All quiet on the (Suuth-)Western (Peninsular) front.

Did everyone stay at home last night? Apart from Godolphin/Tavistock, which has it's own thread, not a single posting on last nights matches. Is It footie fatigue, due to the postponed matches coming thick and fast, or is it that the Cornish teams with the most vocal fans (in terms of the forum) lost? Not even so much as a "we was robbed"!

St Blazey 2v4 Helston

Can't really complain about the result tonight. A few players missing and we looked very short at the back. Helston 2 up with good headers but totally unmarked. Amazing though that after less than 20 minutes it was 2v2 with Drummond smashing home the first leaving the Helston keeper no chance. Minutes later it was all square with a great downward header leaving the kepeer no chance again. Helston re took the lead with a break away goal. Two players dived in and left Helston to break away and a good strike from probably 20 yards left the Blazey keeper no chance. St Blazey then had two brilliant chances, especially the first where Tornado went through the Helston defence and blaized over.

Half time. 2v3

The second half Helston added a 4th and it became very scrappy. St Blazey making heavy work of keeping the ball and Helston almost added late goals. One effort well saved and one clipped the bar.

Another poor crowd between 60 and 70.

After I got home I must have fallen asleep after getting home just after 3am the night before from watching Argyle win at Leyton Orient. To much to ask for two wins in mid week.

St Blazey v Parkway on Saturday.

Callington Town 3 - 3 Elburton Villa

After 4 straight wins Callington would have hoped for a fifth against bottom club Villa, but it was not to be.A strangely flat and quiet first half from Callington, Elburton seemed more "up" for the game - not surprising given their position.Villa scored on 20 minutes when Baker reacted quickest to score from six yards when  a ball was headed back to him - Villa led 1-0 at half time. There could only be an improvement from Callington in the second half, this was immediate with Ben Langton rifling home a left footer on 47 mins.

There was a feeling that once Callington scored they could go on to win, but no, Villa went ahead through Douglas a few minutes later - a great cross from the right wasn't cleared properly, and he finished well.

Andre Rudukov had started to terrorise the Villa defence with his pace, on 62 minutes a pinpoint pass down the right from Chris Lock saw the striker race down the right hit the ball across first time for the onrushing Mike Lucas to pull the scores level at 2-2. At this point the Villa defence looked pretty shaky, and on  64 minutes conceded a free kick just outside the area, and Fergus Nevin expertly curled a shot into the bottom corner to make it 3-2 to Town.

To their credit Villa fought back, and Baker got his second shortly afterwards, somehow backflicking the ball into the net. Town had chances to win, but Villa held on.

A point probably not enough for Villa, in a repeat result of the reverse fixture.

For Callington, one defeat in the last ten games, featuring five wins and four draws.

Bude 4-4 St Dennis

This was defiantly a game for a spectator, ht score 1-1, saints took a 2 goal advantage early in the second half leading 3-1, bude quickly pulled a goal back before saints again stretched the lead, 4-2, again bude hit back making it 4-3, then to be awarded a penalty 5 mins from time, 4-4, a minute left on the clock and bude were awarded another penalty which was brilliantly saved in the saints goal by Brett Allen.

Being 4-2 up with 10 mins left on the clock and a missed pen from bude in the last minute, we could have easily won the game as we could have lost it so a draw probably the correct score.

Dissapointing not to have won the game and turning up to bude on a Wednesday night 15 mins before kick off was always going to be a tough ask.

It was devastating news for the lads and the club this week that we didn't get accepted for promotion to the prem, which I think has taking a lot of wind out of our sales.

But we still have a cup final to look forward to and we keep plodding away in league to try and finish our season strongly. ???⚽️

Saints goals :

Lee Ricks (2)

Cam Bidgood

Liam Ames

All very well you mocking Bodmin Paul on another thread, but i heard last night at the Priory it was former Bodmin Hero Danny 'Hitman' O'Hagan out jumped from two consecutive corners by a Helston defender to give Helston a 2-0 start, never thought i would hear that as at Bodmin he never missed a header in five years! Keep going though, you will survive the drop

 never mind Leeds. We're just having a bit of fun because you'd had the yellow ribbons tied round the league trophy for a long time. Now even St Blazey, Callington, Camelford  and Cullompton are in better form than Bodmin. Who would have thought that a few weeks ago. Just shows it takes more than a big budget to win matches. You have to say this is probably the most intresting season at the top and bottom for a long long time. So much to play for and only a handful of games to play.
