OldFan
The ECPL fixtures are a bit lack lustre, any particular reason why? No Boxing Day game's and no great derby's on the Saturday. Would of been an exciting weekend to see fixture's like Tavistock v Bere, Plymstock v Elburton, Saltash v St Dom, even Polperro v Callington, Launceston v St Teath is a kind of Derby I suppose & what a cracker Torpoint v Edgcumbe would of been. Before the fixtures are set, do they not bother with derby's at xmas in the ECPL? Fair enough If their are reasons why not though.
Guest
Can't force teams to play on Boxing Day I'm afraid
OldFan
No obviously you can't force teams, but If that's when they're scheduled then so be it, assume the young lads would prefer a boxing day game than the day after anyway! OldFan
Hopefully the fixture secretary takes this in to account at the start of the season and we see some derby's where possible!
unitedrhino
Nanpean v Roche Saturday 27th i think is a very Local Derby
Guest
Why not ask the clubs at the AGM if any teams want to play on Boxing Day? If two teams do then it can become a traditional fixture.
OldFan
I'm sure Torpoint v Millbrook used to. That could now be Edgcumbe v Torpoint plus all the other local derby's in the league. Just think it'd make an exciting week for premier football. cornishbarbarian
I agree always done it in the combo. Always been a success, with local derbies all the lads usually know each other have a tough exciting game and then most generally go on the beer together afterwards. To be honest I'm surprised it's not done in that league. For some teams the Boxing Day game is the most important of the season!!
cornishteddyboy
In 1960-61 26th December: Helston Town Reserves 1-2 Penzance Reserves The following day 27th December: Penzance Reserves 3-1 Helston Athletic Reserves Anyone do that now? Barters
Torpoint played Millbrook at the Reg Jenkins Ground last year - this year Torpoint CSWPL play Saltash at The Mill - with Edgecombe playing at Millbay Park not sure how many would have left Kernow to travel abroad to England on Boxing Day
