Think I might head over to Blaise Park on friday evening to watch 'inform' St.Blazey take on possible depleted Tavistock side (quote taken from St.Austell Voice today). If thats the case then maybe St.Blazey might just get their second win in 21 attempts, Stranger things have happened at sea!? Will also get my body temperature right for our very chilly trip to Pennygillam (always cold there!) in the Senior Cup tie we have fixtured there on Saturday

Callington Town 1-0 Plymouth Argyle Development

An absorbing game tonight saw Callington overcome a young Argyle team with a late goal, gaining revenge for their narrow 2-1 defeat in Newton Abbot back in August.

Both teams came out on the attack, Jordan Williams nearly converted at the near post for Callington early on, Argyle hit back and a thumping shot just caught the top of the crossbar. For the remainder of the half both teams gave as good as they got, but Callington had a glorious chance to go in front just before half time when the ball was pulled back running across goal no more than two yards out, with two Town strikers failing to get a touch on the ball.

So 0-0 at half time, but Town started the second half with real purpose ( and a stiff breeze behind them) competing well for every ball, not letting Argyle settle. At the back, Callington's defence was coping pretty well with the speedy and skillful Argyle side, who were not creating many clear cut chances.

Midway through the second half there was an unfortunate period of play, when Chris Lock ( who had a storming game at the back for Town) went down injured, clearly with a head injury. The young referee ignored pleas for the game to stop, eventually Town keeper Sam Borthwick put the ball out of play, pointed out the head injury, but was then booked. To everyone's astonishment Argyle took the resulting throw in just 10 metres or so from the goal line, but instead of sportingly playing the ball back to Callington, immediately created a two on one chance, but to save any embarrassment, the opportunity was closed down.

The game continued, and instead of the fitter young Argyle team gaining the ascendancy, Town realised that they could force an important win, and the home side had plenty of attacking play in the last 20 minutes. Argyle conceded a free kick on the right just outside the penalty area with 5 minutes left, the ball was swung in viciously at speed and defender Matt Thackeray arrived at the near post, flicking the ball into the far corner.

So in the end a victory that Callington deserved for their hard work and effort, and a good deal of decent football. The platform for Callington was strong defence in front of Borthwick, with Harry Southcott, Matt Thackeray,Dan Jefferis and Chris Lock all in great form, but all the team put in a good performance tonight.

This must be one of the few times the Argyle team has failed to score this season...

Great result for Callington tonight and well deserved based on effort. Have to agree with the comment made earlier, poor sportsmanship shown from Plymouth Argyle tonight, if the boot was on the other foot and one of their kids was down with a head injury, I'm sure they would see things differently then!!!

Went along to Launceston 1 Bodmin Town 2 in the Cornwall Senior Cup.

The shrouded gloom seemed to clear up near Launceston way and we got a bright (but cold) afternoons football.

Think the visitors just about deserved the victory but Launceston certainly wasted half a dozen clear cut chances in the first half. Could certainly have been a different outcome had one or two attempts avoided the woodwork and a very good keeper..

The normally placid Bodmin bench seemed a little agitated that a string of refereeing decisions appeared to be going the wrong way which resulted in Mr Gilbert getting a dug-out ticking off from the official. Despite one or two dubious calls I personally thought the Referee had a pretty good game all in all.

The game flowed from end to end without any defining quality, both sides seemed to lack midfield cohesion. It was entertaining enough in parts but nowhere near a classic.

Thought Launceston might have gone for a kitchen-sink last gasp 'rush and push' in the final 10 minutes but Bodmin have that knack of controlling a game, shutting things down and know how to see out a threat well enough. The home side barely got a sniff as the final minutes ticked away.

Sat in the 'deep-freeze' stand in the first half, boy was it cold.

Thawed out in the weak winter sunshine on the other side for the second half.

Other highlights included a rather nice pie for £1.50 and a decent cup of coffee for a quid.

Good luck to Bodmin in the Vase next week.

Saw a really entertaining game at St. Dominick today. Pitch looked in good shape and a shame that probably not more than 30 spectators decided to turn up especially as entrance fee was only £2.50, upon enquiring why it was not higher I was informed that as it was usually this price so why should it be raised, nice to see a club not obsessed about making money.  St Dominick took the lead but by half time were 2 1 down but more than holding their own against the Premier league team.  St.Dominick equalised on 57 mins but at the same time had a player dismissed by the young referee. Then in an end to end second half Torpoint twice went in front but St. Dominick equalised to finish full time at 4 4. Torpoint once again went ahead in the first half of extra time and then got their sixth goal in the second half of extra time and you knew the 10 men of St. Dominick were now beaten. Despite conceding two further goals to finish the match 8 4 St.Domick gave a great display and showed why they are second in the East Cornwall League. Despite conceding 8 goals I think the young St.Dominick goalie had a good game and as a neutral I was very impressed with St.Dominick's approach to the game, to play for nearly 60 mins with 10 men against Torpoint and hold their own until the second half of extra time is commendable.. Thanks for an entertaining afternoon.

The normally placid Bodmin bench ? ? ? ? :) Thank you Uwdi.

Leeds - how was it for you ?

Well Keith, it was bloody freezing! Dry, crisp winters day, two sides playing with lots of energy, Launceston fighting until the final whistle. However, I feel Bodmin were the better side, had the better chances & more ball retention. Felt at times we really cut through & exposed Launcestons defence, however at 2-1 its always a dodgy scoreline & we did well to see out the game.

Echo the comments made by Graham Deacon above. St Dominick gave it a real go against a solid Torpoint side and I would say that if they didn't go down to 10 men, they would be in the next round of the cup as the player sent off looked to have a real bite between his teeth and a good grip on the game. St Dominick literally ran out of steam in extra time and looked to have a lot of players playing out of position to compensate. Don't know where they got the GK from but an outstanding display and made two of the best saves I have seen this season. A great cup tie and good luck to Torpoint in the next round.

Poor 1st half from us blues going 4-1 down, dominated the 2nd half and should of got a draw out of it missing a couple clear chances! Scorers, j Lorenz 2, m Gilbert & b Collins! Big cup tie against saltash Friday night now⚽️

I predict a massacre could be on the cards if u defend like u did on Saturday, utterly shambolic in the 1st half
