Well done Sticker ! not the 8-9-10- nil hammering forecast by some and the Saints only 1-0 up at half time and that goal from a penalty.
We will always give the village side 10 out of 10 for turning out a team every game,  wherever it is and whatever the weather and despite their league position, showing a commitment to their club, the opposition, and the game of football that some others would do well to follow.
Three lads in the Saints squad last night Rogers, Dingle, and Hooper are ex Sticker boys and doing well

Throughout this forum (and in every club around the country) players who play whilst not registered or under a false name are highlighted as ‘illegal’ and players who are parachuted in from higher ranked teams to win certain games are highlighted as ‘ringers’. The clubs, fans and players themselves know this and there is certainly no serious harm to a players reputation as a consequence - most players consider it a matter of pride to be held in such esteem. As many are paid, there is also no suggestion of them suffering financial loss as a consequence - so there is no defamation, at very worst a poor use of certain definitions of a word
A little knowledge of a topic is not always a good thing.
I have intentionally cut back on match reports and comments as I am fed up of the antic of some (it used to be the likes of Big Al’s continual goes at Falmouth or the FA) who totally distract from discussions about local football - and now new additions, who whilst obviously having a right to voice their opinions, do little, for me, to further my enjoyment of local football.
Its a shame as match reports and rivalries about football have noticeably dropped and pointless garbage increased (IMO).

RVP and WOTP - which such an important run of fixtures coming up (you can’t win the league pre Christmas but you can lose it) - what are your thoughts on your ‘senior’ players playing mid week games in the SWPL - I know WOTP, you did post about the home teams managers input on such games but if you lost a couple of players through injury in such games it would / could really impact on your final position?

Interesting reading , At Exmouth Town our gates are effected with Clashes with City.
We average around 170  so far in the league( Only played 2 games at home )
We have been steadily been building the home attendances and had over 300/400 in  some Cup games.
In the western League there are so many teams based around Bristol the crowds are not great, but we have also been taking around 30/50 to away games.
To be honest you get what you get, but you need to be proactive with marketing games through Social Media and local press.
Obviously results help. We have been getting between 50/90 coming to reserve team games in the DFL (Step 7)
Town are fortune that we have a local paper and radio station that actively back the club. UTT

    Wellington 0 Exmouth Town 2
A Sunday game as a part of the groundhopper day. Town were slow off the mark with Wellington looking better than there League position would suggest .
A fantastic ball from Denny put Jordan Harris through with a defender and the keeper to beat ,which he duly did in the 20th min.
Late in the half another great ball from Ace High and a  neat finish from Denny gave town a two goal lead at HT.
The second half was very similar to the first with Town having most of the play until  Wellington were reduced to 10 men on about 60 min.
This actually spurred Wellington on and it was a much closer game.
Town hit the post and bar and Chris Wright made a couple of decent saves.
A Decent 315 crowd for a Sunday (inc approx 60 Town)
Next up Portland at home in the Vase UTT

Bobjfh got a reaction from Soccer Follower in Referee Shortage Directive - I suggest all read
The response from the CCFA is understandable due to the lack of numbers - however it potentially affects all clubs when a minority of teams are at fault - specifically for the abuse hurled at appointed officials.
Why can’t the CCFA ask their refs who they are not willing to referee - I knows refs put in match reports but I doubt they specifically state they do not want to officiate certain teams any further. Tell those clubs they cannot have appointed officials or have the games watched by CCFA Board members and prioritise those clubs who have well behaved teams - right through to SWPL (I know that can’t happen but should - just listen to the sound on the Saltash v Bodmin game). It may curb behaviour as teams will be docked points for not playing?

Unfortunately this sadly says a lot about Liskeard players and the club. They are on a run of 6 defeats most recently a heavy loss to Falmouth and yet with a first team at Step 6, a Reserve team at Step 7 and a well known manager they cannot raise  or bring in 11 players?? They simply did not want to travel and lose. By forfeiting a £50 fine, they hope to give themselves and advantage against Penzance (who play in the CCC tomorrow) when they meet on Saturday
They have deprived another team playing in the Cup; deprived Falmouth of much needed revenue and deprived theirs and Falmouth fans of mid week football.
I have watched other clubs struggle for players at times during the season and going to games expecting a loss, fielding ‘retired’ and junior team players, but never contemplating failing to fulfil a fixture.
    Shame on you.

A good contest at Trefrew Stadium, Cally youngsters giving the Camels a stern workout. After Bobby Hopkinson gave The Camels a 12th minute lead with yet another 25 yard free kick his fifth long range finish this season, Camels were reduced to 10 men when Jenko was dismissed for a last man tackle , but playing with the strong wind Camels scored 2 more 1st half goals through Kian Burns and Leighton Carhart. Second half Cally scored early and it was game on but it didn't materialise  do to a combination of Cally not dealing with the wind and the superb performance of Matt Andrew in the Camels midfield what a player he is. Finished 3 1 just about the right result. Callington will do  fine  if they play like this all season, but maybe could do with an old head at.the back.

