Truro City bring in Cody Cooke + Jamie Ward

Recommended Posts

couple of youngsters from Penryn and Newquay have signed for Truro. Will they go straight in to the first team? Would seem strange to leave the top two in SWPL west at this point to play for the reserves? Obviously, long term, you'd expect it to be an excellent move for them.

What a waste of such young talent who have been playing for top peninsula west clubs and making a name for themselves, to go to a relegation threatened peninsula team have have offered promises that they have already broken to countless other young players they had signed.

This story has been bubbling under the surface for a couple of weeks, Jamie will be welcome back at Mount Wise anytime (sooner rather than later).

Completely unrelated, did anyone else see it reported, that Heaney had signed a deal with FIFA, wake up and smell the corruption !

Cody would of been much better staying at Penryn & learning off the likes of Dale Band etc. Would of made him a better player!

how can you criticise the coaching and management down truro. They have moved there for a reason. You look at the years of experience between john peters down truro and that of others. John has been in the game for over 35 years with pro clubs just a few on his cv. Cut truro a bit of slack unless you want to help them out so focus on your own club than what truro do or who they sign

calm down there Mr.Cornwall! people are allowed to be a little agrieved when a 'bigger' club comes in for the local youngsters, players like the names that have been mentioned are fully entitled to want to play at the highest level they wish to play, no-body will stop them doing this, but this forum is about freedom of speech

Truro will of course want to sign the most promising youth to make there club sustainable in the future when these young lads break into the 1st team, but surely you can understand why people have been writting that they are unhappy about it, they arent slagging off the coaches at Truro, just saying that learning of the players around you is what makes you into a better player, not saying that Penryn players are better or worse than Truro's, just thats what I got from reading the post

if Truro take these lads then leave them sit in the reserves then what was the point in taking them? maybe to bolster the reserves to give them a better chance of staying in the league, i don't know the reason and im not all that bothered really, just hope the young lads give it their best shot and do well, because every 1 in football wants to do well, thats why we all play every saturday afternoon :smiley20:

Why are these lads signing for Truro only to be playing Combo football next season?

Both James and Cody have signed to the club as they want to progress with their football,

They have been given a chance by the club as the first team spotted them and wanted to bring

Them in,it is now up to them to perform and if they do they will be involved around

The first team soon, they are both very greatful for what both penryn and

Newquay have done for them. And they will hopefully be within the 1st team at truro weekly very soon, good luck !

I dont know Cody but saw James Ward a few times at Newquay and he looks a tremendous prospect. I dont see why he shouldnt be pushing for the fringes by next season, get a few friendlies, cup games, etc it will only benefit the lad in the long run. However as Nemesis has said, if it doesnt work out he would always be appreciated by the Newquay supporters.

that last part of this topic really states that coaching has everything to do with it. what can make someone a better players, what moving to different clubs, thats just paperwork. what they get coached and what they do on the football pitch makes it sound and look a good move for a player. for the real reason why dont you ask the players themselves, as someone else has said its about progression. you have a better chance at mpving up to the first team or even the peninsula through truro city, just look at mamady sabu of now st blazey and where he was, so these two player should be given the best of luck rather than people thinking its a wrong move.

give these boys a chance!! Christ nothing like trying to put down cornish talent before its even had a chance!!! Im

Sure if both these boys eventually make it into the first team

Im sure truro will have more interest in their results!! Keep it local, keep it cornish!!! Good luck to both boys and hope they both progress into the first team.

CTB,

I think you'll find the SWPL Div 1 West and East divisions are aiming to get back to 18 sides. If this is the case there will be no relegation to the combo this season - unless there are more than 4 clubs promoted from the 6 feeder leagues, namely Combo, ECPL, North Devon, Plymouth West Devon, South Devon, Devon & Exeter and North Devon. I personally think 16 teams is the correct number at this (not fully floodlit) level, especially now all clubs play in the Charity Cup.

Do not think you will get any teams from Plymouth West devon League, not upto standard
