Liskeard 1-0 Ivybridge

Kanakh

Fine win for Liskeard today who really had to battle and work hard to get their second "double" of the season and take the three points but it could have so different if Ivybridge had taken one of their early chances. For all Ivybridges' early possesion and dominance, they couldn't find a way past a determined back four and new keeper Sam Borthwick. Liskeard were happy to go in at have time 0-0. The home side began to see more of the ball in the second half, thanks to Sam Coopers excellent workrate. In the 70th minute it was his persistance that kept the ball and then released Joe Carey on the right. Carey sent in a perfect cross which found Demetri Kanakh at the far post to smash home the only goal of the game. Good to see Matt Godfree back to captain and lead his side well today, they certainly missed him in the last three games. Nasty challenge in injury time next to the corner flag from Ivybridge's Dennis Mason who was lucky that the ref seemed to have lost his red card.

Very true. A good dogged performasnce from the blues. And Mr Mason might not have shone today but thats no excuse for such a disgusting tackle in the last minute, it was silly and not something which on reflection he will be happy with. Dont know how the ref only dug out a yellow for him though!

Godolphin 3 - 0 Porthleven

Godolphin collected three relatively easy points to assist their push towards the top of the league with a three goal victory over lacklustre Porthleven at Godolphin Way.

Godolphin outlined their intentions by dominating early exchanges, Lee Paxton's turn and drive forcing a fingertip save in the seventh minute. Porthleven's physical game was exposed by the movement of Phil Lowry, who could have opened the scoring after an excellent exchange with Ross Fallons on the edge of the Porthleven area, however, Paxton was on hand to slot home the opener when a cross-field ball found Tom Sheperd at the far post who unselfishly turned the ball back across the six yard box for a routine finish.

Porthleven continued to make life difficult for themselves with some poor defensive clearances, gifting opportunities to Lowry and Paxton who both failed to convert. Porthleven failed to offer any attacking threat and their first meaningful effort on goal was a long-range strike on the half-hour mark; Godolphin's quick counter attack almost extended the margin moments later and Porthleven had their goalkeeper to thank for an excellent close range save as the first half drew to a conclusion.

Port had their best chance in first half stoppage time when a free-kick from the left wing sailed over the Godolphin defence, resulting in a very good opportunity being squandered from ten yards; when Shaun Semmens in the Godolphin goal spilled a long-range strike early on in the second half an equaliser looked on the cards and another great chance went begging. Lee Paxton made Porthleven pay within a matter of minutes with another quality finish, outpacing the last defender, staying on his feet despite an obvious shirt-pull, dispatching a low strike into the bottom corner to effectively put the game out of sight.

Godolphin continued to create opportunities in the second half, with Mickey Thompson denied by a smart stop and Kyle Brown finishing off a flowing team move with a run from deep only to be thwarted by an offside flag that caused a few raised eyebrows from the Godolphin faithful. With ten minutes remaining, an excellent fingertip save from Semmens resulted in a Porthleven corner that came to nothing; from the subsequent counter-attack Godolphin moved forward quickly and Phil Lowry was on hand to curl home a precise third from just inside the corner of the box. Derek Martin made a triple substitution late on a David Rabone was close to adding a fourth when he met an inswinging corner with a header that was cleared off the line.

On a different note...

Josh Harris was the main benefactor of Port's failure to attend the Godolphin clubhouse at the end of the game, eating his own body weight in food! Perhaps the temptation of the FA cup game was too much...

Saltash 0 - 2 Plymouth Parkway SWP League

Saltash had two early chances, first a shot was turned behind for a corner before an effort that was easily saved by the keeper. It was two quick fire goals that won Parkway the game, first a free kick ended up with a free close range effort before a strike from the edge of the area. Had it not been for the keeper making good saves and the woodwork twice, Parkway could have had more before half time.

Second half, Parkway were reduced to ten not long into it but although seeing Saltash have a lot of the ball were not threatened too often but had Saltash scored instead of hitting the bar then it would have been interesting to see if Saltash had pushed on or see if Parkway stepped up a gear to make sure they won the game.Another good save from the Saltash keeper kept it at 2-0

That is how it finished and with the two favourites to win the league drawing today, perhaps there is a glimmer of hope for Parkway?

It's always easy to critisize referees after the game but todays made it hard on himself. Players from both sides were at him all day from start to finish and he tolerated that. Cynical fouls went unpunished as did constant questioning and back chat from players. It's a hard job being a ref but this one didn't make it easy on himself. A couple of early yellows would have nipped it in the bud but he seemed reluctant to take control today.

Falmouth 1 Elburton 1

Falmouth deserved to loose this game they were awful,

you would think that this was the first game that the team had played together, Elburton were all over Town, & scored first,

On this showing it will be a Miracle if Falmouth managed to finnish in the top six,

I was also told that Falmouth were just as bad playing against St Blazey,

Falmouth normally play Football, yesterday it was kick anywhere & hope for the best, Steward Massey must have been pulling his hair out,

A question for Alan Carey the Manager, why has Falmouth got rid of so many good players Like Liam Eddy for one,

on this showing my predictions for the rest of the season for Falmouth Town Win 3 Draw 3 Loose 5 the rest anybodies guess,

Hammers a very unhappy Falmouth Town supporter,

:c:^_^:huh::angry::c:

Ps one thing in Towns favour a lot of other top teams either lost or drew yesterday.

Both teams could have won the game (many missed chances/great saves) but each deserved a point at least. Saying all that Elburton travelled home feeling robbed with 2 late goals ruled offside (last one near the end mainly). Did anyone else at the game think the lino go it wrong?

Nick to be fair I am not saying this because I support Falmouth but I think the ref Assistant got it right in fact I think all of the Officials had a generally good game,

Hammers :c: :c:

Hammers, I agree the officials had a good game overall and were very approachable afterwards to talk things over, which was nice to see. Lets agree to disagree on that crucial decision at the end though :smiley20:

Big thank you to all at Falmouth for their hospitality
