Foxhole 0 Launceston 4

Saturday 4th August 2012

While Launceston were undoubtedly good value for their victory, a much changed Foxhole outfit, fielding only five of Wednesday's squad in their thirteen, played a full part in an entertaining game, particularly in the opening half hour. However two questionable penalty decisions against the unfortunate centre-half Robins on Morgan, each easily converted by Banks after 27 and 69 minutes, proved crucial, the second of which coming after dalliance on the ball by Allen. The emergency keeper's weak punch on 84 then allowed Julian to complete the visitor's tally, but he had done brilliantly in fairness since the break to keep the score respectable as Launceston turned the screw, although he was helpless to prevent Morgan's drive on 57 following a rare breakdown in communication between Robins and Faircloth, whose partnership at the heart of the defence offered some hope for what is clearly set to be a testing season.

Foxhole (4-5-1): Chris Allen; Daniel Allen, Ben Thomas, James Robins, Richard Faircloth; Jamie Killen, Steve Heap, Daley Turner, Ashley Taylor, Matt May; Jamie Robinson. Subs: Martin Rowe, Garren Lee.

Launceston (4-4-2): Tom Coles; Ashley O'Rourke, John Harrison, Mickey Rowles-Jane, Mitchell Hoskin; Jay Martin, Richard Graves, Paul Banks, Stuart Rickard; Paul Cowling, Lee Morgan. Subs: Callum O'Brien, Ryan Julian, Lewis Knight, Sam Stockdale.

Referee: Mr Michael Mills (Boyton).

Yes it was our side (2nd) team. After a very tough few weeks for tony an I, we have now reinforced our squad with some very good players after losing 6 through the summer, 3 to swpl football, 1 to the navy, and 2 through long term injury. Very pleasing win for us yesterday considering it was our first friendly and with many new faces, also an away clean sheet is always a bonus.

Big thanks to foxhole for the game and hospitality, good luck for the season ahead
