SWPL Premier Game Off - Penzance v Royal Marines

Recommended Posts

League Statement

Please note that the league have been informed today that Royal Marines AFC are unable to fulfil the away fixture at Penzance this coming Saturday (18th Feb)

The full reasons as to why a team cannot be fielded are best answered by the club themselves, but the league have been assured that this is a problem for this week only and this fixture only. The club assures us they will fulfil their obligations to the league.

As for Saturdays match the result is awarded with Penzance receiving the 3 points, although a scoreline of 0-0 has to be given as a league cannot award goals.

The Royal Marines will be deducted 1 point from its total as well as not gaining any points from the match in question. In addition they will be fined a significant three figure sum with a further three figured sum suspended over them should the offence be repeated. (For the purpose of fairness the punishment is exactly the same as imposed on Perranporth for a similar offence earlier in the season.

Please do not advertise the fixture as its not now going ahead and hopefully the match officials can be reused elsewhere on Saturday

Regards

Very disappointing this - especially in a fixture that Marines could hope to get something from.

Another little helping hand for the Blazey, but that's not how we would want to go about achieving survival.

This shouldn't be happening at this level of football.

are all the royal marines players actual serving forces members??

could it be they have had something crop up that means that they are required for something??

I thought they had a few civilians in their regular side. Is it any co-incidence that Penzance is the longest journey of the season? If they continue this way they won't have any long away trips next season!

Can't be a work thing cos if its anything like the navy, they only work Monday lunchtime to Thursday lunchtime, 5-a-side permitting, and all wars have to be booked in 3 months in advance.
