Falmouth have the ‘fire power’ to blast any team off the park and a really solid defence - I just hope Penryn don’t try an absorb pressure but have a real go at it, like against Camels in second half. Penryn looked so much better when they attack.
Let’s be honest it a ‘freebie’ - if they lose everyone will say expected - if they win ‘what a great result’ - give it a real go. My guess would be Westy may rest / rotate a few players as league games coming up against Camels / Bodmin and Dobwalls - and the League must be their priority.

WotP - I went and watched this one, simply because two young Camels had agreed to provide cover for Tavi - Ed starting and playing 85 being replaced by Charlie for the last 5. Tavi had three subs (1 without the cover), Mousehole named 6 subs - so I don’t think they have been that badly hit?
Game was all about different styles - Tavi stayed compact and let Mousehole play their ‘side to side’ game in their own half, with great 30/40 yard balls but very little actual penetration. Tavi looked dangerous every time they attacked and scored at the start of both halves - Mousehole scored after about 60 minutes, with probably the first thing Goldsworthy did.
Have to think that if Mousehole were more direct they would score more - but Tavi played an excellent tactical game and for that deserves the win IMO.

would love to say another flowing game with Camelford deserving the victory but in fairness Camels looked very tired today - taking nothing away from Penryn, they wanted it far more and won every 50-50 ball.
Camels took a lead in the first half through an own goal and probably just edged the half, even though Penryn had a soft penalty awarded which was missed (very poor penalty).
Second half Camels started well and got a Second through Cam P - lovely finish to be honest. Game looked settled but Penryn  never gave up. They scored with about 15 + stoppage left and really went for it, but never took advantage of some very good chances.
Camels win 1-2 and 3 points but Penryn had about 4 golden opportunities which were not converted. I feel their pain, we have walked off the pitch deserving to win / draw and not got what was deserved - but Penryn are a good side and they will take points off most teams in the league. Well drilled / coached and a team that work hard for each other.
Camels seem to play fantastic / have a poor game / play fantastic etc - so bit of luck we will be on form next week v Falmouth
Good luck to Penryn - they deserved something today and thought the officials had a decent game.

Thought the three officials had a very good game Saturday, including Barry Raiker who was on the other line for the first time.

Just touching on @Bobjfh’s point about sticking together, Wendron are currently sat  joint 2nd (3rd on GD) with last year’s squad and 7 of the 11 who started on Saturday have come through the youth system at the club.

Totally agree Bob! What a team they’d be now at this level! All bout 22 with their best days still to come no doubt! Great bunch of lads as well mate with good attitudes which counted for a lot as well. Ed outstanding yesterday mate 👊🏼👍 Dont seem long ago they were 12 year old kids running around the pitch out Probus! Haha yeah, I always enjoy reading people’s reports on here so just try and do as honest a one as I can if I go to a game mate!? Not everyone can get to as many games as Mass Bob!! 😀 Think it’ll be a great league this season, with quite a few of you fighting for it right up until the end. All the best mate

Wadebridge Town 2. Falmouth Town 7.
Falmouth extended their goal scoring range to 7 goals in this game having posted different scores from 2-0 up to 6-0 so far this season.
In truth it could have been many more but for several point blank saves from the Wadebridge keeper and a few goal-line clearances and last gasp defending from Wadebridge. That being said, many of the Falmouth goals were the result of defensive mistakes or possession being lost in critical areas by Wadebridge.
3 goals from Brabyn, Ward and Barner in the first half were followed by further strikes from Wharton, Ollie Walker and a brace from substitute Tim Nixon in the 2nd half.
Ollie Walker was unplayable at times in this game. His pace and strength created so many chances for Falmouth and Wadebridge struggled to contain him. One run from the touchline on halfway took him past numerous defenders and required another excellent save to deny what would have been a brilliant individual goal. Not sure how good you have to be these days to be noticed by a league club but maybe Falmouth should get him under contract!
On the down side, Falmouth's defence was finally breached after 5 clean sheets following a penalty award in the first half. An excellent mazy run from the big Wadebridge left back drew a challenge in the area and the ref gave the pen to the horror of the F-troop. Wadebridge's 2nd goal came from an under hit back pass from the normally impeccable James Ward and was expertly dispatched by I believe Matt Lloyd.
Falmouth March on but have a big week coming up with a local derby against Penryn in the WCP League cup on Wednesday followed by a top of the table clash at Camelford on Saturday. Should see a decent crowd for the Penryn game where hopefully everyone will choose to watch some exciting live cup football instead of watching England passing it square for 90 minutes on the telly.

