It was only a foul on the keeper... players reacting caused it all.. on another day keeper gets up takes the free kick. Play on..

You are spot on S Abbo. The reaction of the keeper sparked everything. We have pictures of the keeper appearing to stamp on Kyle Marks & then have him hold by the throat in another photograph. The same keeper later in the game, got Dan Hindmarch sent off when he reacted to his challenge, & another photo shows him laughing & waveing to Dan as the referee showed him his 2nd yellow. All this from , who should have been, the 1st man to receive a red card. !!!!

Yup and the Sticker defenders. If they just left the two of them in the net there would've been no mass brawl, probably just shake hands and move on.

I spoke to some people closer to the incident than myself and they said the same, so no doubt this is also true. Pictures are also quite reliable.

This I would have to disagree with. The challenge which resulted in the 2nd yellow was very late on the Goalkeeper and the player had just fouled someone else about 3 mins prior which would've been enough to warrant a yellow.

However, I didn't like the fact that Sticker's number 3 felt the need to escort him off the pitch with an arm around his shoulder. I assumed it was done maliciously to goad which stuck in my mind as particularly unsporting. I am only a humble combination league player but I have never witnessed such unsporting behaviour in all my playing. Maybe I misinterpreted it but that's how it appeared.

Last two quotes this is my whole point how are you gonna give one player a red another a second yellow on the advice of a Lino from sticker     Absolute shambles people can write or say what they want but it was bloody embarrassing. And worse when port Lino told him the rest . Any ref defending that today would be wrong I'm sorry refs

Funny earlier in the season at a combo game at port Hayle had a player sent off on advice by the Port lino  ,   just saying perhaps these things level out over a season ?

End of the day guys it's gone it's happened. Referees and assistants are few and far from high numbers at the minute. I wasn't at the game so cannot comment on these Incidents, however without these 3 we wouldn't have the lovely game on a Saturday afternoon. Would rather see leeds United go shopping with his mum mind then post stupidity on the forum.

And why does the other player in yellow and black have red tape on his socks ??

Best not perhaps - might be another yellow for Port! :yahoo:

Seriously though - someone has said it earlier, but the players are generally as much at fault as any of us! Far too much shouting, moaning, screaming, play-acting and appealing from them!

Worse than the red tape, why on earth is he wearing those hideous pink boots!!!

Perhaps the tape is matching the boots !

It is obvious to deduce from this pic that the Reds are assisting the injured player in Yellow by keeping his head upright whilst immobilising the injured shoulder with their hands and knees whilst rubbing his neck area to enable better circulation.

Unless I missed it...any news/report of the Helston v Saltash game? Great win for Helston and I'm sure a few challengers will be grateful to them!

After a disappointing Boxing Day Derby result against Falmouth, Helston went into the game looking to contain the League leaders. Both sides looked to play football on a 'tacky' surface with few chances created in the first half. As the game continued into the second half, the home side looked to take the game to Saltash and started to create opportunities, especially on the counter. The introduction of sub Buchan proved to be the difference as he pounced on the rebound following up McCardie's effort which had hit the post. As you said, a great win for Helston and looking at other results, one which may affect the League outcome in May. Approx 100 in attendance.

Sez it all, doesn't it !!! Don't referee as you see it, do what the law book tells you. ! You must have mentored the ref we had on Monday. ! ???

Exactly, Sockgate is the only conspiracy theory that I've actually seen . I wasn't there so I can only get my info from this forum ....!!!!

As a new contributer to this forum, I feel that it may be time to place a few facts about the Sticker - Porthleven match that as yet have not been mentioned.
The Sticker goalkeeper appears to be the target for many who think he instigated the fracas.
Maybe they are not aware that the lad had his jaw broken in three places in early November as the result of a footballing incident against Holsworthy, and had three steel plates inserted in his jaw.    After lengthy treatment and without complaint he resumed his role between the sticks, until he left the field in some considerable pain late in the second half.
He made newspaper headlines for playing for an hour with a broken jaw, ( St Austell Voice) not the actions of a complaining whimp i would suggest.
Leading up to the problems at Gala Parc he had already received a facial injury that needed physio attention, and for which i believe the Porthleven player had been booked.
Rightly or wrongly he may have decided that he would look after himself from there on in.
The Sticker captain also came in for some flack, and prior to his receiving a yellow card, he had had to replace his shin pad ripped in half in a horrendous tackle.
The Sticker player sent off acknowledged his part in the proceedings, and agreed that his dismissal was not optional.
My wife and i moved from our position close to the Porthleven support, as the foul and abusive language used towards the referee and some players was disgusting.
Maybe Porthleven should look at their seasons disipline record prior to this game of 3 reds and 29 yellows, before they berate opponents, or were they all the result of poor refereeing

Photographic evidence my friend. & if your telling me its ok for the keeper to react just because he thought he was fouled, then that is exactly what everyone else did, reacted to what was happening. The incident with the keeper early on wasn't even given as a foul by the referre & nobody was booked. The ' horrendous ' as you call it tackle, did warrant the yellow card that was shown. ! Can I remind you, as you've mentioned our disciplinary record, that for 30 minutes, that was a really good competitive game of football between 2 good sides, with hardly a bad tackle, ruined by a inept referee..

I keep hearing on here about young referees should be encouraged because if they keep being abused they will pack in. There are young players who are also considering wether they want to play or not because whenever they make a tackle or commit a foul, some inept referee who's never played the game is likely to follow the law book & cost him £10 or possibly more. 2 words..Common sense. ! That's why the best referees are the ones who have played the game & you can talk too. George Pattinson, Kevin Knowles, Nigel Nicholls, Nigel Jewell, Neil Rudkin, Charlie Phillpot to name a few. These young referees coming through should be running lines to these people & learning the way to referee at this level. Its not all about the bloody law book. !!!! ???
