Truro 1 Foxhole 3

Saturday 23rd January 2010

Despite including four reserves in the squad, the signs of the Foxes finally ending their losing streak were good from the outset as Griffin twice went close inside five minutes, while Brooks soon fumbled Pinhammer's centre. However, having withstood this early pressure and prompted by the experienced Martin in midfield, the otherwise youthful Truro outfit came more into the game, albeit without unduly troubling Holland until Dunn took advantage of some poor defending to find the net from an acute angle after 27 minutes. Griffin may have immediately equalised when Peters misjudged a header, but he scuffed his attempt from the edge of the box, before the same player was unfortunate to watch his intelligent lob cleared from the line by Van Evelingen. Foxhole were playing some decent football, and from their best move of the half, Nicholls and Griffin combined to release Ansell, whose fine left-footed drive flew into the top corner from twenty yards seven minutes from the break.

Although Mackellar's last-ditch block denied Williams, and Martin was unable to convert Van Evelingen's low cross from the left, there were generally few scares for the visitors as Truro were again forced on the back foot on the restart. Brooks saved early on from Griffin who then raced on to Nicholls' assist to fire home from eighteen yards on 57, before more hesitancy from the keeper allowed Griffin to coolly seal the points with a quarter of the match remaining. Griffin spoilt his productive afternoon, being needlessly cautioned for kicking the ball away, joining Hazeldine in the book for a first-half foul on Van Evelingen, but Foxhole were able to comfortably see out time to finally raise a smile around Goverseth.

Foxhole (3-5-2): Ryan Holland; Adam Holland, Tony Mackellar, Bobbylee Johns; Ross Pinhammer, Gary Camps (sub. Ryan Wilkins), Jake Couch (sub. Daniel Allen), Scott Ansell, Lee Hazeldine; Liam Nicholls, Richard Griffin.
