The Villains
Posted A minute ago Ivybridge 1 - 2 Liverton Evenly matched teams. Liverton had a goal disallowed after 1 min for offside. Ivybridge should have taken the lead midway through the 1st half after rounding the keeper, a covering defender cleared the ball from a certain goal, some 10 mins later again the Ivybridge attacker had a 1 on 1 with the keeper but failed to take the advantage to put them in front, as always when missing 2 excellent chances, they were made to pay by conceding a goal 5 mins before half time, 1 of the few times Liverton were not off side, the striker slide it neatly under the oncoming keeper. Half time 0 - 1 As per the first half not a lot between to the 2 teams. However, it was Liverton that got the second goal 20 mins in to the 2nd half. Play having been stopped so an Ivybridge player could receive treatment on the half way line, on restarting the game and the defender off the pitch, the Liverton No 9 put the ball into touch some 5 yds from the Ivybridge goal, Ivybridge failed to clear their lines and conceded the goal. Liverton sat back on their 2 goal lead and paid the price for being complacent at the back and 24 mins in to the 2nd half, the Liverton defenders should have cleared the ball, but it was chased down by the Ivybridge striker, the keeper blasted it against him, dropping at the feet of an oncoming player who passed it into an empty net. Ivybridge pushed for an equaliser, but, time just ran out. A draw would have been a fair result, but it goals that count and Ivybridge need to do better in front of goal. Paul
St Blazey 11v0 Penzance. St Blazey now back where they belong, top of the league!!! Now to win the title!!! Today for St Blazey was about taking the 3 points. They were in a no win situation really. Job done in great style. Glynn Hooper looking on will be a worried man tonight as the St Blazey head to Newquay on tuesday night. We might settle for a 5 nil win then!!! To be honest though, full credit to the Pz players for turning up and never giving up. One central defender was 57 years old. Today for them was all about just being there. Lets hope they get through this as its a great little club. The resut today dosnt really matter, its all about the future for them. Nice new look program today. Looking very good. Att: 100 Lets see plenty of green and black over Newquay on tuesday. They are a worried bunch. :yahoo:
