A much-improved performance from Buckland from Saturday’s game against Penzance over a very young, and very spirited Ivybridge side, who never gave up despite the score line.

Buckland opened the score sheet with a stunning 25 yarder from Gary Fisher after just 4 minutes of play.

Just 2 minutes later a throw in decision was completely over ruled and wrongly given to Buckland, despite the Linesman giving it correctly to Ivybridge the Ref overruled it ,Buckland quickly took advantage and Mike Booth knocked in a easy goal from 1 yard .

This did not knock The Ivy's at all, and they came at Buckland and for a short spell took control and went close to scoring on several occasions including Monty having to pull a golden save, pushing a vicious low level strike to his left.

Buckland overcame this period and soon settled and were playing the ball around well, their hard work paid off when, just before half time, Mike Booth put away Bucklands third and his second of the night.

From the start of the second half Buckland took total control and Ivybridge were looking a little jaded , when after just 9 mins of play, a great pass from Si Revell found Gary Fisher and the former Dawlish Skipper stuck away goal number 4 and his second.

Liam Mosley came on for Gary Fisher and on 76 minutes struck a low level shot to the left of the keeper to put number 5 on the board.

But this spirited young Ivybridge side still looked to get a goal, but Buckland too were pressing hard, and with the defence pushed up in search of goal number six, Ivybridge broke forward with terrific pace , Bucklands midfield failed to drop back and the two back tracking centre halves of Marc Revell and Cameron Kelly couldn’t quite stop a superb strike going to the left of Monty.

You could see the disappointment on the Buckland back four faces, as conceding goals is not an option!

However from kick off Buckland pushed forward and were awarded a free kick 25 yards out.

Cameron Kelly and Dean Stevens both lined up, but it was Kelly who hit a screamer into the right hand side of the net giving the keeper no chance.

In injury time young sub Ben Cowling hit our seventh.

Chris Mitchell had a perfectly good goal disallowed after he beat two players, went between both centre halves and hit a perfectly timed shot home, only to for the lino to say he tugged a shirt on his way through so perhaps that evens out goal number two ?

Cant complain about he score or result but it did hurt to concede that goal !

Disappointing crowd again, but with Torquay Home, Exeter Home and a local Derby between Newton Spurs and Galmpton it was always going to be the case.

MOM Gary Fisher.
