Dave Deacon
"Lots of SWPL players will be taking part"Well known SWPL player Mark Berry is running a tournament on the 21st February in aid of the Chestnut Appeal to help them reach their target fundraising for Kilimanjaro. The tournament starts at 11am and will run until roughly 4.30pm. There are still a few spaces for anyone to enter a team in a tournament that should see a decent standard of football with players from the SWPL participating.Contact details are on the poster. Razza
Thanks Dave also with the quality of players due to be on display it will be good for spectators and followers of the swpl to come and watch, there will be no entry fee, but maybe a kind small donation or the purchase of a raffle ticket on the day will be appreciated, thanks guysrazza

Razza
Yea sorry should have stated the chestnut appeal is a prostate cancer awareness charity, we are aiming to raise in the region of £25/30k to help fund a new early diagnosis machine. The machine costs around £90k and there is only 1 other in the uk. The machine will be based at derriford hospital so at some point could well be used by someone we all know! Prostate cancer is the most common cancer found in men in the uk, with over 40,000 cases a year. With football being a male dominated sport (in no means am I being sexist) and football being something so close to my heart , the obvious choice for a way of raising funds was via some sort of football tournament where we could group together some of the most well known names of south western league football, wether it be past or present the response has been incredible. However we are still slightly short of the 32 teams needed to make the tournament a complete success. Any support myself and the 4 other lads receive isn't going unnoticed wether it be advertising up to donating towards our total, everything is contributing to the final outcome, when in October this year we climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Thanks again for even just taking the time to read this threadRazza Edited January 26, 2016 by Razza
