referee for the cally game was poor and inconsistant. From a Plymstock point of view we felt he was blowing up and book people one minute, and then would do nothing for the same incedent a minute later. two good pens by callington, Plymstock deserved a point from the game at least. Funny how the ref didnt hang around after the game in the clubhouse....guilty consience?

Buckland 1 Bridport 2.

Not the best of games to watch, Buckland had a few chances but could not put the ball into the net.

The second half will be remembered for a incident in the 58 minute when a Bridport player went down on the halfway line,Bridport put the ball out of play, the trainer came on to treat the injured player, the player went off and Buckland took the throw who picked out Liam Moseley who i think was trying to pass the ball back to the keeper, the ball went over his head and into the net, the crowed went quiet and nobody cheered but the ref had to give the goal.

Bridport took the kick off and a Bridport PLayer ran through without a challenge and Baker in the Bucks goal did not try to make a save 1-1 Very strange, but in the best interest of the game the best out come of this strange situation occured.

Buckland had more possession but could not break down the Bridport defence, and the Bridport keeper had a exceptional afternoon and he made numerous saves and it turned out he was awarded by the match sponsor man of the match at the end of the game.

Bridport got the winner in the 83 minute when a corner from the left was met by a bees player who headed the ball into the right hand side of the goal giving the keeper no chance.

Bridport saw out time and celebrated like they had won the cup at the end of the game, and new that they had to put a hard shift in to get their name in the next round draw.

Congratulations to Bridport. Buckland will have to make the most of the chances when the arrive in future games this season.

ATTENDANCE 103 OFFICIALS from Somerset not to bad of performance handled situation of strange goal very well.

Royal Marines 1 Ivybridge Town 1

Not the best of games mainly due to the pitch, not the best of things to play rugby on it 2 days before hand. Both teams had chances, with the Marines having the better ones, hitting the crossbar 3 times.

Ivybridge took a 1 - 0 lead up until the 2 min of injury time, when a shot from the left side of the 18 yd box hit every bumb on the way to hitting the inside of the post and ending up in the net. 2 pts dropped by Ivybridge to be honest.

Attendance about 25.

PORTHLEVEN 1 - NEWQUAY 4

Port well beaten by a very good Newquay side who deserve their place in the next round. Game could of changed if a very incompetent linesman had seen what everyone else in the ground saw, young Newquay keeper Ryan Barnes blatently handle outside the box with the score at 0-1 ! Even Nemissis said he should of been sent off !!! No complaints on the result tho. Good luck to Jim & Lee at Saltash.

Goalscorer for Port, Alan Thomas.

A good crowd at Gala Park today however no profit to the home club as the 3 (poor) officials from Plymouth cost over £200. Where is the logic ????? :SM_carton::SM_carton: :SM_carton:

Guest Uncle Albert

Danny Bance is certainly on his way to Bodmin, Dave - he played for them today against Launceston.

Launceston took the lead after 5 minutes through Dominic Richardson but goals from Huw Morgan and Steve Colwell put Bodmin 2-1 up after 22 minutes. Bodmin then gave away a penalty three minutes later, which John Harrison scored to make it 2-2.

Bodmin had been poor in the first half but they were much better in the second half and added further goals from Danny O'Hagan, Luke Hodge and Chris Luxton.

They are away to Sherborne in the next round on October 2.

Hayle (Troon, Freethy, Pugh, Thomas) 4, Truro City 0

Hayle came out of this early season "relegation crunch"contest winners and subsequently moved three places up the table.

They couldn't have got off to a better start either with skipper Rob Troon heading them in front after barely 3 minutes, but unfortunately that was to be his last say in the match as he soon left the pitch with a niggling groin problem!

A youthful looking Truro came back strong and although having a lot of possession never really threatened Hayle's 'keeper Dave Cheal. Just past the half hour, Adam Freethy volleyed home a great right wing cross from Billy Curtis to give Hayle a two goal lead and see them well on route to their first win of the season.

Maximum points became a certainty soon after the restart when Chris Pugh pushed home a cross from Matt Thomas who dispossessed a hesitant Truro defence.

Midway through the second half Thomas got on the scoresheet himself when after the ball had come off a Truro upright, a defender attempted to clear but Thomas' challenge ensured the ball went hurtling back into the Truro net.

A convincing win for the home side, but for Truro, who arrived without an official club linesman, it surely has to be a case of strengthening their squad to get themselves off the bottom of the table and possible relegation!

Photos of the game are on the main CORNISH SOCCER website.

PORTLEVEN 1 V 4 NEWQUAY..

I wouid like to reply to kevin richards on the 3 match officals on this game.

firstly you need to get you facts right on where they come from.

The referee came from honiton and his fees alone was £150.

the 2 assts fees where £25 each and they came from plymouth.

This was also a FA appointment and not the peninsula league appointment.

So you think the 3 officals where poor??

As i was one of the officals on the day, and if you care to remember i was on the dugout side all game.

And i never had any hassle all game on my side of the pitch, so how you can say we were all poor that day??

as too the other assts i cant speak for him, but what i can tell you is he said he never had a clear view of it where the keeper handle outside, and that is his words!!

I hope this clear a few things up kevin :SM_carton_y:

Hi Proudgrandad, thanx for putting your side of the coin to my post. I wish a few more officials would come on here & answer back some of the critisism they receive. The only reason i felt you were poor was that i didnt think you worked as a team. We could clearly see from the dugout that the keeper was outside the penalty box when he handled &, as you were right in front of us, i felt that you seen it as well. In my opinion, no matter how far away from the incident you are, if you see something that the other 2 officials do not, as part of the team of referees, you should of flagged & told the referee what you had seen ! & you admitted to me at the time that you also felt it was outside the box. & with the score at 0-1 at the time, yes, i was slightly aggreived !

As for the £200 fee we had to find, i dont blame you the officials on the day, but how are clubs supposed to exist when they have to find that sort of money ? The words COMMON SENCE spring to mind !

hi kevin thank you for you reply.

as i was about 40 t0 50 yards away.

i honestly can say with hand on heart i was not 100% sure if he was outside.

and for creditabilty wise the ref and other assts where a lot closer then we were.

i totally agree with you on the cost.

shouid of been a little closer to you.i think the fa shouid have a closer look at where the referees are based it wouid save a small club like yours a lot of money

on the subject of working as a team i again agree with you.

Hope you were happy with my game :D

anyway it was nice to meet you on the day.

Good luck for the rest of the season too :clapper:
