Newquay. 1 St Austell 6. Friday 18th October

Recommended Posts

It was a good win for the Lillywhites but in all honesty they would have expected to beat that Newquay side ninety nine times out of one hundred. Yes Newquay have a few good young players in their ranks including several county players, but they look devoid of any real direction and offered virtually nothing going forward tonight. St Austell are starting to climb the table and are looking strong.

Thoroughly enjoyed the game, Newquays youngsters did superbly for an hour and never gave up right to the final whistle. St Austell scored some cracking goals, well worked, good to see Danny Carne has developed into the quality player we all knew he would be.

Official attendance of 166 mystified a lot of folk, looked well over 220, although the weather would have kept some away. Nice to see some of our nearest neighbours in the crowd, not sure why St Austell didn't have more support, they have an excellent home average.

The ground always looks great under the lights, even better this season with the new installation, lowering them by a good 25 feet and using high lux rated bulbs has made a massive difference, even the pitch looked great despite the on/off downpours.

Well done St Austell, deserved 3 points, delighted for the Newquay youngsters endeavours, think almost everyone went home feeling they had seen a good game.

Yes some good goals from St Austell despite a disappointing first half. However some of the delivery from wide was quality.

Newquay are always going to miss players like Welds and Jack Bray Evans.I am sure their effort tonight when bolstered by players returning will see them climb the table.Always a pleasure to visit Mount Wise ,so many quality people behind the scenes and always hospitable.
