectator at any ground!!
Actually came away from today feeling a bit deflated - yes Camelford played some nice football and but for some great saves, last second bobbles on a damaged pitch and wayward finishing - it could and probably should have been 15+. 3 points are great but took no pleasure is seeing the G’s so outclassed. I thought Ethan was fantastic and your captain had a really solid game but they can’t do it all and a couple of G players could easily have seen an ‘early bath’. Really hope the G’s turn it around and soon - Tania and the G stalwarts deserve more.
Ed will be happy you made him mom - but he gave up trying to score when he managed to hit the crossbar in an open goal from 6 yards!! None of the Camels players took joy out of winning, other than the points.
Good luck G’s and looking forward to game v Liskeard next week.

Having been back in the dugout today to help out the G, I'd just like to say that the players gave everything today. Yes we lost again, yes we conceded 8 again, but this isn't a quick fix. Alot of the players are playing well above their level but keep trying regardless and turn out put a G shirt on and help as we try to sort everything out.
We went in just 2-0 down at half time but better quality and fitness will always show and it did in the second half for Camelford, the lads tried and kept going. I was proud of the effort and attitude displayed by the players and it is only with the commitment that the G will get back to its best.
Finally well played Camelford a really good footballing side, great to see Bobby there after his injury and always nice to see a former player in Luke Howarth who had a really good game at right back. Good luck for the rest of the season Camelford.

Leeds - as you rightly say, no one can question Mr Massey passion or knowledge, but as you have also often said about Gilby at Bodmin - Silverware counts and for the ‘alleged’ money being spent - it has not been the all conquering season that many (including myself) predicted - the league should be theirs but Saltash have strikers who on a firmer pitch than last night could cause Helston real problems in the two games they have to play. For me it’s a two horse race - which is by no means over yet - good luck to them both.

Personal view - but if KFA want to build something they should be looking at young players in the County - not pros and not the ‘same old faces’ on a lads outing. Take an u21 squad (with a couple of older players) with players who will build the reputation of the County and the KFA - it would increase long term support and I’m sure greater interest - however I feel it will just be the managers favourites and social mates.

Can see there have been Nearly 500 views but only two comments - and one from Rappo who is always polite👍

I watched this and held back on putting any comments on here. I am (was) a Steve Massey fan - he HAS been there and done it and has the money to make his footballing dreams a reality.
    BUT
To slag off other coaches and players, for me is a big step too far. He has bought what he considers a good team and they are and will win the league. But player for player (imo) there are only 2/3 who would make a SWPL ‘dream team’, if local clubs could afford them- they are just a squad without weaker players - which most others have.

I do fear that Helston are making no friends (outside of the club), and when they progress, which they will, they will have a very limited fan base - a bit like Truro.

Before it’s said - I am not a Helston hater or jealous, just personal views and a supporter of local football.

I thought this cup was on an ‘invitation’  basis? If Step 6 teams don’t want to play in it, for whatever reason, they can decline - so if they don’t field a side - don’t invite them next year - perhaps Torpoint and Millbrook would be first choices and then Step 7??
