The Big Easy
Taken from the SWPL Website - Postponement Forum http://www.swpleague.co.uk/swpforum/viewtopic.php?t=2898 Statement from League Secretary at 10am Friday : In light of both the current weather conditions (snow already settled in much of the region) and the short term forecast which suggests snow showers today followed by a further significant amount of snow between 3am and 9am and also that tempertaures are not going to rise above freezing at anytime between now and Saturday afternoon it reluctantly makes sense to invoke the "Exceptional weather postponements procedure" This means that home clubs can postpone their games from after Midday today without the need for a formal pitch inspection and notify the league, the opponents and match officials accordingly. Clubs who feel that their is a chance of play at their ground tomorow are of course entitled to wait until Saturday morning but need to also consider the travelling of the away team, and also bear in mind that if a SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL occurs overnight as predicted this will add to travel issues. Cup matches : FA Vase - The FA require a formal inspection and if Off St Blazey v Bemerton will go to the 8th January with the Senior Cup tie with St Austell going to Weds 12th January. Devon Premier Cup - The 1 remaining tie between Totnes & Dartington and Plymouth Parkway Reserves if off will go to Sat 8th January. Cornwall Senior Cup - The Callington v Truro tie may well be switched to the 3G pitch at Callington school, if that does not happen the tie will go back to the 8th January. The Launceston v Penzance replay if off will go back to the 8th January. The Torpoint v Bodmin Senior Cup tie "could" go to next midweek but in light of the forecast for the next few days if either club wants to put it straight back to Saturday 8th January then that would be acceptable to both CCFA and the League. Advance weather forecasts suggests the worst of the snow will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday then a period of cold and ice will start next week with the only crumb of comfort suggesting that temperatures may improve from Christmas Eve onwards giving some hope that the festive games on the 26th and 27th may be ok. Any HOME club wishing to postpone tomorows games are therefore invited to PHONE me from Midday onwards. Phil Hiscox Friday 10am