Was also at Callington for their spirited encounter with Bodmin. Think Teflon summed it up pretty well.
Perhaps I have a weakness when I begin analysing games I go along to at SWPL level. Don't get me wrong it's a great little league but the competition and club rivalry occasionally clouds the reality of what we're watching. We get sucked into debating who the top clubs are, who's busting the bank and what we should expect in return. This generates expectations of football quality way beyond the actual capabilities of the league. My apology, I know I've fallen into this trap and I shall endeavour to be a bit more realistic. It's the local league realism of Callington v Bodmin not PSG v Real Madrid on subscription TV. Onto the game......
Effort and commitment wise Callington were outstanding last night. It would have been hard to suffer defeat following such a huge effort to match their visitors.
Bodmin were far more 'up for it' than last Saturday when Buckland rolled them over. They badly wanted the win here. It was full on stuff and neither side were taking prisoners.
Clear cut chances were in short supply, even when Mr Gilbert released The Tornado & Hit Man Hobbs late in the game. Callington rode the tide.
It was fast, frenetic and furious. We even ran out of match balls late first half. Fancy Dan football had a night off but in a strange way it didn't really matter, the sheer enthusiasm and passion to win (and not suffer defeat) gave the proceedings an addictive spice that kept you hooked for the full 90 minutes. Didn't see anyone sneaking back to the car park early doors.
Callington almost snatched it in the dying moments of second half injury time as Bodmin scrambled away a goal line clearance.
Think the home side welcomed the draw all in all, got the feeling Bodmin expected a lot more, at least they looked a lot better side than Saturday.
Not a big crowd (I counted 75) but in my opinion definite value for money.

Have to be honest, I am surprised that the CCFA did not look at the format for the Senior Cup with the new SWP Prem West and St Piran League restructure.
Teams from the Combo / ECPL ‘have’ to pay and enter the competition yet have no realistic chance of having a decent run / getting large crowds - but would fair far better in the Junior Cup - which is what most of them were in last season.
The county has two senior (FA Tier) leagues who imo should be in the ‘Senior’ Cup and the Combo / ECPL / Trelawny and Duchy leagues, who are all ‘recreational teams’ should be in the ‘Junior’ Cup.

That’s a bit of a contradiction ? Can’t be underachievers if we’re poor surely?! We wouldn’t achieve anything right ? 🤷🏼‍♂️ Cally were better then us last night hands down. But the boys turn up and play the game they enjoy and we have a beer and a laugh after without any packets involved, we will continue to do so. We will get some results along the way this season, maybe upset a few because on our day we are capable. We knew this league was going to be a hard step up but will enjoy it And drink plenty of 🍺🍺 whenever we go on the way ☺️

Thankyou, the process has only just started and in all honesty it’s an exciting time yes we need to add depth like most teams! Good players are always going to be approached by the bigger clubs that’s football at every level I’m afraid!
I fully trust the players that are there and we will be looking to add to that group ASAP

Sid - sick with it, change will take time and i’m sure those at the club understand - as do all those from ‘smaller’ clubs without big bank rolls. You have some good players there - still.

    Camelford 1 Saltash United 2
    Camels scorer: Ollie Gibson (pen)
Saltash scorers: David Barker (pen) and Sam Hughes
    Attendance: 68

A game of two sin bins and three penalties!
Saltash took the lead from the spot 20 minutes into proceedings (Barker). Saltash doubled their lead ten minutes later, Hughes with a fine finish into the bottom corner from just inside the area. Camels keeper Gwillam made a fine save from Hughes and managed to get his finger tips to the ball to touch it onto the bar. This kept Camelford in the game going in to the  half time break.
    HT: 0-2
Camelford started to get back into the game and this was helped by substitutes as Hambly brought on Insley and Andrews. Ten minutes into the half and the Camels had pulled one back from the spot as Boxall was pulled down, Gibson stepped up and scored, 1-2. The rest of the game was end to end as Camelford continued to defend well and keep themselves in the game. The equaliser nearly came after a fine run by Sleep who crossed the ball to Andrews who's shot was deflected just wide!
Five minutes towards the end and the Camels had won themselves another penalty. Up stepped Gibson again, who blazed over the bar. Saltash saw the final minutes of the game out and secured yet another victory in which many of their supporters claimed "their toughest test so far". All in all the Camels deserved a point but it wasn't to be, congrats Saltash.
Finally, hope that the young Saltash keeper is okay, who was substituted late on for an injury, speedy recovery.
    FT: 1-2

Honestly not sure what to make of this.
Not sure if it’s to be applauded in regards to the luxury coach up, overnight stay, morning training session on a 4g pitch, getting Dave Gibbins in to report on matters in what looks a very professional outfit or if it’s just someone with an open cheque book trying to paint an image.
Not sure if this was what I thought Helston were about in the so called 20/20 vision..
Players paid to travel from Exeter, Torbay. New Member of Management Team on more than anyone at the club
Suppose the bottom line is if the club or person running the club can afford it, why not do it??

There are very few clubs at this level who can afford to travel by luxury coach, stay in what looked like a decent hotel and pay for training facilities on match day mornings - when going to Bristol, but Helston can so good luck to them. If Steve Massey wants to do a ‘Class of 92’ for his team, it’s his money and the productions are very professional (Piran films support of the County’s most successful u18 cup exploits a couple of years back was a highlight for me).
