NEWQUAY  (2)   2    Rapsey 11'  C. Turner 38'

ST.DENNIS  (1)  3   Friendship 2'  Sleeman  68'  L.Rickard  81'

Boiling hot day of 26* degrees for the players but played at a good pace from the off with the Saints storming into the lead within 90 seconds from the first corner of the game cleverly flicked home at the near post. The Pepepermints young side came straight back into the game within eight minutes when 17 year old Jack Rapsey shot clinically inside the post from the edge of the area making it 2 in his first 2 games for the club. After a good spell of pressure another 17 year old Cameron Turner smashed home a thunderbolt from 25 yards to give the hosts the lead. Macca made half a dozen changes or so at half time having a good look at all his players and the saints with their bare 11 players took control of the second half equalising with a great strike into the far corner before the saints new chairman and the lethal Lee Rickard snapped up a real strikers finish in the last ten minutes. The visitors will without a doubt be challenging for the West Division title this season, good lively side once again. Thanks to 100% for the photos of the boy from his debut in a Newquay shirt last weds night. Great to spend ten minutes with Smokie, the most famous dog in Cornish football, lovely little chap he is too. ?

St Agnes 0

Decent first run out for the G against a direct St Agnes side. Comfortable victory with everyone getting 45 in the legs ready for what will be a good test against St Dennis on Saturday.

Went and watched St Dennis vs the G today and i thought the G  where lucky to go in at 2-0 up at half because St Dennis missed so many chances but in the 2nd half the took there chances and won 3-2 the No7 for St Dennis was causing havoc all afternoon my man of the match by a mile . I think u can safely say St Dennis will be in the South western Premier division next season a fine team with a lovely ground .

St Dennis played very well today and will be pushing for promotion. Good luck to Robbo and the lads.

As for us plenty to work on and a really good run out. Couple of players to get back from injury and our squad will be strong. All about getting minutes in the legs at this stage. onwards and upwards

PERRANPORTH  (0)  1     Wilton 79'

NEWQUAY   (1)  5     McOnie 27'  H.Turner 61'  Vince 75'  Middleton 86'  Rapsey 89'

Nice afternoon at Ponsmere Valley, caught up with some old friends. The hosts held their own for long periods but Newquay created and missed enough chances to have scored double figures really. Some fine saves, the crossbar, a couple pens not given and a few sitters went by the wayside in an entertaining match. Newquay had the evergreen Paul Clarke deputising in goal and he wasn't beaten until ten minutes from the end when Ed Wilton went clear and slotted into the far corner. Man of the match Callum McOnie with his superb left foot, forced a great save from the keeper, rattled the crossbar, and scored a quality 25 yard free kick all in the first half hour. The score stayed surprisingly the same at the break but Newquay made about five changes at the break upped it a gear second half and scored at regular intervals with the impressive Hayden Turner shooting into the top corner before Dean Vince bundled home a header at the far post before Perrans consolation from Wilton. A Sean Middleton bullet header from a corner and Jack Rapseys little dink over the keeper to make it 3 in 3 for the Peppermints sealed the result in the Brian Biggin Cup match in which St.Dennis are now favourites after their great comeback win over Godolphin today.  Excellently refereed by Nigel Nicholls as always, a ref that treats players with respect and gets it back.

Not a classic at Ponsmere by the sounds of it : As for the match, well, how can I politely put this... it wasn't the best, in fact it was pretty much pants. Never have I seen such a collection of open-net sitters fluffed when it would have been far easier to score. Unreal. The ball was like a jumping jack firework on a massive bouncy castle, lets say it wasn't a level playing field in every technical sense of the phrase."

ST.AGNES (1) 2  Wort 38' Roberts 87'

NEWQUAY (2) 4  McOnie 4' H.Turner 18' Rapsey 59' Vince 73'

Decent game at a fresh looking Enys Park. New nets, coat of paint, lovely changing facilities now and a plush looking surface. Even a spittle of rain on top, perfect! ? Kimmo got a decent looking side together as always and they threatened on occasions but Newquay dominated the frst half hour pinging it around nicely on the deck. Good stuff to watch. The talented Callum McOnie smashed a snap shot in off the underside of the bar within 5 minutes of kick off and Hayden Turner scored with a deft lob over Ryan Bull 15 minutes later. Visiting 18 year old keeper Dan Peters made a great save from a Luke Wort one on one before the skillful Wort volleyed home at the far post. The Peppermints remained on top in the second half with Aggie always a threat on the break. 17 year old striker Jack Rapsey made it 4 goals in 4 games for his new club with an exquisite little dink over Bull and just inside the far post after a great through ball by McOnie. Dean Vince crashed home a fourth from close range after a spot of pinball in the area before experienced new Aggie signing Matt Roberts found the bottom corner with a low drive with a few minutes to go. A nice evenings entertainment for the 60 or so in attendance  ? Excellent young referee as well, sorry I didn't catch his name. Very composed, relaxed and confident ?

NEWQUAY . (2)  2     Lobb 20' H. Turner 36'

GODOLPHIN  (2)   4   Sims 43'.  ?????

Lovely sunny afternoon at Mount Wise as Godolphin won the Newquay legend Brian Biggin cup after St.Agnes shock 4-3 win over St.Dennis in the opening game. Didn't see that result coming I must admit!? It was a game of two halves as Macca's new look young Newquay team played some superb football in the first 40 minutes taking the game to the G. They opened the scoring when a whipped in free kick from the impressive Hayden Turner resulted in young centre half Teagon Lobb slotting the ball home under visiting keeper Prentice. They doubled the lead with one of the best team goals I've seen for a while when after a couple of one twos in midfield Jack Rapseys clever dummy sent Turner clear to score with a composed finish. The turning point was two great saves from Prentice just after that goal when a Rapsey through ball sent fellow striker Matt Sanders clear who turned inside the defender but was denied by a superb diving save from Prentice and a couple of minutes later Rapsey broke clear but Prentice stood up big to block his shot. The Gs next attack saw the multi talented Jared Sims shoot inside the far post on the turn and within a minute a great strike from the edge of the area brought an unlikely scoreline at the break. It was tough luck on the young Peppermints but after a slower start to the second half the G started to show their quality under new manager Jamie Lowry and scored a couple of goals in the last 20 minutes as well as striking the woodwork a time or two. Apologies not sure of the goalscorers as was chatting and on the phone a bit! Decent game to watch though and plenty of positives for both managers before the league starts for real next week.
