Paul
Any date set for the Phil Smith friendly against St Blazey?
Town are on the up
Paul, St Blazey have informed St Austell they no longer want to play the fixture. Apparently Mr Oaten does not want to play St Austell too many times in one year. Quite disappointing to hear really as its a memorial match for someone who gave a lot to both clubs. Lafs
Very disappointing to read this, particularly only a couple of weeks after the anniversary of Phil's passing . Phil was one of my best friends and my original idea of this fixture was to benefit Help For Heroes by pitting together the two Clubs that Phil gave almost all of his short career to. Im well aware things change with time and different personnel have different ideas and plans, however if this is the case that Bobby Oaten has brought an end to this Memorial game, then the powers that be at St Blazey FC should overrule. SuperCooper
I believe that Dave Bray is looking to put a county youth team together that played with Phil to play St Austell.
bushy12
This has really angered me. This is a memorial friendly for a truly great guy that raises money for a charity that meant a lot to Smithy. Just goes to show what a selfish idiot Oaten is. Another 6 points of Blazey this year please!
Mike Odgers
When Phil played for Falmouth in 2005-06 these were his team mates just before he left for the ArmyGary Penhaligan-Jon Winters-Martin Day-Tom Chambers-Bradley Ralph-Jay Isbell-Nick Campbell-Tom Sundercombe-Mike Body-Scott Hill-Phil Lafferty-Dan Nancarrow-Dan Lean-Gary Wheildon-Adam Bradshaw-Jake HartiganSurely a team could be put together from these (close friends) names for say -AFC St.Austell v 'Old' St.Austell
