Penryn 2-2 Penzance

You could hear them playing the theme tune to The Great Escape as both sides walked off the pitch. Penryn snatched a point at the end scoring two goals in the final few minutes with their only shots on target.

Penzance totally dominated the game but only scored twice from about a dozen chances.

0-1 4mins. A Callum George header at the back post following a corner on the right

0-2 74mins Lewis Caspell after Pz came down their left, square to Lewis who beat two before knocking in low from 12yds.

1-2 81mins ??? Quick ball down their right, square for a low shot from 15yds

2-2 88mins ??? Down the right, square, flick on for a flick shot that rose.

Parkway 0 Bodmin 1 ( Chris Wright ) ( HT 0-0 )

Bodmin showed that reports of their demise earlier in the season were greatly exaggerated ,taking their unbeaten run to 15 , and becoming the first side to take points off Parkway with this victory.

A crowd of 300 plus were witness to a first half that was very scrappy and niggly , with a liberal sprinkling of bookings and stoppages , the first effort coming on goal in the 17th minute when Steve Colwell sent an effort over the bar . Bodmin had to wait until the 37th minute for their first sight of goal , Seb Broomfield blazing the ball over from 6 yards after typically jinking run from Sam Matthews . The second half carried on in the same vein with Bodmin's Jimmy Alexander being the only player to test either keeper . Parkway then built up a head of steam as the game became stretched with Ryan Richards being brilliantly denied by Kevin Miller in a one on one , Adam Carter contriving to somehow roll wide from a few yards and Ryan narrowly missing the net when well placed . Substitute Levi Landricombe also drew a top class reflex save from Miller when he lashed a left footed volley goalwards . Bodmin sub Chris Wright had already served a warning to Parkway when his shot on turn drew a scrambling save from Elphick , and it was Wright who , with almost 90 minutes on the clock , found space and time on the right hand side of the box to drive a shot off the underside of the bar and into the net . Bodmin celebrated the win like they had retained the title at the final whistle .For the home team ,it is now all about how Parkway react to this with a big Vase game coming up next week .

Would just like to say I thought the ref who took charge of ivybridge v Falmouth was excellent today, constantly talking to players throughout the game and let it flow as much as possible under the circumstances (heavy pitch), refs don't get enough praise but he deserves it, unfortunately I don't know his name

Sticker 8 Porthleven 0 (A.Butler 3, J.Bowyer, B.Rosevear, S.Kenny, B.Ralph, C.Brown.) Superbly refereed by Kevin Knowles!

Best ref around raze by far

Yup and he thoroughly enjoyed the game too!

Sorry guys but would have to disagree with you on the subject of Kevin Knowles. He may be a decent ref for teams he takes a liking to and enjoys banter with but for teams he doesn't like they are in trouble. That by definition makes him a very poor ref because it means he is bias. For that reason I would class him as one of the worst referees around. Anyway how hard can it be to referee an 8 0.

At least 11 games played in the SWPL yesterday featuring Cornish clubs - any chance of getting back to talking about the matches and not the referees?

Well I suppose you're welcome to your opinion, but having stopped myself from entering into debate on such matters on this forum I have to defend Kevin to the hilt. I work with him and we talk about the game every day and I can assure you that bias does not exist his his vocabulary. I've watched him referee and been refereed by him and if you knew him you'd understand why your statement won't be endorsed by many.

He's been one of the top 300 referees in this country in his prime and is happy to referee at any level on a Saturday and help out again on a Sunday if he's called upon.

If you've had a negative experience while he's been running your game then fair enough, but "very poor because it means that he is bias" NO.

Dave I suppose I started this debate but I only mentioned the referee Kevin Knowles in a good light for our match yesterday because so much rubbish gets printed about refs on this forum I thought it was about time they got some well deserved praise. As for Dave the raves comments I can only assume he has not treated Kevin with respect and an 8-0 result might appear to be an easy game to referee but he still has to do his job. Porthleven are a very good young side and never stopped trying to play decent football its just Sticker were on fire yesterday!

Mr. Matthews Kevin is an excellent ref and one I look up to. Your comments is boarder line defamation!

I think you need to read Tommys post again, your both in the same corner.

In addition, I would agree, consistent performances whatever level/age he is reffing

You beat me to it Sharky, I was just about to say the same thing!

I can't believe we didn't win this game!

Nevertheless, it was another hugely encouraging performance from Penzance. Let's hope there's many more to come! :D

Great to see Dobwalls start pulling it together at home. 4 home wins on the trot. Sadly wasnt there for this one, the mild inconvenience of work...

Dobwalls should have won the game by a bigger margin, after going into the break at 2-0. They seemed to take their foot off the pedal in the second half and almost let St dennis back into the game at the end when a mistake by the keeper let them reduce the arrears.

In the 10 minutes injury time played they did get the ball into the net but it was disallowed for offside. Had St Dennis played the previous 90 minutes in the same vein as they did at the end they may have got something out of the game.
