SimonL
Got my ticket as well and looking forward to it. Do you know how many tickets have been sold so far? Imagine there is going to be a few more fans there, based on Leeds Utd's following, than turned up for the QPR match last summer.

Ian Southcott
I can only say from our own experience on Monday night that you will be guaranteed a fantastic atmosphere, the Leeds supporters were absolutely brilliant! They sung from start to finish and I would imagine Kevin Miller will get some banter from behind his goal this evening. Meedo got some stick but it was all good natured. With the weather as it is and Bodmin geared up for the occasion, it will be a superb evening and one not to miss. It will probably be one of the biggest games ever staged in Cornwall, good luck to Bodmin Town.

RAPPO
Remember the Man.City game Crouchy, big crowd. We (Falmouth Town) played Aston Villa in 96? Think the attendance was announced at 4800 but I reckon there were at least 6000 inside Bickland that night!!! Might be one for Mr Mike Odgers memory bank!? While you're there Mike what was the team that night mate? Remember bout 8 of it I think? Ray was manager, 95 maybe?
Nemesis
Newquay 0 v 6 Man City - July 14th 1998, official Att given as 3,500 which is still the current ground record. You can't knock Bodmin for having a special arrangement with Warnock, won't be quite the same when should he get sacked and turns up next season with a side from League 2. It does send out the message to other SWPL clubs to get their act together, literally in some cases, pool resources and get some of the better supported clubs down here. A syndicate of 3 or 4 Devon & Cornish clubs could put together a package to get Man Utd or City Ressies or those of Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, Celtic, The club previously known as Rangers etc - As a 4 club deal, say Penzance, Newquay, a Plymouth side and a Torbay side (or any 4 others) could put a 8 or 10 day deal together, drag in the 2 Counties tourist boards as thousands do come on holiday to support their side, as we have seen this week, holiday parks could be brought in and so on. It sounds simple I know, and yes I do realise that getting such clubs down won't be easy and will require a lot planning, budgets etc. However, if clubs don't try something different, then getting a big payday every year or so is just not on the cards for most of us. If anyone wants to get their club involved in such a possible project, please PM me or email newquayafc@gmail.com.
100%cornish
There used to be a tournament called the studio 10 tournament the teams that took part where spurs ,man utd , liverpool ,everton ,sheff wed,and plymouth i remember plymouth beating man utd in the final and a young ryan giggs was playing that night and liverpool had robbie fowler and jamie redknapp and steve mcmanaman in there team .They where all only reserves at the time but all went on to bigger things .I would dispute the attendance at bodmin last night it must of been more like 4000 it was so packed .Why cant Newquay say get legends like when liverpool played up there and had a big crowd people would love to see man utd legends etc ,and with this being the biggest resort in cornwall fans would flock in ,look at Bodmin last night the supporters from Yorkshire was unbelievable i dont think Neil Warnock will be bringing anyone down next season i heard last night that if he is sacked by leeds hes goin to retire to cornwall cant blame him .Hope Newquay have a good season but heaven helps them when they get to play Bodmin maybe Carter +Luxon will be out for that game they both played so well last night until luxton got injured.I remember so many good friendly matches and most where at Newquay with Watford Man city WBA Rushen and diamonds and also saw CELTIC down Penzance

RAPPO
Thanks for the kind words Mr.Cornish!! Also for the info! Spoke to Parry earlier on the phone and we had a good old trip down memory lane about the Newquay and Falmouth days! Mike has also put a bit on the main discussion section, Parry reminded me they also had Steve Staunton, Ray Houghton, Andy Townsend and Paul McGrath who were not in that squad because they had just come back from the world cup 94 in the USA. They beat Man Utd 3-1 in the Carling Cup Final two months before they beat us 3-1!!! Sounds like we had a good result when you put it like that! I put a decent chance past the post in that game to make it 2-2 as well about 10 minutes after Wadds scored. Gutted!! Dont think big Ron would have been chuffed with a 2-2 at Falmouth!!! Agree, wish more clubs would get the big clubs down because it shows they will get the support and hopefully make a few quid in the process for themselves and its lovely for the kids down here to see players they might only ever see on the tv. 3000+ at a tenner a head must make sense!?! :c:

Martin Mullis
To celebrate Bodmins centenary in 1989 QPR played at priory side included David Seaman, Paul Parker, Peter Reid, the late Alan MacDonald among others, in the 90's Southampton with Alan Shearer Tim Flowers etc won 5-0 with Shearer scoring a hat-trick. In my opinion, perhaps because i was sec at time!, Sheffield Wednesday with Trevor Francis as manager was the strongest side to play at Priory, the side included Chris Waddle, Nigel Worthington,John Sheridan, Carlton Palmer, Roland Nilsson, David Hirst playing and Des Walker had just signed but did not play. The Premiership side won 9-2 with the highlight being Waddles 25 yard lob over Paul Hicks.

isaac rosenberg
St Just once lost 3-5 to QPR. They played Plymouth Argyle regularly on Feast Monday in the seventies, a 2-4 defeat being the best result I remember. D K
Gents I may be speaking out of turn as I haven't asked his permission to name drop but there is a company called The Cornish Sporting Club based in St Austell that are definitely the boys to speak to regarding the attraction of some big clubs to the county. Alan George is the Director of the company and I know him from the cricket circuit as he plays for St Austell. Recently he has organised The Cornish Cricket Festival at Truro which was a massive success despite horrendous weather and he has some solid contacts across a wide range of sports; including football. Google them or his other company Gala Events to get a flavour for what they specialise in; I would be confident of him pulling off a Studio 10 type tournament - the professionalism and attention to detail for the cricket festival was fantastic. Most of the teams in SWPL premier survive on modest budgets, I agree great for the likes of Tavy and Bodmin to make lots of one off monies, Bodmin have done it for years but are still in the same league as the low budget clubs , made very few improvments to their stadium and not moved up the pyramid and the outcome is Cornish football is still in the backwaters, so from a Cornish football point of view doesn't make much difference whether big clubs come down here or not, maybe they should play more ambitious Cornish clubs to try and get Cornish soccer on the map.
