Ian Pethick
Parkway 3 Saltash United 0 ( HT 2-0 ) (Levi Landricombe 2 , Ryan Richards ) Parkway took the title after a pretty comfortable victory against Saltash United . Two first half goals by Man Of The Match Levi Landricombe took his total to 40 in the league for the season , and proved decisive over an Ashes side that played good possession football , but were restricted to long range efforts that were competently dealt with by the secure Ben Elphick against a Parkway team in which stand in sweeper Lance Bailey , Steve Colwell and Dan Hart were superb . Substitute Ryan Richards put the seal on the win late on . A bumper crowd that was counted at 682 saw a game a game that was played with little incident between two sides that wanted to play football , this also contributed to the excellent game that referee Phil Eddie had . I am struggling to remember any actions Mr Eddie took throughout the 90 minutes which , with so many men in the middle seeming to think that they are the centre of attention , is high praise indeed . Rayvon
Congratulations to Plymouth Parkway on winning the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League. As a neutral I found it a very interesting contest with several teams in contention right up until the end unlike as in previous seasons. Regarding taking promotion I have no problem with any of our teams not wishing to take the plunge and unless you have a very big financial backer I see no benefit whatsoever. The outlays are high the profits are low. IMO the FA in there ivory towers should make more effort to encourage non league clubs to progress rather than giving so much to the league clubs. BoarderSheep
Great Occasion at Bolitho and to see a Plymouth team win the title. As a spectacle it was a shame that Saltash conceded the 2 early goals which cooled the atmosphere for a neutral. Enjoyed the season not only watching Parkway but a lot of other games aswell. Normally find a lot of space to watch a game on my lonesome but with crowd so big down there it was impossible. With that came the advantage of hearing others views like it shouldn't have come to this. Should have been won weeks ago. What surprised me was the numbers that seem to want Saltash to win. I have looked at the history of Parkway and where the have come from and as I have mentioned before can't understand why people want them to fail, which is a shame. Going on to next season should be interesting. If Saltash can keep their improvement going. Ivybridge can add to their squad and go for it again. Can Bodmin come good again. Witheridge become more consistent and put in a challenge. It was a up and down season this time lets hope for a close one again next.
