    Buckland 3-0 Camelford
Great away trip to a lovely ground, really friendly club with great facilities (Rappo you would love live the box nets).

Camels started sprightly and were awarded a stonewall penalty after about 10. Having said I had not seen Ed miss a penalty in 14 years before his miss at Lanson the keeper saved it - but had to be retaken and he missed again - so won’t say any more about penalties lol
in fairness Buckland we’re the better team and deserved the win - good footballing team and when they attack they are excellent. Both teams had players sin binned and Camels had to play with 9 for a bit, but no complaints.

Camels needed a full squad and play at the top of their game and had / did neither - but that was down to a good Buckland team.

Good luck to Buckland in the Vase - Camels still on ‘tour’ and enjoying a good away trip.

Totally agree. Must catch up at the Saltash v Camels game in the CSC - if you are going - was a cracker last time the teams played at Kimberly.

The 4-2 game was superb. Camels were outstanding that night. Not sure if its the Kimberly or Sticker v Lanson in CSC as I've not been to the Sticky's ground yet. Will be at a Camels home game at some point this season. Have a good weekend!

That wasn’t what was said in the post by Both Sides of the Tamar- the conditions made it very very hard for all players to stay on their feet and some latitude as to ‘recklessness’ was IMO appropriate. My subsequent post was simply that if latitude was being applied it should be consistent for both teams - I didn’t feel it was,  neither did all the players / managers or for that matter the majority of people watching - from their comments . If that constitutes having a go at the official, so be it.

I criticised Camels misses and praised both teams for passages of play - sorry Older (I usually agree with on all posts), what is tedious is making a fair report about the ‘whole game’ yet one element of it appears to offend people’s sensibilities over Referees - who are a major part of the spectacle.
As an aside - my comments don’t matter - the officials were being assessed (strange that some officials seem IMO to change when assessed, as I have commented on before and I really wish assessment could be done without the officials knowing - I know it can’t) - and the sending off occurred straight after half time - maybe the ‘latitude’ shown in the first half was felt too much?

Of course, no players ever make mistakes during a match.
Serious question coming up, if a player is suspended (3 matches for example) could, if they are a qualified referee, officiate a match when they are serving this? It would be in a different league of course, or at youth/junior level.
Perhaps, in the same way that you can take a driver awareness course as an alternative to having points on your licence, you could take a refereeing course as a way of reducing or deferring a suspension. Could be sold as an "awareness of the laws of the game" session.

Decent crowd - non stop torrential rain.

Wouldn’t disagree with anything you have said and a fair report. Camels should have made the game safe in the first half - first penalty I have seen Ed miss in 14 years and it was a shocker (to be fair the penalty was given for a foul two yards outside the box) and some great saves / blocks by Lanson.

Bobby’s sending off - if it was (as you say taking conditions into account) then three Lanson tackles in the first half should have been as well - especially the one resulting in Ryan leaving the pitch from a behind, thigh high tackle, consistency of decisions lacked.

Camels went up from an Ed shot, parried by the keeper for a Gus tap in. Lanson then dominated possession and did everything right with 11v10 and moved the ball from side to side very well - but didn’t create a lot. Waltz’s goal was a cracker from a tight angle - but I agree, a solo effort, without support. He even tried an audacious overhead kick that was blocked.

Camels still had the better chances, with 10 players and sealed the game with an Ed header on 88 minutes - gutting for Lanson and showed a real dogged side to Camelford - all 10 worked their socks off against a good Lanson team - the wide / forward players running their socks off and the defence solid as a rock.

    I don’t like to criticise officials - so I won’t say anything.

    Camelford 3-1 Dartmouth
Bit apprehensive for this one as Camels missing 4 starting players, but turned out a very entertaining game.

