justsomerandom
We are looking to improve the standard of our football pitch, are there any grounds people out there that can help? I am led to believe that the key is aeration, irrigation, seeding, fertilization and weed control. However these are just words to me!!! I am also told that a chain and harrow is a good thing instead of a roller?? I need some practical tips... anyone please help!!!

TheolderIgetthebetterIwas
At this level a roller is a necessity, its the weight that matters, only ever use a roller that is light enough to do the job. Water filled rollers are ideal, you can alter the weight to the required level. Harrowing is old hat but useful at this level , there are a few different types of harrows, each does a different job, just choose the right one. They are most effective when the surface is dry.