    PENRYN   (0)   1        Leivers 84’
    CAMELFORD  (1)  2        OG 14,   Patterson 49’
    ATT:   67
    REF:  Neil Hunnisett  8/10
Already well explained by Bob with his always honest review virtually spot on. The Camels came into this match fresh from their superb 5-0 away win at Newquay in midweek with Penryn having a midweek break after their 1-2 home defeat to Dobwalls last Saturday. Despite that it was definitely the visitors that started on the front foot and a great cross from the left almost saw young Cam Hutchinson head home at the far post but he was denied by Penryn keeper Adam Robarthan at virtually point blank range after 12 minutes. Nevertheless they only had to wait 2 more minute when Andy Boxall drilled a ball across goal but it inadvertently came off the hosts skipper Russell Mays toe as he went to block and the ball squeezed in at the near post despite Robarthans best efforts to keep it out. On 20 minutes Nick Boase sent in a dangerous far post free kick where Bradley Leivers leap saw him challenge visiting keeper Josh Colwill with the loose ball falling to Jake Shaw who was clipped as he shot over the bar. Agree with Bob on this one, good spot from the ref but soft if it’s given against you! Some may say good spot from the ref but the contact was pretty minimal to be fair. Given bout 3/4 times out of 10 I would say! Morgan Vallejo stepped up but for the 2nd week running put his spot kick wide of the target to continue Penryns penalty kick jinx!! Think it’s something like 9 missed out the last 12 taken! 😲 With this Camelford continued in the ascendancy with Ed Harrison pulling more strings than a puppeteer with Charlie Hambley in behind playing the perfect holding role. Great to see these two smashing lads grow into such accomplished footballers at this level, team mates of Jacks when Glynn Hoopers superb county youth side of 2017 went all the way to the national youth cup final beating the likes of footballing hot beds Lancashire and Durham along the way before a narrow 2-1 defeat to Middlesex in the final at Barnets Underhill stadium. A season I’m sure none of them will ever forget!? 👌👏🏼  I know I won’t, I turned down a guest spot on Soccer AM after scoring my 2000th goal to watch the semi final ! Never mind! Tubes was a bit of a ***** anyway!! 🙄🙄 Good play from the impressive attacking right back Denham Guild saw Steve Mcmanaman lookalike Hutchinson snatch his shot wide after 36 minutes. Some fine last ditch tackles from May, Boase and Billy Williams saw any further threat on the home goal adverted for now. Penryn started to pile on the pressure looking for an equaliser just before the break but missed two golden chances like Bob mentioned when a great tackle on Ryan Reeve saw the ball fall to James Daniell 12 yards out but his side foot effort was saved by the foot of Colwill before a Vallejo free kick was headed over by Boase and then the pacy Reeve got on the end of Leivers fine ball over the top but he was also denied by Colwill rushing off his line to block with his legs.

    HT   0-1
How often do you see in football a team get bitten in the bum for not taking their chances, this was the classic case for Penryn when the Camels came out the blocks first and doubled their lead when Harrison threaded a superb pass through the eye of a needle for Cameron Patterson to run on and do what Penryn didn’t with similar opportunities and finish well. Penryn boss Harry Pope didn’t hang around and sacrificed Williams for Fraser Harris and Daniell for Jack Rapsey on 52 minutes. Moments later Reeve rounded Colwill but two covering defenders did well to get back and block the shot. Penryn were prompting with more and more attacks with Camelford always a threat with Bobby Hopkinson now arrived onto the pitch. In the 73rd minute a great cross from Alex Hayhoe saw the ball just elude Leivers outstretched head at the far post. 6 minutes from time good work from deep by Rapsey saw him send Hayhoe rampaging up the right and his low cross saw Reeve tussle with the big visiting defenders and the ball dropping loose for Leivers to drill his close range shot under Colwill. With 5 minutes of added time approaching the hosts could sniff an equaliser against their high flying opponents and only a great last ditch tackle on Reeve denied him going clear again. The 95th minute saw a clever touch by Rapsey on the edge of the area to tee up Vallejo but his goal bound shot had the sting taken off it with a brave block and ended up in Colwills grateful gloves along with the blast from the refs final whistle and another valuable 3 points to 2nd placed Camelford. Reg in his 31st year of management at Camelford will know his team can play better but still took all 3 points. Sign of a good team that! Popey will take several positives from the game seeing his team take the game to the visitors last 25 minutes who will be up around the top come May. Fair to say Penryn have adapted and fitted in well to SWPL football and could and should be on several more points than they are to date. Penryn make the half a mile trip up the road on Wednesday to take on the all conquering Falmouth Town in a local derby league cup tie.Town are rampant this season clear at the top after their 7-2 win at Wadebridge. Good luck to the Camels for the season. Good club with nice people and deserving all they get at the moment 👏🏼
*** An interesting footnote for anyone...have you seen the movie🍿 The Keeper? It’s about Burt Trautmann the former German prisoner of war who broke his neck and played on!!! In the 1956 FA cup final for Manchester City against Birmingham City. Well they made a film about it and it’s on bbc 2 Sunday night at 10pm, well worth a watch, great movie!! Burts team mate in that final was full back Bill Leivers who I met several years ago at work when he was a patient. Had a great half hour footie chat with him on my break, what a lovely chap he was too. You’ve probably guessed the link by now!? Penryns goalscorer today was no other than Bills grandson Bradley Leivers!! Small football world eh!! 🤗⚽️👍

Cracking game at Kimberley- and a welcome win. As Dane pointed out on Radio Cornwall, we didn’t deserve to be loosing at half time. But a missed penalty by Barks and you start to think here we go again. But unlike Ilfracombe and Bridgwater we were playing excellent football.
Took an inspiration sub when Jarrod Woods came on for Alex Cairo and then Dan Perryman for Reece Thomson and in the last 15 it was all Ashes. Cast iron penalty and Buckland down to 10. Menhenick scores and then in dying seconds Sam Hughes got a 2nd in his 400th game for Ashes.
Cue much celebration from Ashes fans after a hard BH weekend. We deserved that win today!

Dave - FF9 and I will disagree (polar) about what happened, i only reacted to it as for an independent watcher FF9 appeared to be looking through Liskeard tainted glasses I would appear to have been a lot closer - but isn’t that the fun of spectating - Man City will now say how rubbish Ronaldo is when a week earlier they were going to break the bank to buy him lol
I would take this from the game though (other than what has been said) - both teams play good football and will pose every team in the league a serious question. My money would be on Falmouth but they will be pushed by both teams (and others).

So as there was no promising attack, it didn’t go in the goal and it stayed with the same team - the games carries on. Makes sense, shame none of the players knew the law / rules. As I said earlier, I thought the ref had a good game - just a couple of big moments overshadowed it - if player where perfect for 90 out of 95 minutes all our teams would win everything.

    Camelford 3-3 Liskeard
Lot of incidents in the game!
Liskeard went 0-1 up within a minute, some terrible defending (a reoccurring theme) on the right allowed James to collect a speculative ball and slide it across goal for a tap in. Camels recovered and gained a penalty put away by Ed - it was a bit soft, but he was through on goal and was tugged - sorry Football Follower9 but your account is not that accurate and missing a few facts - IMO. Then shortly afterwards Camelford hit the cross bar with a free kick - great save by Luke tipping it onto the bar. From the corner a Liskeard player jumped for the ball, missed it and the knocked it off the head of a Camels player with his hand , which was above his head - you will not see a more blatant penalty but not given (don’t suppose FF9 saw that). Within minutes ball is with the Camels defence, under no pressure who then pass it to the Liskeard striker on the penalty spot - 2-1 Liskeard.  Liskeard scored again - a proper goal well set up by James and a lovely finish and Liskeard came close to a forth just before the break. HT 1-3 and Liskeard deserved it but greatly helped by Camels suicidal defending.
Second half, both teams started well but Camels scored early on from an excellent free kick by Tom C, 2-3. Then the next talking point (at this point it was all Camelford) - ball played through for Camels winger - Luke the Liskeard keeper came out and clattered the winger - but collects the ball in his hands right on the edge of the penalty box. Ref blows for a foul on the Camels player - now as the keeper had the ball in his hands, it is either a penalty (inside the box) or straight red for Luke for handling it outside the box - but given as a free kick just outside of the box - riddle me that?
Now the issued raised by FF9 about sportsmanship - there was a 50-50 tackle on the edge of the Liskeard box, the ball bounces forward and another 50-50 takes place and from that Max blasts the ball off the pitch - at that time the ‘injured player’ was not on the floor - I was inline with it and have no doubt that the Liskeard player blasted the ball at the referee, but missed. It took 2-3 minutes before the throw in was taken (no suggestion that Liskeard were not set) and the Camelford player asked the Ref if he should throw it back - I was 5 feet away, the Ref said no it was a Camels throw in. Which he did and a Liskeard player, presumably feeling aggrieved committed another foul on the edge of the box, taken by Tom C and scored by Charlie off a deflection 3-3
Liskeard were not happy but I take exception to saying it was unsporting as the ball was not played out to help an injured player despite what the Liskeard players were screaming and the Camels player asked and did what the Ref said.
Finished after 6 minutes of extra time. The result was fair - Liskeard won the first half and Camelford the second.