4 goals, 3 Red Cards and some very good football
Camels dominated early on but went 1 down from a break and a quality finish. Dartmouth had three pacy young lads up front who were all good players and threatened all game (without any real chances). Camels equalised through a Gus goal following a quality defence splitting pass by Ed and then went 2-1 from a Bobby free kick on the edge of the box. Camels squandered a few chances and finished 2-1 at HT
Second half saw Dartmouth start well - long balls and pace but never really threatened Buster  First red card was for a high tackle by Dartmouth defender - not ‘nasty’ but above the knee and reckless
Camels scored from another Bobby free kick from 35yds on the touch line - shortly followed by a red card for Gus for two yellows
Camels had control of the game and Ryan was through on goal - chipped keeper who handled outside the area  - straight red.
    Game finished 3-1
It was not a dirty game at all, but all three reds were correct !?!?!?! I actually thought the officials had a good game - got away a little because of frustration from the players - but he had little choice.
Good luck to Dartmouth for the season

Mattelot - the 250 games is good but not great. However what he has achieved in those 250 games is great and to only be applauded. Not only Westy, but all connected with the club - I may not support them but admire what has been and hopefully will be achieved.

Mark - had to wait for your report before commenting. I took the game in as Camels had a free weekend and all went off together to sunny Exeter for a few beers lol.
Thought it would be an end to end game, and to a degree it was - other than Penryn’s missing players made the outcome increasingly clear.

Without wishing to be unfair, several Penryn players did not have the ‘legs’ or fitness to compete with St Austell.

The St Austell left wing could / should have scored 5, and St Austells lack of clinical finishing has / will cause them issues.
I have seen a full strength Penryn, and they are good - but they do lack strength in depth, again something that is costing them.

    Worth the entrance fee though

Enjoyable afternoon at Poltair with two young teams and two of the brightest young managers in Cornish football competing on a t-shirt weather afternoon. Penryn manager Harry Pope went into the game missing top player Bradley Leivers away up Newcastle, pacy striker Ryan Reeve suspended, wide man James Daniel injured scoring the equaliser last week to name a few. Speaking to my old mate Tony Penrose before the game who said Sparky had a couple out as well including his son Josh who’s had tonsillitis for a couple weeks. Cracking player Josh 👍 Thought the visitors did well considering before the hosts took the lead when a good driven ball in from the bottom right saw Billy Williams try to block at the near post but unluckily went in off his studs. The Saints doubled the lead 5 minutes before the break when following a corner centre half Kieran Barrett hooked one in over his shoulder from close range. The game was virtually over on the hour mark when a great piece of skill on the left from George Marris with a little nutmeg before smashing a shot in at the near post. Penryn had a couple of chances for a consolation when Kyle Cooke went clean through over the top but his heavy touch ran out of play and then Jack Rapsey struck a good low shot from the edge of the area well saved down to his left from Brett Allen. The last 20 minutes got a bit stretched and Cam Bidgoods pace down the left caused all sorts of problems and he’ll be wondering how he didn’t score a couple of goals at least, denied a couple of times by Adam Robarthan and then a couple that missed the target, would have fancied his dad Martin for a couple of them chances in my day! Two decent Young teams, very well coached that tried to play football at all times, good to watch. Ref Richard Butler did a good job on the whole, didn’t give any soft fouls, had to be a 100% one before he awarded a free kick, job well done 👍 Penryn did get their consolation goal too late in the day when Rapsey got clipped as he rolled the defender and the composed Nick Boase stepped up to end Penryns penalty jinx sending Allen the wrong way. All in all a very fair result on the day, hardly a bad tackle all game between two teams very easy on the eye 👍👏🏼⚽️

Joe - Camelford has an excellent playing surface and has been commented upon by all that visit - but that is down to a few (very) unpaid volunteers - which is why those that do volunteer and give up their time should be commended, at all clubs. We all agree via different threads that without Refs games can’t be played -but without volunteers there would be no pitch or even a chance to play.

Just to make it perfectly clear - it was not my intention to make any criticism of Shaun (or for the thread to go they way it has) and I felt I made it clear where I felt the blame for a stop start game lay. Both penalties were soft - it happens.  If I didn’t, I apologise to Shaun. When I spoke to him after the game, about the abuse he had received, to his credit he said he was trying to keep 11 players on the pitch (more tolerance than me) and gave what he saw - you cannot ask for any more than that - at any level.
