SWPL fixtures, 9/10 Nov

Long old trek for a midweek game, which I thought was generally discouraged in this league.

Google gives it as 1 hour 36.

Dan,

Your absolutely right it's a long old trek for a mid week game. Last season we had to go to Pz on Good Friday for a 7pm KO.

This season we've had to go to Witheridge (had to make a special request to put the kick off back to 7.45pm) on a Wednesday evening in August. You would think there were a few Saturdays free to at least try and play on first.

Also scheduled to go to Cullompton midweek, but it got called off about 30 mins after we had set off.

I don't think travelling long journeys is given any special dispensation to anyone in this league - after all we're all professionals and earn loads of money from the game at this level don't we? It's not like we have jobs to go to or anything is it?

It would be great if things like this were given some extra thought, but I'm not sure how much freedom the fixture secretary is allowed to make some common sense revisions.

Part of being at Step 6 where all the grounds have lights and the correct facilities I guess?

Totally agree Stuart. Parkway had a midweek game to Cullompton, Elburton Villa recently travelled to Penzance and I am given to understand Ivybridge have also have a trip West as well.

With money being so tight in local football, surely looking at midweek fixtures and change them before they are published would save the long distance Clubs have to travel. Penzance will not get home until gone midnight. If the league were to arrange midweek fixtures cannot the teams make shorter journeys ?

Good win tonight Stuart