I never take exception to write ups as it’s all opinions - but FF9, did you seriously miss the continual arguing at decisions, the number of yellows issued to one team?
I actually thought the Ref had a good game - but he made some real howlers
The arguing afterwards was not pleasant to watch or hear but it was given by a couple of players from both teams on the pitch and when walking off.

Very gracious of you, mate. The lad who scored the hat trick Cam P, (Dave you mentioned not knowing him on your podcast) is a Polperro player - which shows there is plenty of quality in ‘lower’ leagues, just needing a chance to show. Both Camelford’s wingers are 16, both wingbacks are 17/19 and the central two midfielders are 22 (although Ed and Charlie have played together for the best part of 10 years at Torquay, County and Camelford) - which is why I keep banging on about developing teams / players rather than buying in.
Praise from you about a player is praise indeed though.

    Camelford 5-1 Launceston
Thought this might be a close game, Launceston having had a reasonable start, with wins at Penryn and Bodmin and a close game with Liskeard (won’t mention the Falmouth game as a lot of teams will suffer against them this season) and Camelford having had a poor game against Wadebridge and missing three starting players - but it wasn’t.

Camelford controlled play in the first half, wasted some chances but scored through a Cam P ‘tap in’ from a Tom shot hitting the crossbar and dropping straight down. Two goals from Ryan made it 3-0 by the break.

Second half Launceston brought on a good young winger, who changed things on their left and following him being pointlessly brought down in the box, Waltz converted the penalty and Launceston looked set for a possible come back but a further two goals from Cam P settled the game 5-1. it should have been more but will take the win and points.

Reg sets a real example - short on a full squad (every game so far have been missing 2/3 normal starters)so brings in young lads from lower leagues who really shine, get their opportunity and take it - rather than laboured big name players who cost a fortune and contribute little.

Thought the ref had a good game, as did one of his officials - but the other - omg.
He must be 80, have seen him wearing a hat before - was never even close to play and when he did flag was overruled by the ref as he was consistently wrong - let alone his random frantic waving of the flag - entertaining to watch and at least both teams had the pleasure of his decisions. Know we are short on officials but this chap should not be allowed - if nothing else for his health.

Hard game coming up v Liskeard this weekend, who will be fresh after their half game last night.

Good luck to Launceston - they and Camelford have many close links with players and they deserve to do well.
Waltz will probably do an update, that it was much closer, but for a very good player he had virtually nothing to work with.

To be fair absolutely spot on assessment bobjfh. Camelford very organised we gifted the first 2 goals tho from break downs in midfield and then a long ball .. long way back from there .we needed half time to come !!!  The boys dug in and we changed shape and come out second half gave it a reaL go . As we went 3-1 we had another half chance could of made it 3-2 but as we was pushing on .. they hit us with 2 on the break . Lovely finishing sitting the keeper down and chipping him .. Camelford very organised and clinical when needed ..got a young lad only 16 I heard , looks a real talent .. and Harrison was pulling the strings in midfield they will be up and around the top echelons come may  … we gotta bounce back Saturday after 2 poor results ..
