Saltash v Falmouth preview

Recommended Posts

Saltash face Falmouth at Kimberley Stadium and under the lights for some of it will make it that bit extra special. This will be the third time in 17 days the sides have met following the Peninsula League meeting on the 21st August and the FA Vase meeting on Saturday.

It has been almost two years since Saltash last beat Falmouth Town, this being a 3-0 home win at the end of September 2008, thus completing the double as they had won 2-0 at Bickland a month earlier. Falmouth then did the double last season, winning 3-0 at Kimberley Stadium in October 09 before winning 1-0 at Bickland Park in February this year. Falmouth made it three wins in a row when they again triumped 1-0 two weeks ago, this time away rather than at home.

The sides were not going to meet again until December 18th at Bickland unless drawn together in one of the cups, which is what happened in the FA Vase.

Saltash travelled to Bickland on Saturday and took a 2-0 half time lead, scoring their first goal against The Ambers for nearly two years before two second half goals set up the replay.

Was the tide starting to turn?

May the best team win

The first match had it all a great start by the away side, all the hard tackling from both sides and the passion of a cup tie....then a goal on plate pass for Liam Eddy who tucked it away nicely, and a superb free kick.... 2 -2 then we even have a Clive Thomas ( old ref from the 70's moment ) ball in air 90 plus minute and the ref blows up when the corner is in the air and Saltash finish with a great header no goal extra time.... neither team diserved to lose, lets hope the next game is as good....Falmouth are the better side and showed that a week or so ago at Kimberley...if Drummond is back for Falmouth they should win, if not....it could go either way....Falmouth have got to sort out that left back spot, both goals were from that area, they looked better second half....

Good luck to both teams....but if Falmouth play through Ludlam and Green Saltash will struggle...
