mikesrep
Another strong performance from the Ashes tonight following their cup success against Parkway last Friday. A result that seems to have lifted the teams confidence back to the level of the previous 2 seasons. Launceston started well and had Saltash on the back foot for the first ten minutes, a shot and a free kick from Bobby Hopkinson sailed over the bar but that ended any threat from Launceston as the Ashes grabbed control when Richard Madison outpaced the defence to put Saltash in front. Sam Farrant's header gave Saltash a comfortable half time lead, Saltash continued to dominate the second half and the three points were secured when Dave Youlden scored Saltash's 3rd.The flash point came late in the game when Lewis Russell unjustly received a straight red from a referee who never seemed to be on top of his game (probably never played the game before) as he made a great tackle in a 50 50 challenge. However the Launceston team reacted badly to the tackle and their no 3 was also dismissed. Saltash seemed to have emerged from their early season problems and are now looking a good and well organized side, their big test will be against Ivybridge on Saturday. pastyman
A much improved Saltash United side. Yes , they are nearly back to the level of the past two seasons. Lacking a bit in the forward line last night, with Sam Hughes missing.Young Callum O'Brien has certainly not looked out of place in the team and has put in some great performances. At first I thought Lewis Russell was unlucky with the straight red, but having discussed it with some others, it seems he did go into the tackle showing studs, so guess it was the right decision.Sadly the Referee made some very strange decisions for both sides, something I have noticed he do many times before. mikesrep
Thanks for confusing everyone Bald One - ever thought of refereeing? Got to agree there Pastyman, forward line isn't the same without Sam but Maddy had a great game last night and is was good to see Dave Youlden on the score sheet, hope the goal lifts his confidence and helps him to settle at the club. As for Callum, he was excellent against Parkway and again last night. Gonna need him against the Bridgers!

iamfootie
I think with all the experienced Ivybridge players missing that saltash will win this game but if Ivybridge do some how have a full squad it could be a close game.
