WofTP - having watched a lot of Step 5&6 football, I could names 10/12 players who could and probably should be playing Step 4 from the SWPL. Not more than that because some could but are on the decline (in the nice set possible way). Step 4 raises different issues though - defenders are more physical / positionally aware and good strikers are like ‘rocking horse poo’ and managers at that level tend to stick to proven strikers rather than developing them.
if Lee actually wanted to look locally he would see players, but I have never seen him at a game in Cornwall, since Parkway moved to Step 5 . It would appear he wants to stick to Devon players or ones where he has the ‘pull’ to attract them . I have seen Stuart Henderson and Steve Massey from Tavi and Helston at numerous Cornish games- Stuart has signed/ made approaches to several, Steve has his own views, which frankly are about rapid growth rather than building and whilst I know it is Step 5 both managers are looking to strengthen.
The problem for Cornish players is finding a showcase where higher league managers actually watch - it’s easy ‘up country’ . This is why I find it so disappointing that bigger clubs within the County keep buying in the same players, who either never had ambition or were not up to Step 4 and above football.

    Camelford 2-3 Wadebridge
Absolutely gutted - not by the result, (Camelford had more chances, but Wadebridge had far better chances) but by the lack lustre performance of the Camels for the first hour. Giving the ball away in stupid positions and a couple of players just weren’t at the races today - but giving Credit to Wadebridge they pressed hard and wanted it more.

First half was fairly even - separated by a great goal on 41 by Kyle, lovely little back flick.

Second half saw early chances at both ends with Lloydie missing a sitter - but made up for with a good tap in from some great play on the right and lovely cross.
Thought game was over - but suddenly Camels started to play their normal football. Ed scored a cracker to make it 2-1 about 3 minutes later and then it was all Camels.

Wadebridge had a player sent off - it looked a straight red but ref waved the game on and after the ball went out of play, spoke to his assistant and gave the red?
Camels scored through Boxy to make it 2-2 and there only looked one winner with Camels creating one attack after another and had several free kicks on the edge of the box. Wadebridge were trying to run the clock down - but one throw in, a flick by Lloydie and a cracking shot by Jacob on 93 minutes and game over 3-2.

Can’t argue the result, but wouldn’t have argued a draw or Camels win either.
Individual errors decided the game and wingbacks can’t run up the pitch, loose the ball and not track back.

Wadebridge are a good solid team with a great strike partnership of three and will win many games and good luck to them, well coached and work for each other.

Minor setback for Camels - but 6 points after Dobwalls / Bodmin and Wadebridge is not a bad start from three hard games. On to Lanson next.

Greygen - you were at the match, so I totally respect your opinion. I would just add a couple of points - Stuart Kane is usually an outstanding Ref and I have seen him take loads of abuse (and more) at matches and not known him to over react.

Second thing is this Callington team is virtually last years St Blazey team, lest we forget their antics on and off the pitch and discipline record for abuse and reckless tackles. I know they should be judged on actual events but sometimes players don’t help themselves.

Very fair comments, I’ve traveled from bude for watch this game today. In fact I’ve traveled to this game to watch and support Falmouth after being impressed with watching them against Lanson last year!
So I was watching as a close to a neutral as possible, just think Mr Kane was incredibly rude and aggressive and could have handled it far better, considering he’s a national league official

After the midweek game / performance, I really expected a response from Bodmin. Dobwalls are a very good team, but if they outplayed Bodmin, there is, unfortunately, a real issue there for Bodmin.
By the way, hope Leeds is safe and well - not heard from him in a while?

It’s a long season - but sometimes I think ‘Camelford’ (along with others - (like Wadebridge / Dobwalls / Liskeard  / Callington etc) get ignored as they are not considered as ‘recent top teams’.
You are only as good as your last result, but last part season Camelford were top 3 and like other teams have developed year on year.  I do think there is a ‘change of the old guard’, taking place and hopefully by the end of the season some of the smaller teams will get the ‘respect’ they deserve for hard work, on and off the pitch.

    Camelford 2-0 Dobwalls
Windy day but length of pitch so even across the 90.
Knew what to expect with Dobwalls, they defend and counter at speed with a continuous long ball (midfielders are not a major feature), are combative and seek to win every decision - and that’s what was on display and works for them. Camels try and play the ball through midfield.

Fist half saw Camels play better football and could of scored a few with a bit better ‘final third’ decision making but Dobwalls had a great chance which was well saved. Camels went into the lead through an own goal - real defensive c… .p. 1-0
Second half saw Dobwalls start well but soon reverted to long balls and Camels took control. Camels scored from a great shot by Ryan but took a wicked deflection leaving the keeper no chance. Camels shut the game down and all finished 2-0.

Dobwalls are a good side and will take points off a lot of teams, they miss Calvin as a strike partner to the impressive striker with a ponytail (sorry I don’t know his name). Camels didn’t really get out of 3rd gear but 3 points is 3 points
Well officiated - even If the Dobwalls coaching team don’t agree lol

    Bodmin 1 - 4 Camelford.

Quick match update, Camels missed 3 or 4 gold chances before Ed put them 1-0 through a great header. Camels then had a stone wall penalty turned down followed shortly by an equaliser from Levi, who was well offside.
    1-1 HT
Second half saw Camels continue to dominate and scored through a great Cam goal. Bodmin had a players sent of for abuse to the referee and Cam scored another followed towards the end by a 4th from Boxy.

Bar about 10 minutes Camels dominated play and outclassed a Bodmin team full of ‘big’ names. A one sided game with youth, pace and skill outplaying an established top Cornish team.
Thought the linesmen were ooor but the Ref was solid.

Bar after was Camels supporters and players, Gilby and 4 Bodmin players and therein lies the real difference.

I will put money on The G being ok in the 2nd half they played so well and when they get there 1st team goalie back they will be ok also they need another centre half to play alongside Matt Saunders someone like ex g player ,Ollie Pinnel would be ideal because he hasnt got a hope in hell of getting back into the Newquay side now they have signed Joe Cooper come on OLLIE you know you want to come back to the G and you could help the youngsters out .
