St Dennis FC v Dobwalls FC Charity Cup Semi Final 7.30 @ Bodmin Town FC

Recommended Posts

We were slow to start today and slow to react. St Dennis just seemed to have that little edge and extra desire especially in the opening 20.

We talked about the importance of not conceding early and even changed our formation 30 minutes before the game to 451 instead of our usual 442. Thought the extra man in midfield would keep things tight and allow our lads to get lots of early touches of the ball . . . . . . . how wrong did we get that !!!

2 down in 15 . . . . . didn't mention that in the coaching manual.

For the 1st time in a long long time we actually showed a bit of character which doesn't usually come as 2nd nature to our young squad.

But they dug deep and got back into it with a great last 20 of 1st half and strong opening 20 of 2nd half.

2-2 with goals from Hake & Hook.

We thought the pendulum had swung in our favour and we expected to push on from there. But it wasn't to be.

3 goals for St Dennis in the last 20-25 minutes possibly flattered them, but to be fair they were clinical in front of goal tonight where as we were a little wasteful.

Everything we did well defensively on saturday against Foxhole we did poorly tonight. Keeperv felt he should have done alot better with 2 and I tend to agree and St Dennis 2nd was an absolute gift as we allowed there No.8 to tip toe in our back yard and score with a free header from 12 yards. Not a Dobwalls defender within 5 yards . . . . . Lots of shouting and lots of finger pointing but no-one taking resposibility.

Anyway sorry if that's a boring read but had to get that off my chest.

Well done St Dennis. A Club with a good reputation for a Cup run. All the very best in the final to Dave and the boys.

Hopefully next year we'll go one better and get to the final.

Great result for st dennis, I thought Dobwalls were very poor

St dennis looked like the team in the top six

Good luck to st dennis in the final, and good luck to dobwalls for the rest of the season

Dobwalls were very poor on the night and didn't cope well with the St Dennis route 1 football, the defending was poor and they gave away needless freekicks which were punished. Not a shadow of the side that beat Foxhole convincingly at the weekend.

Good luck to St Dennis for the final.
