The Big Easy
League statement taken from the SWPL Forum - http://www.swpleague.co.uk/swpforum/viewtopic.php?t=2908 League Statement issued Midday on Wednesday 22nd December The Chairman and Secretary have jointly agreed a protocol for festive fixtures scheduled for Monday 27th December. We are aware that these games very often produce the best attendances of the whole season and pretty well all matches are local derbies where travel has been kept to a minimum. Equally we are aware of the current weather with snow still laying in large parts of the region and freezing temperatures overnight. The forecast suggests, and 5 day forecasts are not as detailed as 24 hour ones, that the worst of the snow is behind us and a glimmer of hope exists that daytime temperatures may rise slightly after the 25th December. Therefore we have agreed that home clubs who feel that a postponement is likely can arrange for either a formal or informal inspection on the morning of the 26th December (a referee need not be required to attend) and if off the league will sanction the postponement on the 26th. To ease communication both from clubs wishing to call off and for those looking to find out if games have been called off the league secretary has agreed to man the phones and update the league website for a 4 hour period on Boxing Day, Sunday 26th December. He will accept calls from home clubs from 9am through to 1pm on the 26th December and list by 1pm all games called off a day early. Should clubs feel that play is possible and they wish to leave a decision to the 27th itself then they may do so and they can call in from 8am onwards. The secretary is intending going to a game on the 27th so if calling after 9.30am please phone on his mobile number rather than his landline.
