Northernmonkey
Saltash 2Stoke Gabriel 1On a beautiful warm day these two sides huffed and puffed to produce an intriguing encounter. Saltash took the lead midway through the first half despite desperate attempts to clear the ball of the line.Early in the second half SG equalised when a lovely cross was tucked away by the nippy and mobile centre forward. The scores weren't level for long as Saltash were back in front. A cross from the right was nodded home by the big sub who came on upfront. Despite the game being an even encounter SG had very few goalscoring opportunities. As a neutral this game was a breath of fresh air from the St Austell v Plymouth Parkway game I saw the previous night. Today there was no moaning and groaning, just two teams wanting to get the ball down and attack their opponents. A very enjoyable afternoons entertainment. Dave Deacon
Watched the Falmouth v Launceston match today. 2 players sent off for the visitors - one deserved, one a bit harsh. Not the best goalless affair I've ever watched, but both sides will pick out the positives. For Falmouth - a clean sheet and another point under Westy (their new player/manager) with a fairly young looking sideFor Launceston - with the two reds, the fact that they still got a point; and a 'character' performance in which they could have nicked something with a couple second half breaks

Cornishfan74
Newquay and Ivybridge finished 2-2 which was probably the fair result, bit of a scrappy game with a lot of fouls, player bust ups and shouting from players to officials although only 2 bookings produced. Newquay had an Extremely young side with the oldest outfield player being 24 as there where at least 5-6 regulars missing. Thought the away team pinched it in the last minute but Newquay scored a last gasp goal for the point.
tango602
Eventually got down to Helston to watch Bodmin today, missed the first 40 minutes due to my train being late into Redruth and missing the bus connection to Helston.Pleased we got the win but felt we did not mark tightly enough at times, now to look ahead to next Saturday. ECPL
I'm afraid I do not have the time to produce SWPL fixtures and results as I have enough to do with the ECPL. I only did it because no one else seems to want to do it. So who is going to do it.

Mike Hunt
Where did Newquay sign that number 12 from? Think his name was moose from what the fans were shouting Edited August 22, 2015 by Mike Hunt
Cornishfan74
From what I've heard the number 12 who scored both goals after coming up as a sub attends the same sporting college as another Newquay player and this was a one off game before they go back to college. Paul
St Blazey 2v4 Torpoint. Blazey 1 up and almost made it 2 but for a great save. The resulting corner was taken quickly and missed our player by a mile and within 2 passes Torpoint had a shot at goal that deflected in. Minutes later a cross was dropped onto a Torpoint foot that was tucked away. Torpoint scored a third after we gave the ball away softly and it was finished very well. Blazey did pull a goal back before half time to make it Interesting. Half time 50 50 draw won again. Happy days. Second half Torpoint add a fourth after constant pressure. Then followed the worst 35 minutes of football ever. Dreadful stuff to watch. No game next week and then the F.A vase. We will be playing catch up during September with mid week football every Tuesday or Wednesday during the month. Struggling. Att. 78 head count. Today there was no moaning and groaning, just two teams wanting to get the ball down and attack their opponents. A very enjoyable afternoons entertainment. Don't think any cards shown today either. For the record Saltash goals were both headers from Toby Clark and Sub Simon Parnell. I thought Saltash should have wrapped up the match by half time but poor finishing kept it to a one goal lead at half time. The second half was a different affair with Stoke Gabriel dominant due to the Ashes inability to hold on to the ball. The best move of the game unlocked the Saltash defence for a deserved equaliser. However, a positive substitution paid dividends when Parnell's header found the bottom corner of the net. To be honest though, both teams will struggle against the big teams this season and mid-table mediocrity is probably the best either side will achieve this term. pastyman
So what has happened to the Saltash United team to take them from the top three to mediocrity MIKESREP?I have only watched Saltash play in pre-season friendlies this season and they dont look very good. The reports I have been given on the league games so far this season agree with your assessment totally.Incidentally, have they found a programme editor yet? There was a rumour they had aquired a Commercial Manager at the club, but there is liitle evidence of such so far. They've lost some good players but still have many from last season. The poor finish at the end of the season showed what was coming. Losing Danny Lewis and Sam Hughes hasn't helped plus some of the younger players too but I think losing Jimmy Alexander started the decline when Phil Bayliss messed him around after his injury. He should have played from the start against St Austell late, last season. Sam Farrant worked tirelessly yesterday but needs help particularly with Dave Trott injured. Jimbo would be ideal in centre mid. A ball winner and ball player I'd have him back in a flash.
