Mousehole 0 v 1 Ludgvan 3rd August 2016

Recommended Posts

Arrived about 10 minutes in so can't comment on that period. Next 15 minutes were scrappy and competitive, with no real chances being created. Last 20 minutes of the first half Mousehole took control and started to get the ball down and play. There were some neat passages of play but no real penetration. Some lovely cross field pings from the Mousehole CB which were perfectly weighted to the advancing right winger who created some half chances from crosses floated into the box but still no goals. Ludgvan looked dangerous on the break, mainly from the right winger although delivery was poor on the couple of occasions he got into good positions to cross.

2nd half was a pretty even affair overall. Ludgvan were the better side for the first 25 mins, playing some neat football and capitalising on the Mousehole defences mistakes in possession. One of these passages of play found a Ludgvan player attacking down the right, between the edge of the box and the byline, and he was allowed to get off a cross/shot with his left foot that floated /curled into the top corner of the Mousehole goal with the keeper stranded.

Ludgvan continued to look the stronger side but Mousehole started to get a foothold, getting numerous breaks down the left hand side with their striker holding the ball up well. None of the crosses (most of which were good quality) were capitalised on, although one resulted in a goal mouth scramble that ended with a good finish from the Mousehole striker (decent chip over the onrushing 'keeper) but it was ruled out for offside.

Last 10/15 mins and Ludgvan were now starting to drop deeper and deeper, leaving only one up front and their other striker dropping back to defend. 3 or 4 half chances in the box and a couple of shots from the edge of the box from Mousehole but Ludgvan were defending well, blocking most things and looking to counter on the break until the ref decided enough was enough and the game ended.

Decent game to watch, with few clear cut chances. Both teams will likely be near the top of their respective divisions again come May 2017. Think attendance (minus the campers) would have been around 50-60 at a guess?
